I wanted to reinstall my game because of buggy things happening like my PP being listed wrong even after I refresh thumbnails, totally wrong bizzare thumbnails, entire cars, installed parts constantly going missing etc.

I checked the size of the installed files in gt5. it said 6,080Mb. Ok 6GB I thought.

I went into the PS3 game data and checked it there, its 9508MB.

I just wanted to know is there even a point to that determine size of installed files button on GT5, especially when its completely wrong?

And I installd GT5 onto my hdd when it came out, yet to this day I still see the installing logo coming up...

I just dont get so many things in this game...

EDIT: Dammit, I just deleted my game data so I can reinstall GT5 and now over 80% of my thumbnails are missing and almost ALL of them are wrong!

My car list and dates are also all messed up!! The default sort by most recent aquired seems to be cars I got weeks ago and the other cars seem to be randomly scattered. Everything is off!

Even the cars that were set to online are the wrong type in the thumbnail. Scratch that The cars that I had set to online are not even the right cars!

I propose someone inform PD Instead of having to individually fix every car thumbnail, add a refresh all thumbs button!
no matter how long it lates
. Its better than doing each one manually.
Also sometimes even after you refresh the thumbnail the PP is still listed wrong on the oustside to when you go inside

eg on car list is say 680, actual pp in setting 611.

Welcome to GT5: "The real madness stimulator"

The garage in GT5 is a complete and utter mess! Cars disappear, hundreds of thumbnails are lost and you have to create each one individually (but there's "select multiple" for favorites?!?!), sorting does not work at all, PP are inconsistent (have to go to setup to get actual data), no "sort by power-to-weight", no user-selectible units of measurement (kgfm?!? who on earth uses THAT?!?), only 100 favorites out of 2,000 (you've got to be kidding me - at 4 tuning setups per car I can only keep 25 favorite cars!), no listing for duplicate cars, no indicator for needed wash/oil change/engine rebuild/chassis rebuild, and the list goes on and on...

PD, please fix the garage!

Isn't it possible to use the "choose multiple" function and then just add thumbnails to all of them? It didn't exist at the time I had to move my game from one PS3 to another.

Doesnt work.

It will get 3 votes only and they will all be mine....

Yeah, I've observed the same problem. People seem to just come in, see the top-voted stuff, and vote on the top-voted stuff that appeals to them, while consequently disregarding a thousand other suggestions, some of which could be more important/useful.

For example, I suggested fixing the broken headlights. They used to shine horizontally even if you were going up a big hill, when they really should have been shining up the hill, so you were driving blind. Now, this seems to have been fixed in 1.06 (I think I got the right one), so I removed it, but when I removed it the suggestion still had just my three votes. You'd figure that the ability to see, saving night racing in the game altogether, would be more important/useful than the vast majority of the crap people suggested, but it didn't have the votes to show it.

haha I dont like it when people like Owen.C93 just tap the feedback sign! :sly: Its like in the movies where people are in dire need of help and the offical rules cant help them but the black lady just points to the sign and makes them wait lol.

I have had to do 2 data reinstalls... Both time hald my thumbnails were gone.

Its annoying that its this buggy and they knew it happens so much they made a menue item to fix it!

WTF? If you know its this common how about fix the problem?

Oh GOSH don't remind me... When I lost my game data I spent a painful hour refreshing my car thumbnails! Since I keep multiple copies of most of my cars I use the thumbnail to tell them apart! :ouch: Even after I have done this I'm still noticing the thumbnails don't all keep updated. Very frustrating. A refresh all button would be very welcome!

Why in the world should you even need to refresh a thumbnail? The fact that the code was so bugged that they had thumbnail issues is bad enough. The only thing worse is that PD decided to "fix it" by allowing you to create a new thumbnail (the SYMPTOM) rather than debugging the code (the PROBLEM). The last patch should have been called GT5 v0.9.7 beta. We're way past time for v1.0 to come out here.

That's what it's there for. Put a link in your sig or something that way people see it every time you post, instead of just the once in the case of this thread.

If people want it I'm sure they will vote for it.

haha yeah it always scares me when im playing my 'real gamesave' and i see a car in a weird color until i remember that i went all paint happy on that car then reloaded the game save. it keeps the thumbnail of the car from the previous game save. have to "create thumbnail" a few times for it to refresh back to it's current state.

Indeed.. I decided to sort by PP to see cars in a certain range and I was surprised that some cars appeared there.. upon closer inspection, the PP was dramatically different in the rotating car view (By +-30) than the sorted list implied and so I wasted 10 minutes looking at cars in a range because I'd have to go into each rotating car view to get the real number.. which is not only more time consuming but I would assume a bigger strain on my PS3 having to load each cars full model one after the other.... I turned the game off shortly after due to disappointment.

Well guys, my old fat 60GBPS3 gone. So I had the same kind of problem when installing and playing in the brand new PS3. PD really should patch this.

3/4 of mine do not have thumb nails now either for the same reasons above, a game reinstall. I will *not* be creating them all one at a time.

installed parts constantly going missing etc.

I'm glad you posted this because i though i was losing my marbles. Sometimes i tune and paint a car and when i come back to it is stays the colour i painted it but all tuning work is undone (including strut braces and engine work).

Hmm, i had something like this happen, but it only let me realize that the game does not auto save when you tune up the car. I tuned the car and went online and the room kind of crashed so I had to exit the game came back and noticed the last car i tuned only had the paint job and all the parts were reset, but i still had my money. So i tuned the car again and lo and behold it did not save after tuning. So i just switched cars to make the game auto save.

I do have the thumbnail issue with a few cars, but all i do is switch to that car and it usually changes the thumbnail. Might be something to do with the back up save feature, because if you notice when you have a back up file it's actually a little bit larger than the original game save. There is some copy protection built into that back up save.

You might be onto something here because my game freezes quite a lot. I'll keep an eye on this. Thanks for your help 👍

No problem, but I think PS3 should have came with a disk defrag tool, because I know GT5 will cause information to become very fragmented. If your game is freezing a lot then you might be either running low of HDD space or your PS3 might be on it's way out(only if it freezes with other games as well). Always back up your save in case you have to delete your GT5 files and reinstall HDD data.

I only have 3 games GT5, GTA4 and Medal of honor. I have six pictures copied from GT5 to XMB and one music album on my 250GB PS3 which is only 14 weeks old. I was hoping my problem was an issue with my crappy internet connection.
Point taken on the save backups, I'll have a look for my recipt since it's still under warranty :)
