So i saw this ad today here and was immedatly hooked.

http://www.gtomegaracing.com/

What do you think?
has someone some experience with this one??

I for one think it's a pretty sweet deal, cause i wanted to build one myself in this kind of design (bended tubes,...), but alone to bend the tubes would cost me some bucks.

That would be a pretty sweet deal for a basis to work on later. Some mods will surly be made...

UPDATE: Got it ordered, will dispatch tomorrow, hope it arrives this week. A review will follow soon after

Here´s a photo for the lazy ones

UPDATE II&III REVIEW:
So my package arrived this morning, and i started building it up during lunchtime. So take this as a pre-review.

1. ordering and delivering :
The order was quickly placed, but the shop (ref. "he") only acceptes for the moment paypal. I needed to reactivate my account for that but it wasn't a major throwback. Had some emails going in and out, talking to the guy. He's nice and will help out in case of problems as far as i can judge. Ordered Moday evening, package was picked up tuesday, got it today (Luxemburg, so Germany, France, Benelux should be as quick).

2. Materials:
The steel tubes are very sturdy and massive (not massive, but +-1,2mm thick), the welding points are not perfect (only handmades are) but they are very good.
The drilling holes fit the screws good (a bit of pushing needed in few cases to get them in, but it's not like they wouldn't fit)
The paintcoating is good, had 2 scratches in the paint but on panels that are not visible. The overall quality of the paint is good.
The overall quality of the materials is good.

3. Mounting:
Mounting was easy. A sheet of manuel is with the package and a completer guide is on his website. It ain´t as expicit as a lego built ;) but apart from what placement for which screws, it is pretty much logical.
I build up the front frame in about 10 min alone. The wheelmount /-base can be loose because it has a little tilt. Don´t know if intended but a little plastic should be enough to block it. I didn´t mount the monitorstand which is needed to have one of the little desks, and the keyboardholder is not mounted, i will mount it only if needed, but are surly as easy to mount as the rest. A screwdriver is not really needed but can speed things up a little. All the materials and tools required to mount the cockpit are in the package.

4. Sturdyness:
This probalby being the most important thing for most of us. I just pushed and pulled a bit on he frame and it´s very sturdy.

5. Modability:
as it looks now all my propositions made early are easily achievable. So the wheel mount can be modded to have height adjustement, the pedals can be reversed easily....
When I mounted the frame yesterday i had some problems with the non stock seat. But I took the sliders from this kit to replace the mounting frame and sliders from the car. That saved me 2-5 cm (2inch?). Now i should be on the same height as with the seat that comes with the kit. Yesterday i was too lazy. Now it´s done properly.
Buttkicker is no problem to mount (pics)

6. Playtime
Now I played 2 hours on the rig and sturdyness is really not a problem. The configuration of seat - shifter - wheel is good for me, but as it lacks adjustment i can be problems for tall people (but as said before, it can be moded easily out of wood or metal to adjust the height of wheel and shifter). The first hour i played GT5P, and it was very good (i haven´t played for months). You sit close to the ground which is great, the shifter is in a good position and the pedals are inclinded so that takes it already closer to the reversed pedal mod.
Second game was SCC, it has a lot of FFB, i mean like a hell lot of FFB. Sturdyness still no problem.
The feeling while sitting in the rig is great as the frame looks a bit like a monocoque. I really enjoyed my first hours now with it.

7. Drawbacks:
The only drawback i saw so far,... hold on ... is that the shifter is on the half of the frame where the seat is. As i need to split the 2 halfs up to stock it in my room, it´s a bit of a pain right now. But nothing a mod can change. Thinking of a quick release kind of thing for the shifter.
And the wheelmount if it´s not intended. So ??
Adjsutability ... yeah that´s one
And if you wanna be a bi*** : 2 scratches in the 1st layer of paint :scared: huhuhu

Quality prime materials : 4,5/5
Quality paint : 4,3/5
Mount ease : 4,4/5
Sturdyness : 4,7/5
Overall concept : 4.3/5 (some things could be added ; see mods) EDIT: NEW WHEEL MOUNT; SO ADDED SOME POINTS
Feeling of cockpit : 3,9 (need some room for actuator cockpits, when...)
Price : 5/5
Quality/price : 5/5 (come on for that price tag...)
SERVICE (ADDED) : 5/5 (after some talks with Leo, and the new wheel mount resent to all existing customers for free, this is over the top support) 👍

Buttkicker

Sorry for the mess lol

So i hope this review will help some people choose one cockpit or another.
If questions ask.

