Even though I would rather take a Evo V over this one, this is still a great car, and I like it.

However, this would be panned by the average Joe as "just another rice burner".

If the Cool Wall was based on the individual's opinion of the car...

COOL

However, the car would just look like another Japanese sports car to the average Joe...

UNCOOL

If you drive down the road in one, everyone's going to think you're a ricer/boy racer/yobbo/whatever regardless of whether your car's stock or not - uncool. Plus it's basically a four-door crapbox (the Lancer part) with 4WD and an overpowered engine (the Evo part).

Actually... back during this generation, the Evo chassis and Lancer chassis were quite different. Different steering racks, completely different rear subframe (Evo differential does not bolt on... you actually have to cut apart the Lancer's rear subframe with a sawzall to weld in an Evo differential), extra-welding in the chassis. Completely different body panels and roof, wider track, etcetera.

Unfortunately... it only takes a few pieces of fiberglass and some wheel spacers to make a plain-jane Lancer look like an Evo VI.

Still... merely a cool... the V or the VI.5 Makkinen would be sub-zero.

I know someone who thinks these are the bee's knees but, with me being a Scooby boy, I don't really see the appeal in them. That said this is one of the best Evos so it at least gets a cool.

I'm with Niky

Also, way too many variants/ iterations of the whole EVO thing. Changing the blasted thing just about every year devalues the previous versio IMO. And same for the brand

Good point, but it's still a Lancer at heart - the Evo is, in essence, a Lancer that's been attacked by the Mitsu performance guys.

My point being, imagine if Joe Average asked you what you drive.
Joe Average: "So, what do you drive?"
You: "An Evo 6."
Joe Average: "A what?"
You: "A Lancer..."
Joe Average: "bahahaha"

Kind of embarassing, isn't it?

Depends on where Joe Average lives. Pretty much everyone nowadays knows what an Evo or STI is... and they know it's a different animal.

But that's not what I was debating... just noting that the EVO is not basically a Lancer with a better engine and AWD. the mechanical differences from the basic Lancer are nearly as extreme as between the Escort and the Escort Cosworth (the one based on the Sierra Cosworth). Same wrapper, completely different candy.

I do agree that looks-wise, there really isn't much between them... and enough people rice out their Lancers that most wouldn't know the difference.

Actually the conversation is more likely to involve Japanese-car bashing as Joe Average drives a Falcodore here.

Not to mention the fact that most people, as Niky said, would know what an Evo and an STi are.

I think they're awesome, but I may be a bit biased...

I'll have to disagree about the woman driving part, but I reckon women are about 10x more attractive in one. And again, like the Gti-R, I think the ricers with the body kits and spacers say more about them than the Evo.

It's my favourite and IMO the best Evolution but too many chavs own and aspire to own Evo's(round here anyway:rolleyes:) so I voted uncool. However, if it were the Tommi Makinen edition it would be cool.:)

I actually prefer the 4 in looks, but with every model comes technological advancements. Oh, and who the hell cares what Joe Average thinks? I chose my car for me, not for everyone else (Most of my mates reckon my car is ugly, I love it, so stuff em haha) so if Joe Average judges it because its a "Lancer" then that is the kind of person that I hold no value to their opinion on cars (ie, not a car nut)

For me, this is a Cool. I like both Evos and Subys, but this is no FQ400, so its not sub zero.

Lancers/Imprezas of this age are exclusively driven in the UK by people that bolt on huge exhausts and drive around McDonalds car parks like a sort of mating ritual. For that, uncool.

Meh.

Only the T.M.E was/is cool as it's too collectable to be ruined by chavs and only (mostly) owned by proper car enthusiasts.

Don't finish the conversation there though....

You : "What do you drive, that makes my car so funny?"
Joe Average : "A BMW 328/ Mercedes C300/ Lexus IS 250/ Cadillac CTS/ Infiniti G37/ Audi A4/ Acura TL etc"
You :"Do the world a favour, stay off the canyon roads, and stick to the slow lane where you belong!!!!!!!!" :scared:

When Joe Average realises you have a performance car he will shut up.

If he claims he can score chics with his car I always respond that "I don't need external aids to get chics, just like I don't needs external aids when I am "with" the chic, if you know what I mean"

Never liked the VI. I've always found it extremely ugly. IV was the best of this bodystyle, in my opinion.
