General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by TGT4 sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ABud) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round.

  • Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
  • No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
  • Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
  • No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
  • All decisions by GTMSA officials are final
  • Curbs/rumble strips count as track

If a driver doesn't manage to submit a time for a particular stage a penalty time will be assigned, calculated as follows:

110% of the slowest time.

Eg. If the slowest time is 19'25.346 the penalty time for all non submitting racers will be:

21'00.365

Also if a driver joins the series part way through their GC time for the races missed will be calculated in the same way

The Car

Lotus Motorsport Elise running +20% Power 241 Bhp & -10% Weight 630 Kg

  • Tyres are Sports Hard
  • Colisions with walls etc. invalidate laps for TTC events
  • Curbs/rumble strips count as track

Working at it already, although my gut tells me than Monte Carlo would have made a great first leg on the tour [/shameless reference to the first time trial of several previous Tour de Frances].
Car is nice, track is nice, but think I am losing too much time in the second half of the lap.

I know I ask this every time, but only the rumble strips themselves are track, and not the tarmac behind them, right?

I've already driven a lap on this combo that I may not beat, so I might use at least some of the time to work on one of the races that takes place after I leave.

Correct, only the rumble strips themselves are track.

Here's my best T4 split so far: 2'36.313

I feel bad for pestering you, but does that mean that you can put all four tires on the runoff where no rumble strip exists (for example, immediately before turning in for Tertre Rouge)?

My best splits right now are 1'24.664 - 2'30.648 - 3'47.557, but I'll have to wait to know the rules for sure before I can say definitively that it's clean.

By the way, does anyone else get a weird urge to downshift this car too early while braking and bounce off of the rev limiter a few times?

I usually keep my weird urges to myself, but if there is a support group here somewhere I will gladly join :lol:

Very funny, viperin. :dopey:

Anyway, I got carried away tonight, and spent three and a half hours :dunce: trying to beat my old, clearly imperfect lap. It took so long because the uncommanded shifting and handbraking resurfaced, ruining about eight really good laps, although, to be fair, I flubbed more than a few braking points as well. I kept going because I knew that I could improve by quite a bit if I could finish a lap without the controller denying me. So my new (and almost certainly final, unless the track rules prove more stringent than I expect) splits are 1'23.923 - 2'30.047 - 3'46.891. Unfortunately, they still aren't as good as I could have been because I had to be delicate with the controller, slowing me down in the latter part of the lap.

The Lotus is very fun to drive, although it does get quite a bit twitchy at high speeds (I spent more time off the track than on the track on the straight between the Mulsanne hairpin and Indianpolis). It is one of those cars that you can't drive at 110% - if you do try to drive it at 110% you'll just fire off the track into a sandtrap or a wall.

Here are my splits for my first good run (and, quite possibly, my last good run)
T2 1'28.755
T4 2'37.531
T6 3'56.935 (quite ironic given that T6 is at the exit of the Porsche Curves)

The track limits rules are fairly lax for this event Austin343 so I'm sure what you're doing is acceptable. Looks like the time I was targeting is about right, shame I'm 6 secs off it still. More laps needed me thinks...

This weeks races: RPP TTC - TT & Arcade done / GTPCTC done / WGT3RS done. What's left? Guess I'll have some fun tonight. :)

edit:

Have run about 7 laps. The feeling this car gives me is not so much twitchy (as TheStig13) mentioned, but maybe floaty with it's lack of grip. Does have some nice chassis roll to it. Will try a new strategy and not post my T's or info for any races. My times will be a secret until after the deadline. God help any of you that don't submit.................. :ouch:

If a driver doesn't manage to submit a time for a particular stage a penalty time will be assigned, calculated as follows:

110% of the slowest time.

edit: Time submitted. :scared:

I sure hope that more people have participated than have posted, because I, for one, really don't want to see this series die off. Anyway, I'm submitting what I have, even though there's clearly a lot more time to be had in the second half of the lap.

I have been pretty busy this week with plenty of good weather. I did get a good lap in but didn't check my splits. I don't know but I am downshifting early trying to get the car slowed down. Driving the slower cars are much more of a challenge and quite humbling. The final turn at the end of the long straight comes up too quickly half of the time, then I roll back my brake point and end up letting them off too early.

time sent.

I've ended up working away from home this weekend so results and the stage 2 thread won't be online till Tuesday, appologies.

Hey all,
I have a lap in the Bank but will try a few more laps before I post.
As usual I am running AT and note I redline several times around here.
I hope this is the same for the MT drivers and not just redlining by choice ?

GL all.

Yeah, this car is geared well for most circuits, but it runs out of gearing on these straights. I like to feather the throttle to hold between 156 and 158 mph when it reaches those speeds, because the rev limiter will slow the car down, but you still need to watch out for bumps like the one approaching L'Arche chicane, where a complete throttle lift is necessary to keep the car from bouncing off the limiter.

Greetings Lotus drivers -
I have submitted my lap time to ABud. Very fun. Lots of time left on the track for others to find.:dopey: Another gear would be nice, but its not really a problem for a one lap time trial. If we were running 100miles, it would certainly be beyond annoying! I'm very slow thru the final Ford chicane since I'm being extremely careful to keep my Lotus between the rumble strips.

Submitted

I left the submitting so late that I did it a bit too hasty.
Because I just realised I had a huge typo in the time. :bandhead: :banghead:

Abud , you can propably see what I mean. The correct digit is 4 .

Sorry.

Learned something new today. Shame it was after I submitted. :dunce: Thanks though.

All results and stage 2 thread done, sorry about the delay to posting them. Good first stage there, i'd hoped the track/car combinations would throw up big gaps between drivers but quite a few people turned in incredibly close times, great stuff!

Congratulations to everyone for making it through a very treacherous lap, and thanks for the great participation. 👍 Although a few corners in the second half of the lap are visibly slow, here's my run:

I do hope that it agrees with what ABud had in mind regarding the track boundaries. :scared:

Great lap Austin343, all well within the rules. You certainly kept the back end under much stricter control than I did - was drifting crazily around the Porsche Curves

Yeah, this car often needs to be sliding in order to be fast, but it needs to be at a small angle. That way, you get the maneuverability of a light back end without the sizable loss of speed caused by aggressive slides.
