Logitech G25 Wheel problem

Hello GTplanet. I'm having a bit of a problem with my G25 wheel, and since i've got a feeling that the majority of users in here have G25's or G27's i thought it would be appropriate to ask this question in here...

The thing is, that one week ago, i was packing up my stuff due to me having to move to a new apartment. I packed everything into boxes including, of course, my newly bought G25 wheel.

Then yesterday, as i began unpacking my stuff i set up my computer, playstation, TV and so on and so forth. But as i connect my wheel, i turn on the PS3 to find out that the wheel doesn't do its usual 900 degrees when starting up the playstation, nor when starting GT5. Hmmm, weird..:yuck:

So i went into arcade mode and got ready for a quick race, and here is the point.
My pedals work, my gearshift, both sequential and h-shift, works, all buttons on the gearbox and all buttons on the steering wheel works, plus the paddles work to, BUT the wheel itself does not respond at all!

So to sum up everything works with my G25, except for the wheel itself when steering the car.

Please help, it's right up to christmas and i cannot afford to repair this, let alone buy a new one :(

Sounds like it could be a power issue as the right light is the power light, is it plugged in properly (power)? Maybe try another socket for the power adapter.

The only quick suggestion I can think of is make sure that all the connectors are firmly plugged in. If the wheel had some sort of electronic issue the lights on the shifter would be blinking.

Even though i do appreciate the help, you're gonna have to break this into pieces to help me:ill:

"Is it plugged in properly?" Plugged in to what properly?

"Maybe try another socket for the power adapter." Again, i think i need explaining, as i am not that much into electronics.

I am so sorry to be this demanding :guilty:

Again, thanks for the help, but am i missing something? I can only plug the pedals and shifter in to the wheel, the cabel which has USB in one end, is plugged permanently into the wheel, is'nt it? Correct me if i'm wrong:indiff:

Your wheel behaves exactly like it does when it is not getting any power.

I know it sounds dumb, but first make sure you turned on the power from the power outlet in your wall.

Also try to plug it into another outlett from another place in your house, or try plug in some other kind of elctronic in the outlett you use now, to make sure its not the outlett that is faulty.

Check the power plug (the socket that plugs into the wall) and put it into another wall socket to rule that out. Also the G25 has a small external power brick/transformer (connected to the same cord), check to make sure the plug isn't loose from the brick and make sure the same cord is plugged into the bottom of your G25 wheel unit properly also.

Infact check and double check every cord.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say maybe you've forgotten there's a seperate power line goes from the wall outlet to the wheel via a transformer? If you forget this you'll get pedal and shifter control but the wheel will be dead.

Am i really missing something this obvious? My wheel is not plugged into any power outlet in the wall, and it was'nt either while it was working... :(

It has to have been or it wont work, that IS your problem.

The lousy 5 volt low current the wheel gets from the USB plug cannot supply the wheel with juice for the two electric motors.

I'm pretty sure the power source of my wheel is the USB cable that i stick into my PS3 - I simply do not have a cable that goes into the power outlet in the wall. I have a G25, could it be that you're talking about a G27 and maybe there is a difference? This is getting weird...

And trust me i am not just trying to be annoying, i really never have plugged it into the wall, and it has always worked up to now..

If you didn't have it plugged into the wall the wheel motors wont work, the exact symptom you are having now. As I said in the last post, a lousy 5 volt USB plug will not supply enough power for the two G25 electric motors.

Take a look under your wheel, look close and you will see 4 sockets, 1 shifter unit, 1 pedals, 1 USB and the last if for the power adapter (missing). You will also see a slot of 4 wires for channel out the back, 4 wires, one of them is for the power wire.

Oh my god, please PLEASE forgive me, has it really been this long since i played GT5?... I've been overseeing the power outlet all the time :guilty: This is so humiliating, i feel so dumb...

Geez...

Honestly - it's always been plugged into the wall , maybe you just never noticed? Or forgot?

The 5volts that comes out a usb socket is not enough to drive the motors in the wheel unit which is why it needs a mains source to drive it.

Look on the bright side - we all got a laugh and you know how to fix your problem - win/win :sly:

Ok. You are definetely missing the point. You need your wheel connected to your wall socket. It needs power.

Edit: thank god you finally got it. Thought you were kidding initially ;)

Geez...

Have to say... this very moment I feel the same way.

Havent used my G25 for almost a year and also forgot about the AC power.

Even took apart my H shifter thinking it was a loose cable.

Good thing I searched here before posting lol.

guys. mine has all the cables connected but isnt working, like the other guy said. everything is working except the steering wheel. i have downloaded everything, but it aint working, its not registering that it is steering.

Is it a internal issue? is it broken inside. is the motors broken or something, please help me dudes.
