I can't post topics

Looks like you've made 3 threads beside this one, the last being June 15. When did the problem begin?

You can't create a new topic now in the Gran Turismo 5 forum until you've made 100 posts.

Nice! The GT5 forum nowadays reminds me a troublesome suburb. Police patrolling constantly, gangs of young people filled with frustration and anger and shouting at each other ... well known wellfare officers trying to introduce some sense in the generally ruling chaos ... quite curious to watch if you like sociology :P

Good move, but I still think that 100 posts is a tad steep, especially for members that don't post that much. I've been here since February 2009 and still don't reach 500 posts.

I've been a registered member for around 16 months, so my post average would be 31 per month. It would've taken me 3 months to reach the post requirements in the GT5 forum if this rule was in place back then.

I agree; I personally think that 25 posts are enough, but 50 would be fine, too. Could you explain your reasoning in selecting 100, Jordan?

Thread creation privileges are controlled by user group. When a user reaches 100 posts, they're already moved to a new group thanks to the automated promotions I had in place for the old custom avatar requirement. It's a practical threshold, so I built this restriction in to the existing functionality.

Okay, that makes sense. There will definitely be lots of annoyed new members on and after the release date, but the threshold may be high enough that even spamming to reach 100 posts probably won't be a huge issue. Are you going to describe this restriction in an obvious place, such as a step when they're creating their account or a sticky thread in the GT5 forum?

About Time! Seeing like five billion useless threads lol. But what if the dude trolls just to make a thread :sly:?

Yeah, that's already on my list here. Regardless, the GT5 forum will be appropriately partitioned when the game is released. For new users/players, I'm considering a dedicated sub-forum where they will be able to freely ask questions. This should help them get answers (and hopefully have a pleasant first impression of the community) without interfering with more experienced or advanced users.

Thanks for that, Jordan! Now maybe I'll venture back into the GT5 forum again. For the past few months it's been like TJ Maxx, an utter mess!

I guess I can't reply to threads either. I scanned a few pages about GT5 from the latest Famitsu magazine and posted links in the E3 thread. Said the post would have to be approved but it's still not there some 6 hours later.

More like an episode of Jerry Springer.

Where can I find a GT5 forum that doesn't have such a requirement?

You can't. Just get to your 100 post mark and you'll be fine. Just don't spam random forums, ok?

Same thing happened to me when I joined. Don't worry.

I'd still rather watch Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

If you don't like GTPlanet, you are more than welcome to leave.

I do like GTPlanet but I'm never going to make 100 posts and am simply looking for a recommendation from the knowledgeable users here as to where I can go where I will be able to post.

Anyone?

Do you really have to post a new thread? There are like a million threads already in the GT5 forum, why can't you just post in one of those?

Because I couldn't find a single post discussing GT5 wallpaper images. I've found heaps of screenshots but not a single decent wallpaper image with the GT5 logo.

I've looked on official GT site, on here, Googled and so far the only one I've found (here) has cars that are barely visible in it.

Maybe ask a Mod to create one for you - that's not a bad idea.
Then again, every second new member will be spamming the mods' visitor pages. So on the other hand, don't

Did you try the search function at the top of this Web site? I did a search for GT5 wallpaper and got these results:
https://www.gtplanet.net/search/?q=GT5+wallpaper

I'll save you some trouble and point out that some of the best stuff comes from Alba, and you can find them on his site with a link in this thread.

You may even find he can throw something together for you or point you in the direction of other quality artists.