Update IV:

Shifter Mod (adjusted):

The cockpit is divided in 2 main sections:
1: Seat, shifter
2: Wheel, pedals

And as i need to split it up in order to save place and use my desktop and PC.
So i mounted the shifter on the 2nd half, where the keyboard mount is supposed to be (holes already there, so no unmounting, and drilling needed)

Than you choose your material :either wood or metal. Simply built an U like on the pic and adjust height and lenght to your needs. And with this butterfly nuts,... it´s also a quick release if needed.

Wheel mod (adjusted)

So in order to stock the 1st part underneath my desk i needed to remove the wheel. This was a real pain in the foot as the shifter was still on the second half.... So i decided to do a quick release for the wheel. This is also very cool if you have more than one wheel so you can change between the 2 under a minute.

Like with the shifter you need to adjust the wheel in distance and tilt for yourself. Take the original wheel mount as template. Than cut it out on wood or steel whatever you want, and do 2 of those. Drill the holes like on the template. And you´re nearly done. Very easy till now, and it continues like that.

Important: Insert the bolts before screwing the 2 pieces together because it will not be possible after.

Cut out a triangle or square of wood in a certain thick (the thick will adjust the tilt)&(you may need to grind a bit off of one side to incline the wood a bit) put it between the 2 pieces of wood and screw everything together. And voila.

NEW WHEEL MOUNT, ADD ADJUSTABILITY

in order to get the wheel on the QR, you need to remove the clamps of the wheel or you cut out little sqares out of the wood where the clamps are.

I removed the clamps, here how :
Remove steering wheel (six black bolts)
you see this:

unscrew the little black screw on the chip in order to get the chip out

undo the wires with releasing the white thing (carefully to not harm the pins)

Now you see this

Remove the 3 bigger screws without a ring underneath. Then pull the pedals off
and now it´s:

Now on the bottom side unscrew all screws (4 black & 8?silver ones)

Now open the case take the upper part (the big plastic screw) off the clamp off and push the rest of the clamp out. Remount everything in reversed order and done.

I propose buyers of the omega could present their built and mods also here, so all in one place.

For UK works out at approx £340

So its right in the Game Racer Elite / Playseat Evolution price points
Product looks not too bad.

Biggest drawback seems to be no height or tilt adjustment for the wheel support.
For instance a Fanatec wheel sits much higher than a Logitech or Microsoft wheel and this seems to give the user no adjustability other than horizontal distance from the player.

I wonder what people think of the the website, I have to say its shockingly amateur looking and those photos are awful, website is not that convincing...

Hope you enjoy the product though....

Just had a look at the website as im planning on buying a cockpit ready for GT5. I was intially going to buy a Gameracer Pro+seat raiser which is £40 more expensive than the GTOmega. However I shall wait and see what the reviews are like before parting with my money.

I will add the only concern I have with Gameracer Pro is does the bar in the middle get in the way?

As i will be replacing the seat with one of mine i can adjust the height of the seat according to my preferences (i think lower than in the pic).

and because i probably will get a new fanatec gt3 wheel, it's good to know they have differences in height. But easy fixing. I will build a second platform for the logitech wheel and will adjust the seat according to the gt3 wheel so the height says the same and i can play then with the tilt angle.

Some mods will be intergrated in this design.

the seller send a cockpit to simracingcentral so we will see how they rate the cockpit.

I think as long as the metalframe tubes are not 1mm thick, i will be happy.

Wait and see (always waiting...)

...I will add the only concern I have with Gameracer Pro is does the bar in the middle get in the way? ...

That was my concern too. (exagerate) I already hurt myself enough with the pedals when driving without the shoes, so that could at least for me be a potential source of hurting (toe-heel breaking, left foot breaking, and fast back on the clutch....)

At the moment with the 12% off the price is actually £272 with delivery to the UK. and you get a monitor stand. I'm going to wait for *ibo* S3 Racer feedback on the GT Omega before buying one myself. looks a bit like the Gran Tursimo simulators you see in their promotions. Want to know how sturdy it is though.

So no one misses it

I'm writing the review in the original post (1)

So as it stands now:

the built is ready. My only cocern is my seat (another than the delivered one) but (a bit to high) i know already how to fix it. So tomorrow the full review should be done.
I still stand my point that for the price and the concept of cockpit is top.

@Prince4000:

Is a difficult question as i don't have tried the playseat or the gameracer. But my purchase was made on this points:
I don't want a tube/ bar / pole between the legs as i fear it could harm my immersion to much if i knock against it but i don't know if that is a problem with these concepts or not.
I wanted a bigger frame
I wanted modability

As Mr latte said, the gameseat has a lot of adjustabitlity whereas this one has just the seat psotion to change.
but for me as i mod it i can adjust the seat to my needs.

if your normal height this should be ok.
Also for the gameseat, it's more roomsaving as this one, but the omega fits underneath my desk so that's alright.

