Jaguar E-Type Coupe '61

Transmission : FR
Weigth : 1038kg

Weigth-to-power ratio : 2.353

---

This old lady smokes. I couldn't make her quit totally.

This is a road setup with drift elements. If some of you guys love the A/C Cobra, she's the little sister of them, but more stable I guess.
I tried to balance her with unconventional methods. I almost tried to use the stock LSD but totally opened the custom one instead and it's the first time I put no camber in front of a car.

Rome is 1'15.380, Suzuka 2'15.450. It's also a fair car to enter in the European championship in extreme. You will win, but make no mistakes !

Any comments, improvements or suggestions are welcomed as usual.

Hi how often do you race it around Rome ( By the time i am guessing it is the Rome in the Extreme, European Championship races) ? As i have been messing with this car tuning too and have managed 1.12.791 and within hundreds of that many times .. I was just wondering is it as i know the track well ?? ( I test every European car i buy around this track) or the tune i use .. I am just curious one GT5 player to another no disrespect intended , always good to share info etc help each other out etc. .. Plus your are correct she smokes no matter what you do .. I bought mine from the UCD on the log book it says previous owner Cancer Man Address the X-files lol.
I did find with this one that it is sometimes best to do nothing with it when cornering - come off of the the throttle early and just let her roll around (e.g. last quater of Rome when you see the red (driving line) release everything and just let her glide until you apex the corner at the end of the short run then throttle release and throttle full and she should go around nicely ) .. I am going to measure her on Deep Forest soon see how she copes with more intensive turns at speed etc i have some times of equalish BHP and era cars to yardstick against.
Again no disrespect i mean it in a helpful way.

Not a bad tune, although you can get away with this car with 322HP via no engine upgrades except ECU.

With that said, all transmission upgrades are needed, as are the gearbox upgrades.

This car is definitively one of the better classic cars...it's so...drifty.

Well, I'm a tuner, not a driver, lol. Ppl using my Abt setup made like 6:56 or less around the Nür and I'm stuck at 7:02, and the same for my beloved Scu :D... Maybe I should stop giving out my secrets weapons :) (the two coming one tonigth are surprising)

No problems really. I recon 1:15' is ******... But with an adapted, closer, gearbox and a racing wheel, I probably could have done better :), and the setup was half-made at that moment. With that car I also always powerslides around some corners just for the fun.

I think on Suzuka, you'll have really more challenge to beat me with that car (but again I think I used a long gearbox) because this time is more made with a time attack spirit than with a tuning spirit.

These times are only for the purpose of knowing "somehow" the potential of a car with the times of these tracks I know well. I have yet to find a car to drive under 1:00 around Rome with a stock gearbox. :)

If you want some hard times to beat from me, you'll have the two ones I made with the Citroën 2CV Type A, or a 0:40'.050 with a go-kart around automn ring mini (alone), but I won't be the best competitor of the game - online, I'm an eternal 2nd :)

I always post tunes with max power and torque, and minimal weigth because of the LSD/suspension.
Also tuning is really easier for aeros at more than 300hp.

Thank you for your inputs guys ! 👍

I did a few laps around the Ring, and i love the stock setup. I find the car very easy to drive at full power.
I´ll have a try later with your setup to see if it improves my times there.
I´ll post the times here.

BlueShift have you tried the Sauber C9 around Rome , i was getting low 56' but with a tranny fitted .. Maybe it may do it under 1 minute without ( haven't tried though) . I aint the best technical driver so i guess it maybe done by someone with more aptitude than i. The next best was the Jaguar XJ9 low 57' but again with a tranny. Not tried anything non European as i use the extreme European Championships to do test on new European cars i buy (to get xp and £, laps 2 and 3 are the only clear runs) Then i try Deep Forest for handling.

I tried the e-type tune and it was terrible, it spun out way too easily. I'm sure the tuner is good but the old JAG needs some work.

Please try the default setup before fast judging this car... She's a drifter car to begin with...

I was running it on the default setting on A and B spec before I tried your tune. No disrespect but the car was much loser after your tune. If you tune this to be a drift car you should've said something more than it has "drift elements". I also find it hard to believe that Jaguar was designing cars for drifting in 1961. I would like to restate that with all due respect that I am sure you are a good tuner, but your E-type tune did not work for my driving style.

I don't understand.
You maxed it out and with default settings, you find it more stable ?

I have to verify if I made a typo in the setup because I 100% garanty it's not the case. Verify yourself if you copied it right : on this one the front is higher than the rear, this is not a typo and you may have copied it wrongly as it's unusual.

On a side note, Jaguar didn't made 440hp E-ytpe. They made a 100hp car that, if you give that 440hp engine, drifts a lot.

I bought a few of these from UCD but among so many others in garage, just not found the time yet. I think 440hp would be doable though if suspension is set soft enough and maybe not attempt the semi-race flywheel upgrade.

Ok, well I misread earlier, should have looked at your OP as I see it was a 440hp car from the start. Mine only has 418HP for some reason? I did an engine rebuild... oh well.

This was just a quick and dirty trial and error tune I made up on the front section esses of the Nurburgring... found a semi-drivable combination in about 15 minutes and made the round trip on Sport Softs... not perfect, a spin off the track here and there but made it full circle in 8:28"

Jaguar E-Type Coupe '61 - Nurburgring Concept Tune
418HP/1038KG
+ Max HP
+ Max Weight Reduction
+ Chassis Reinforcement
+ Sport Softs
+ FC Tran @ 261 MPH
+ FC LSD @ 14/49/21
+ FC SUS @ RH +4/+1; SR 4.3 / 3.9; DE 8/8; DC 8/8; A/R 7/6; Cam 0/0; Toe 0/0
* BC@5/5
* Stock Clutch, Stock Flywheel, Stock Drive Shaft

again... quick and dirty concept tune... stock drivetrain parts help quiet the car's desire to burn rubber... but on nur once you got momentum gear shifting is kinda irrelevant anyways
