the mercedes c63 AMG problem

hello, i have 1 merc c63 AMG and its fast and stuff....
but, it steers like crap! and ive got 766hp out of it and a friend of mine 840!
though i dont think i installed all parts and stuff.
please help me!

Remember, the car was originally built for 400BHP, the chassis can't handle 800BHP. I'd suggest either removing most of the mods or heading over to the tuning section and asking their advice. If the car still won't take corners well after tuning, then you'll have to accept that not every car should be tuned that much.

Have you tuned the suspension at all? 766 HP is uncontrollable with the stock suspension. Why would you even crank it up that much. Yes you CAN do it, but the car will never handle the way a 800 hp car should. It might be good for drag racing or something thats about it.

Errrrr.... it's a Mercedes, they are renowned for being a bag of fail once you get to any corners. The SLS is ok, but the rest are terrible. It's just GT replicating things correctly LOL

Reduce the weight, install Fully Costumisable Suspension, LSD and maybe Sport Soft- or some Racing-Tires.
After that you´ll have to tweak the settings of the suspension and the LSD.
LSD:
Initial Torque: 25
Acc: 35
Brake: 10 (if you want a loose rear while braking like I do, if not => 15-25)

Suspension:
Camber (f/r): 2.5/1.5
Toe (f/r): -0.20/-0.15
Rideheight (f/r): max low
Springs (f/r): 13.5/13.0
Damper compression (f/r): 4/4
Damper extension (f/r): 9/9
Rollbares (f/r): 4/5

For me it works really good, maybe you give it a try :D

Well that's just a big bag of false. Plenty of Mercedes handly very well, it depends what they're made for. As the person above alluded to though, if you double the HP of a car from 400bhp to 800bhp you can't suddenly expect the car to handle well, it wasn't build for that power.

Nothing that weight reduction, an aero kit, and a racing suspension, and most importantly, racing softs can't cure.

But it does cost a lot in order to be able to control this care with that much power.

I have fun watching Bob drive this around the Nurb with sports hards. He power slides all over, but he always manages to eek out the win.

It handles fine for a fairly heavy car with too much power strapped onto it. Brake earlier and don't mash the throttle.

So the fact that every Mercedes that Top Gear have tested has done miserably compared to it's similarly powered rivals tells you nothing? Seriously, Mercedes cars, EVEN AMG's, are hideous when on track.
Don't get me wrong, they are fun (serious oversteer) but they are devastatingly slow.

That's funny, the staff seems to think pretty highly of them.

How don´t you want to have problems?!, First unistall some parts, then adjust the suspension...

The car handles terribly in real life. So adding 250 more HP to it just going to make it worse. I'm personally glad it handles terrible, it makes it more realistic. I swear when I drive that thing I can feel the chassis flexing around the corners. Theres times where ill be driving and it will have that wierd FWD characteristic where it understeers in a turn, you let off the gas, and then it the car will jerk and get grip again. I have full weight reduction, LSD, and semi racing suspension on it.

Don't take everything Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson says as truth.

Have you driven a real Mercedes on the track?

I suggest you check the lap times on this link before telling people they are spreading 'bunk crap'. Video's prove nothing, lap times prove everything.

And none of that is down to opinions, that is down to outright laptimes by 'the stig'.

Yes, CLS 63 AMG. Annoyed the hell out of me after half an hour.

This just plain isnt a good set up.

AND btw any AMG car handles amazingly. The SL65 is an extremely fast and good handling car.

Watch the video of the SL55 in the wet that is posted above. The car is going from understeer to oversteer then undertseer, then oversteer etc etc etc. It's shocking.

No it isnt, you saying that makes you sound like you have never driven fast in the rain before. Look at his time 1:33.

And in the same conditions, a 350bhp (nearly 200bhp less than the Mercedes) Ford Focus RS500 lapped 2.4 second faster ;) 2.4 seconds slower per lap means that, on a ~1:30 lap the focus would be able to lap the mercedes in something like 37.5 laps LOL

Watch the in-car shots of the merc, the understeer/oversteer/understeer is CLEARLY visible. If you think I've never driven a fast car before then you are ever so slightly wrong LMAO

Try this, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Every time someone uses Top Gear as a benchmark, resource, or otherwise treats their verdicts as fact I die a little inside.

The show is entertainment. I'd generally trust the laptimes the stig puts up, but I treat the host segments as comedy based around cars.

Yes, CLS 63 AMG. Annoyed the hell out of me after half an hour.

Are you serious with those comparisons?

Large E-class and S-class sedans, and some large, heavy 2-seaters that I'm guessing are considered grand tourers compared to cars like Boxsters, hot hatches, and rally-inspired cars that all (not sure about the Maloo, but isn't that the modern day El Camino?) weigh much less?

I've got a C63 maxed out to almost 900 hp, and I'll be sure to try out some of the tunes referenced in this thread. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Can you say power to weight ratio?

And don't worry about quoting the lap times of the SLR or SL both of which bested... Zonda, Murcielago, and every car you have listed.

Exactly.... He failed to take anything into consideration besides his precious lap times.

Oh, and make sure you check out the RKM Motorsport tune, by far the best in my opinion. And my C63 is maxxxxxxed out.

I am ONLY talking about lap times, at NO POINT have I said that anyhting the presenters say is fact. Why can't you lot learn to read posts before getting all high and mighty?
