Do you think we will ever get mechanical damage in Aspec?

Since the update seems to rule out the "AI can't drive with damage" theory and still no damage in Aspec I am thinking there are no other feasiblity reasons to leave damage out and thus feel we are just never going to have Aspec damage :(

I whacked up the front of an AI GTR Spec-V yesterday, I believe damage is there. It took a LOT of hits to do it, its just not what we expect.

I'm pretty sure he meant mechanical damage... Like in online.

I agree. It would be nice to have the option. It would make those 3 lap races interesting... No more bulldozing your way to the front on the first turn.

My mistake, I fixed the title to reflect mechanical damage. 👍

I agree, I don't care much for visual damage as it is it's fine. Mechanical damage I will definitely like to see on A-Spec and B-Spec (Bob's gotta learn not to crash much), the way it is online and now on practice modes works pretty well. The reason I think they might not have implemented it yet is due to the AI, they crash into each other at times so you can possibly create a crash for them and win the race without much effort, they have to figure that one first.

Well the current alternative (bouncing off them and using them instead of brakes) hardly seems any better and other games with damage have managed to get around this for quite some time so it can't be that hard...

In my experience in a game with damage, when you force a crash on someone else, it also damages you at least enough that you are also out of the running even if not as bad as what you did to others.

That said even if it did allow for crashing the AI drivers, only those who want to abuse the system would be doing it and they can already abuse the bumper car aspect of no damage as it is so I don't see how it would be bad for anyone who isn't already abusing the game anyway.
