When/Where:
- Public room every Tuesday @ 8PM EDT / 12AM GMT
- Room number will be posted in the thread when it opens up.
- Or search through the Lobby for a room titled "Toscana TUESDAYS"
- Room are likely to be open for 4+ hours so come and go as you please.
Restrictions:
- PP will vary but usually fall between 350-650. Mostly ≤500.
- Street cars mostly with the occasional Touring/GT races.
- Sports tires (SS/SH depending on PP, RH for racers).
- No driving aids. Ever. No exceptions. ABS is fine.
The Mission:
A gathering with the main intention to have fun but a secondary intention to increase the driving skill of everyone involved. Twisty custom tracks on sports tires requires precise car control. Your driving ability WILL increase by joining this event. This is intended for drivers using wheels; a wheel will benefit you greatly, but you won't be turned away if you are using a DS3.
Requirements:
- A sense of humor. We're all about having good time, so you should try to have fun.
- Mics are strongly ecouraged. Idle chatter almost always leads to people having more fun.
- Driving wheels are strongly encouraged for the best car control (but again, using a DS3 is fine).
- Penalties are unrealistic so they will be off. Clean driving is an absolute must; abide by the OLR standards.
- All drivers must watch the entire collection of videos from iRacing Driving School (elapsed time approx. 1 hour).
- There's no way I can really enforce that you watch those, but seriously... do it. It's nothing but helpful.
- DRIVE CLEAN! I cannot stress this enough. If your driving is deemed reckless you will be booted.
- Damage will be on Light to lessen the stress of wrecking while driving on unfamiliar tracks.
The Theme:
This is all about Toscana. We may occasionally visit the Toscana rally track Valle d'Orcia included with the game, but the main focus is on using the Course Maker. This may include tracks randomly generated on the fly and mostly custom created tracks by me as well as YOU! If you have a great Toscana track let me know and we'll put it in next week's rotation. Toscana is a Change Time track so there may be some night racing and driving during twilight hours. However, I will do my best to save the light as it's very difficult to navigate unknown tracks in the dark. Until we get more custom Toscana tracks made by you we will spend a good bit of rotation on the custom tracks Anello Italiano (1), Passo Alfredo (2), and R1600Turbo's Targa Toscana (3).
Anello Italiano means "Italian Ring." For drivers that no longer feel challenged by the Nürburgring, here is your new nemesis. You will learn to love it. 80 heavily banked corners in 5 miles; it WILL put your skills to the test and destroy your tires at the same time. Passo Alfredo translates easily to "Alfredo Pass." With 73 corners in 5 miles and moderate banking, this track isn't quite as severe as Anello but still resembles a sinuous strip of Alfredo pasta. With R1600Turbo's first Targa Toscana stage he managed to squeeze 88 corners into 5.5 miles; the banking isn't very intense but there are still many tricky corners that make this course a challenge.