Only negative i saw so far is the wheel plate which has a little tilt (don't know if intended or not), but a bit of rubber and it's fixed and you can adjust a tilit +-5°

It comes down a lot to that:
place needed
modability
adjustable
design wanted

if you like the design and maybe want to mod a bit afterwards, this is it.
You have no room and need to adjust this may not be it

i like it maybe tomorrow i love it. You can still wait for my full review and pics tomorrow to decide

Yoh yoh yoh, ibo s3 racer you lucky lucky so and so.great drivers cockpit I must admit i would not mind getting hold of that rig the price is great it looks mega you would spend that sort of money on a seat alone watch out playseats:nervous: just think perfect timing for gt5 the deluxe edition what else:tup:

Prince4000: You will have fun with it, i enjoyed to take a tour again in GT. Update us about yours

Thanks Mr Latte

I started to think about the mods...

Already done one:
you have to halfs: 1 with the seat , and the 2nd with the wheel mount.
Normally the shifter is mounted on the 1st half with the seat, which makes it a pain if you split it up to stock it in.
So i fixed it on the 2nd half where normally the keyboard mount comes. And then i put some wood in between to adjust the height and the distance to the driver.
For now it's wood, but a simple U bend metal does also the work.

I also thought about a quick release system for the wheel (because with the wheel it won't fit underneath my desk). With the quick release i will also adjust the tilt and height.
the reversed pedals are also simple to make. Just need a V or L- bend metal piece.
I will update with pics as soon as the quick release is done (weekend normally)

Received the GT Omega Simulator today at noon. Got it installed and look really good and its very sturdy (Really surprise). took me about an hour to unwrap everything and install. For the price and overall quality 10/10. Can't get a better cockpit for its price range. Also finally clear pedal access 👍

Nice

Good to know you´re happy with it.

I did mods for the shifter and i´m working right now on the wheel quick release (have finished need only to find out how to remove the clamps from the wheel)

I will post them probably tonight.
Some pics would be welcome to see your setup (keyboard mount, monitor mount??)

I think I'm going to order one of these.

What's the seat like that comes with the rig, is it comfortable... especially for the longer races/sessions?

Very tempted to purchase this cockpit after reading your review which I appreciate. However my main concern remains the lack of adjustabliity of the wheel. If I purchase a cockpit I don't want to have to make any mods because im useless at that sort of thing.

So as im exactly 6ft tall do you think this cockpit would be suitable for me without needing any mods?

difficult to answer.
i'm just a little smaller than you (4cm/1.8inch?) and for me even the non-mod was ok. Didn't bother me.

As i don't have the original seat mounted on it, it's kinda hard to really make a point, as the original seat may sit 1-1.5 inches lower and than you would be perfect
You can see the differences in the pics. On my seat there are aluminum L plates (2-3cm height) mounted to the seat which the original seat hasn't.

Wait for Prince , he may can answer you that question definitifly. Or write a Pm to him

@JRacer, I thinks its an actual full size racing Seat. Very comfy indeed especially for long races.

I'll upload some pictures tonight with the monitor stand on. But it will be on weekend till I can upload a picture with a monitor on. I need to buy some screw washers to mount it on.

@II IVORBIGUN II: I'm sure it will be ok for you at 6 foot. It comes with seat sliders so you can adjust the seat position to suit your height.

Here are some pictures of my GT Omega, still to mount the monitor on. Also took pictures of it next to my old playseat.

Have to admit im definitively swaying towards the GT omega cockpit. I do however just have two more questions.

1. My TV cannot be moved and im wary of the steering wheel obscuring my view. So could you please tell me the height of the steering wheel from the floor.

2. Intially I was going to buy either a playseat or gameracer. Does anyone know if the bar in the middle was troublesome?

Just remembered another question. I have a 38" waist, is the seat wide enough on the GT omega cockpit?

I just can answer the first of your questions:
it is exacly 61 cm high

Prince:
Nice with the monitorstand. really good to see it in comparison to the playseat. That will help people get a better look at the 2 different concepts

Thanks *ibo* S3 Racer.

I don't think the steering wheel will block your view, with you being 6 foot tall.

About the bar in the middle. you really have to get use to it, But it get really annoying after long races. After trying both cockpits I don't think I will choose to use a cockpit with a bar in the middle anymore.

The GT Omega seat is actual bigger than the playseat seat. So I think 38" is ok.

Thanks everyone for answering my questions.

My mind is now made up and im definitively going to buy this cockpit shortly. Apart from being a very good deal the bonus of having a monitor stand is what has swayed me towards this cockpit. I won't intially install the monitor stand but my plan is to save up for a 3DTV over the next 18months.

Here are pictures of my GTO Rig fully hooked up. enjoy and please comment.:)
