Further explanation of theme, in the words of our Week 03 Winner, Revolution.:

I want to see shots which remind me of the hit motoring show which I'm sure
everybody has seen, Top Gear. So, that means heavy vignettes, lots of gradient
overlays and some stunning imagery! Try the cool and warm filters in the ingame
camera if you're less adept with Photoshop. To inspire yourselves, check out the
Top Gear Youtube channel and their website.

Note: Don't feel limited to the Top Gear test track, the boys on the show are always
doing epic road trips and drives through the countryside, so go exploring!

CARS: Road cars only
LOCATIONS: any
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: See above.

Do not vote for your own entry.
Have confidence in your photo; don't try to sway the poll.
Poll is up until the week's Thursday.
In the event of a tie, a 24 hour poll is created to end Friday.
In the event of a second tie, judge's vote is deciding factor.
Don't forget to vote in both polls during H2H weeks!
Winners have 48 hours to get their new theme to the host.
If the winner can't provide it in time, the runner-up gets to choose.

The Lamborghini Murcielago is way out there. Too cool and realistic. The long roadside cliff by the ocean reminds me of a track from NFS Hot Pursuit 2. It may not look Top Gear related, but maybe an island lap race. 💡

Top Ger doesn't necessarily need to be on the Top Gear test track.

But I voted for the F40. It kinda reminds me of this...

I quite like the 4th pic, the Ferrari. That, IMO, screams Top Gear, but the 9th pic (the two Lotuses) is also pretty good, it just needs a bit more vignette.

I was going to include your entry in the top 20 until I noticed that your entry didn't link to a full size image, it was simply a 500 pixel preview, which was a shame as it looked like a good photo.

I've voted for Terronium's piece, like the colours, the realistic feel and the car itself. There are many great images in this round, but that one is the best for me.

In the "New to GTP Photomode Competitions.." thread stickied in this very forum there are a couple of tutorials on how to best present your entry for the competitions:

In short though, (unless you use Flickr), you use whichever software you like to resize your Photomode entry to the preview size of 500 pixels across. Be sure to keep your original full size image though, don't save over it. Then upload both images (full size and preview size) to the internet, and take the URL for each and arrange them in your post like this:

[ IMG]*preview image URL*[ /IMG][ /URL]

This creates a clickable preview image which links to your full size Photomode entry. Hope that helps in future^

the task of going TG was to difficult for me so i let it pass.
I voted for the orange focus, wich is the TG pic inhere. What a pic!

I can see Jeremy laughing and grinning away while doing crazy with this car, whilst saying: "Good god!, my face just became longer on one side!"

About the Lexus though, in my opinion it's the least TG shot out here, because they use filters in real life top gear, not stuff like that.
Ah well, Everybody got his own tastes it seems from the votes.

Regarding the Lexus shot, didn't they do something similar with a Japanese themed piece on the show? I might be wrong....

As a side note, what exactly is Top Gear inspired about the F40 shot apart from it being set at the test track? Am I being thick? :dunce:

It's a stunning looking photo I just don't get the connection....

I don't think anyone is going to have an argument, far from it! The more the merrier when it comes to entries, it's just that I don't get it. That's my fault, not yours! :lol:

It's a brilliant photo with perfect lighting and an amazing composition but I feel like I'm the only one not understanding the Top Gear bit! I get the feeling I'm going to look like an idiot when someone explains it XD

I had to vote for the R8. It just screams "Top Gear" to me, and I can see that camera shot in the show with the car rocketing down into a corner and flames spitting out of the exhaust.

I voted for the F-40 in terms of sense of speed, action and focus that it portrayed. The only thing it lacked was the vignette and I didn't feel that was enough not to vote for it. There are several more that easily could have gotten my vote. The F-40 just hit me the best I suppose.

I'll admit I know very, very little about the show... but of what I do know, the F40 shot seems to sum up the "MOAR POWAH" thing pretty well, with a dab of oppo for good measure

Moglet, although the lack of the vignetting in the F40 shot, there is something that screams top gear to me. Probably just the track, but it looks like something I would probably see or would want to see in that show. I am no Top Gear affictionado, though.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to get as many votes as I've gotten thus far (and it's not even over yet!) but I'm still expecting to lose out to the F40 pic though (I still hate you, Poli ). Not a lack of confidence, I can just admit defeat when it's almost staring me dead in the face.

T12 and Poli's Shots are Stunning but In my opinion GT5 photographer's LFA shot is Just more creative and a better related shot to the Theme ,I know what T-12 was trying to recreate with the SV Dubai Episode ,Never seen the Episode with the F40 though.

Did you see the LFA episode? I believe it was S14E07. They did that so I thought I'd go out on a limb and replicate a image from that show, granted it's not the cliche approach but I was hoping to be the odd one out :dopey:

Also to be fair they did talk about the f40 on top gear, but that was before the reboot so it was very old edition of top gear, nothing to like what we know top gear as now. Video here!

I know my shot are lack of Top Gear touch & feel, lack of vignette. It is hard for me to combine those two elements, good vignette & good composite of car shot.
So what I do is focus on car shot only

I just had to vote for the F40 pic. True it doesn't have a vignette and colour distortion around the edge. However if you watch the show they don't actually have those effects applied to every camera angle! This image is just nostalgic of top gear to me and I feel that if you showed the image to a member of the general public and asked where this image came from the answer would be "top gear".
I am somewhat very disappointed that I didn't find this thread earlier and enter myself however as I feel there is lots to be had with "top gear style" in photomode compos.
