Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has been mugged outside his central London business headquarters.

The 80-year-old suffered a head injury when he was attacked by four men at the Formula One Holdings building in Knightsbridge.

He was repeatedly punched and kicked by the men who were lying in wait for him as he arrived at the HQ with his Brazilian girlfriend Fabiana Flosi.

Jewellery valued at £200,000 was stolen in the robbery on Wednesday.

Police said Mr Ecclestone was taken to hospital where he was treated for a minor head injury before being allowed home soon after.

I'm surprised no one has posted this, shame on you all!

I hope Bernie recovers soon, I don't look forward to the madness that awaits us all when he is gone!
I also hope it doesn't affect his outlook in some respects, at times I can only admire his stength of character, even if I don't like everything he does.

I don't really like old Bernie that much. I'm not sure what the public's general opinion of him, but I bet F1 would be better if he wasn't there. He should really think about retiring soon. I mean the guy is filthy rich and at 80 yrs what more work can he really do?

That's unpleasant....

Would you mind to post the link instead of the pic?

Anyway, poor Bernie. I hope he is doing fine by now. :(

All I know is, there's not gonna be a British GP on the streets of London anytime soon!!

 What stopped you? Its sweet irony!

Bash more people's heads together when they don't sort themselves out, its what he does best.

I've read many opinions from inside the sport on Bernie and a lot of people appreciate what he has done. I was surprised initially when I didn't know the sport so well that people like Perry McCarthy even looked at him in a positive light. But as you follow the sport for longer and longer, you quickly realise what Bernie is about.
It seems the biggest problem people in general seem to have with him is his constant outrageous statements, what you quickly learn is that with Bernie, there is always a motive behind every word. Usually he does it to show he isn't affraid of saying anything to the press, including bad-mouthing whatever business or persons he is negotiating with.

Bernie is basically a very effective manager - he gets things done and people play by his rules. Once he is gone from the sport, I fear there will be a fight for power as people try to claim ownership of the rights.

Also, why should people retire when they are "filthy rich"?

Since when does a 5ft2 man with £200k of valuables on him and worth Billions not have at least one "minder".

But, sorry it happened, get well soon, hope they get justice etc etc

I agree he has been an effective manager in that he has helped make F1 into a money making machine. I guess in doing so he likely made some people unhappy along the way.

And yes I suppose calling for someone's retirement on the grounds that they have too much money simply reflects on my jealousy of him. I don't know if I could do what he does better but I would love to try.

It seems old Bernie has a pretty healthy sense of humour, given that he has allowed Swiss watch makers Hublot to use a rather shocking image of his bruised face in a new advertising campaign, accompanied by the somewhat wry slogan "See what people will do for a Hublot"...

That advert would discourage anyone from buying a Hublot watch, then again the price of it would discourage many people as well.
