Formula GT Championship B-Spec Question

Race is running now but it looks line one dude has enough gas to go the entire race without pitting (in the Indy race... on the first race everyone eventually pitted though they were all really close on gas). My question is for people who have completed this... do any of the computer drivers complete any of these races with no pit stops? I figured eveyone would pit once but I'm a bit worried at the moment.

Edit: Race ended and I ended up winning but it didn't look like any of the computer guys needed to pit. Are there any guides about the B-spec computer driver behavior for this series? It'd obviously be nice to know ahead of time whether they're going to have to pit or not. I'd also like to finish this championship the first time through.... these races are too long in B-spec.

On Indy I was in the red coming onto the last lap and and Bob wanted to pit but I did not let him.

I think the Ai pitted on most of the races but not all. I just watched the tires and fuel if at the half way point I was even a tiny bit below 1/2 I pitted right there. This way my guy had some clean air and fresh tires. Ended up getting back to the front before the AI pitted and then had a huge lead after they went into the pits. Bob took gold on every race with a little instruction and pit strategy it was not to hard really.

I'm working the Indy Formula GT race right now. 15 laps in, about to lap the last-place car. I was hoping to take it easy and not need to pic, but not halfway done yet (just started lap 16 of a 37-lap race), and down to just a tiny bit over half a tank of fuel. I guess I'll just have to keep the pressure on Bob and get him far enough ahead to do a splash-n-go in the last stages of the race. I don't mind if the others don't pit - I just hate having to work through all that traffic yet again, and Bob gets upset by it. :)

Wow. I just pitted on Lap 21; I got caught in traffic, and 2nd place was starting to cut into my lead, so I figured I'd get it out of the way and hopefully get into some clean air again. Pit stops take forever in this game - any Formula 1 crew would be fired for taking so long. Bob came out JUST ahead of Numero Dos - I mean *JUST* ahead of him. Cut him off as he slowed for Turn One. Beauty. Now I've got a half-tank of fuel, less than half a race to run, and fresh soft tires. I'm set to cruise this mother down to the end...

Oh, and so far, nobody else has pitted in. In the Fuji race, though, they didn't start their round of pit stops until the last few laps, so who knows... By the time Number Two pitted in that race, I'd already pitted, been passed by him, and passed him back.

Wish it were this easy doing the FGT races in A-spec!

I'm planning on doing the FGT Championship tomorrow morning on B-Spec. If you don't mind, keep updating with your results. 👍

Yup, nobody else pitted except me on the Indy FGT race. And I still lapped the entire field. Or should I say Bob did. :)

As far as time goes, plan on needing AT LEAST 45 seconds for a pit stop. If you enter the pits less than that far ahead of second place, you're going to have to do some more passing.

Oddly, it really seems like Bob is getting GOOD at this - especially considering how crappy he was in the NASCAR event...

Anyway, that's all for tonight - I'm off to bed.

I ran the FGT on my other account yesterday in B-Spec and decided to try something.

In every race I had Bob pit at the mid way point and everytime he went back out and just flew past everyone to the lead as they were on worn tires and his were fresh.

On Indy after 15 laps uncoached he was in 5th place. I had him pit and by lap 20 he was in 1st and pulling away.

I did this on every track except Monaco and it worked well for me.

Nice intel. Will keep this in mind once i get around to doing it (doing 24hr endurances at the moment).

I just completed this on B Spec last night using the setup in the tuning forum. I found that they usually stop themselves but only when they are running out of fuel. My stategy was usually to leave it until just after halfway and I was sure I needed some fuel, rather than pass a backmarker I just did a pitstop.

Sometimes I was overtaken in the pits but I would be considerably faster than the opposition on new tyres. Sometimes they didn;t stop, I guess they conserved fuel better going slower, I only ever just didn't have enough fuel. I was only sticking about 10/15 litres in (always a bit more than they suggested to be on safe side) and it normally fueled about the same time as the tyres

Edit//Update:
The first 2 races none of them pitted, the last 4 they all did once. No reason to use racing hard tires, the gas runs out before the racing mediums are even half gone.

I just finished Fuji with an observation: all of the other FGT teams are running Racing: Hard tires versus my Racing: Soft. I was wondering why ol' Bob was running so quick.

Well, that explains that.

Use Racing Softs and in B-Spec pit at the half way point on all tracks except Monaco and you will not need to do anything else Bob will win on his own so long as you give him soft tires at start and mid point of the race.

Soft tires last just as long as the hard ones btw but he is faster with soft.

Just doing these races now. As most people have said just have soft tires on an get a bit of a lead then if need be pit about half way through the race for a bit more fuel an new tires. You will win this with no problems.

In B Spec I won with these settings and only had to pit once, B Spec Bob was a lap ahead of everyone from 2nd-5th place and 2 laps ahead of the rest of the grid. He'll pit when his fuel is low or there's no grip on his tires

I wish the AI would pit in A spec , might have a chance of winning then

Seriously, I hear you on that one. I've scoured the boards and tried tons of different tunings and I still suck at A-spec in this series. I guess this is my punishment for using a fully tuned Minolta '88 to toast the competition in all of the other series'. Karma

Thanks so much for this info. I just used it to finish B-Spec FGT. It must have taken 6 hours.

Pitting at the half way point is probably a good idea otherwise Bob will do stupid thigs like pit twice in a row.

I won all the races with your tune + oil change and also pitting at the half way mark.

I came in 4th at Monza. It was raining, I already had racing tires on and was way ahead but for some mysterious reason Bob decided to pit and put on the wrong tires. I had to pit again to change them. I came in 4th.

I'm just glad it's over. Now I'm doing the DreamCar reac to get the Citrogen car that I really want. I think (hope) I'm done with B-Spec after that.

Don't end there buddy. Goes into Endurance also. And only thing I see worth doing in B-Spec Endurance is winning the Lexus IS F Racing Concept, but I already own that. Ain't spending 4 hours babying my driver.

Dude this tune absolutely wrecks the competition. I found though that when you're running this in B Spec, your management of the driver and when to pass, pace up/slow down, pit are never more crucial than when running Cote D'Azur. But as long as you have 935 hp, you should be able to pull away quickly on all other courses. So by winning your 4 races and accumulating 400 pts you should be able to come in dead last in Cote D'Azur and still easily take the championship.

Actually, on all my endurance races I just put bob in a formula car and went to bed...woke up in the morning with wins all the time. Was really funny on the 24 hour races to see him racing in the middle of the night with no headlights but still lapping people lol Was def worth the extra lvl 24 ticket. Now if I could just get my hands on another lvl 21 to try and get my Camaro LM Race Car. For some reason, that is still one of my favorites.

I also just used this setup, wow! It really does kill the competition. Minimal coaching, 1 pit per race on lap 20...everyone was lapped at least once....only coaching I did was after he got in first in order to build a healthy lead in order to pit and still be in first place....after that, I just let him do his thing and bob slaughtered them all. Wonder if this setup will work for A-Spec as I'm still struggling with that one.
