New setup: Version 4. *I'm back! New Rig, G25, Full Wood frame. Custom design.
April 13, 2015
80ft of 2x4's, some plywood and a bag of screws.
After selling off my old rig and wheel about a year ago... I started new plans from scratch. First was to build a better computer. Then sourced a new-used G25, because I wanted the sequential.
I drew up some plans for the cockpit by replicating the interior dimensions of my Mitsubishi Evolution X.
The final product turned out very close by referencing the position of the seat to the floor, pedals, shifter and steering wheel. The Evo's seat is not height adjustable and the wheel does not telescope so it made positioning everything quite easy once you center the steering wheel.
In turn, the cockpit feels pretty comfortable for an extended period of time.
The frame design incorporates some build elements from other rigs I've seen online. It feels good to be back after a short hiatus without a Sim.
Plans for a handbrake are in the works. Not sure if I will be going the custom DIY route or picking up something retail.
Feel free to ask any questions. I would love to share the build design.

Old setup: Version 3. *Finally a full frame, now with real handbrake.*
June 8, 2011
Purchased all the materials & hardware at the local home improvment store, with the exception of the racing seat and universal choke cable that I used for the handbrake.
The final total was just around $250 not including the wheel. Great set up for a budget build. Also, by choosing the cable operated handbrake you don't have to worry about voiding the Logitech warrantee.
Hand Brake Solution Thread: (Old version handbrake still functions the same way as the new one.)
