heck, don't get me started.
Too late.
I'ts the second half of the 30s. Let's supose you bought a Delage Chasis. Or Delahaye. Or Talbot. Or anything for that matter. You had several coachbuilders from which to choose, and practically all of them could turn your chassis into a handmade work of art. There has never been another era of such beautiful automobiles as this one.
Figoni & Falaschi may be the most famous coachbuilder ever:
1939 Delahaye 165M:
1937 Talbot Lago T150 SS:
one of a handful of Delages they did, a D6-70 Le Mans (yes, it's a race car, check out the leather straps for the hood):
The famous Sha of Iran Bugatti T57:
Rols Royce Phantom II:
One of their more extreme designs, the Delahaye 135 Competition Court Coupe (yes, race car too, raced at Le Mans with a small engine, using aerodynamics as advantage):
another extreme Talbot Lago, this another T150 SS with full aero cover:
they even did Cadillacs, as this 1937 V12 model:
and while the company almost died because of WWII, by the start of the 50s they were more or less back in business and still doing their thing with Talbots, such as this 1950 T15LB:
they also did several Simcas in the 50s, maybe the wildest was this Sport 7 Coupe from 1954.
I'm not really sure when F&F folded and went out of business as coachbuilders, but they produced the most beautiful car ever made in my opinion. The Talbot Lago T150 SS is, for me, the most striking, beautiful, flowing automobile ever made. The was NOT a SINGLE straight panel in all the hand-formed aluminum. Just chew that for a second and take into accout this was made in 1937.
I'll be playing here a lot, I love this stuff.
