I like the new format, more interesting racing as opposed to last year. Good not see Micheal not on the podium, for a change. Althought I suppose all the rich boys in Ferrari might start moaning if hes not winning as much now (hopefully)?.

The new format is definitely more interesting, but overhauling the rules in any format of racing (well, any sport at all, really) is very confusing and it takes time to get used to it.

Did I just see ontrack overtaking in an f1 race:eek:  ??
Shame Webbers Jag let him down he was on Schumis coat tails for a while there.

Yeah, I'm impressed with it's performance, now if they could just work out those reliability issues. :irked:

Yay! Its a long time since Ferrari is not on the podium.
Schumi's driving with a aerodynamically "faulty" car is commendable.
Also, the Ferrari shows that it is indeed reliable because with the air pattern messy and not able to enter the ducts to the radiator the Ferrari still finishes.

Well, I heard last year that everyone was saying that Jaguar thinks they have a chance this year. They didnt do that bad, just bad luck really.

I know Kimmi is going to kick some major ass this year. I knew he would be good back in 2001.

He starts in 15th, holds 1st position from M.Schumi for a load of laps. He gets a drive thru penalty, and he still ends up in 3rd holding off Michael for the rest of the race.

Coulthard is also very good. He was something like 12 seconds ahead of the pack. I feel bad for Ralf, because he got shafted a few times by some crazy drivers.

I'm also glad to see both Jordan Fords bail out. I hate Ford, and I wish Jordan still used Honda engines. Even though Honda paid Jordan, what, $16 million not to use their engines.

I think Montoya got even more screwed by the safety car - twice he built up a 15 second lead only for the safety car to come out and bunch the field up. Still, silly spin, he got the left rear on the kerbing there and as soon as he touched the throttle, around it went.

I find it hard to feel for him. He was slower than Montoya all weekend and made more mistakes. His spin was his own mistake, the other car was ahead, but still left him plenty of room.

He was unlucky with the Heidfeld incident, but Heidfeld was not crazy. He only had 1 front wheel attached to the steering and broken one pointing him straight at Ralf.

I would have liked to see Montoya win it if he hadn't of spun with 11 laps left in the race.

It's nice to see Shumacher not on the podium for a change though.

I can't believe that I saw passing on track either. That never happens in F1.

It also sucks for Barrichello because he was pretty strong until he wiped out. Its a shame he had to hit the wall.

Although its pointless. I want to infer who would have won if nothing wrong had happened to anyone.

Its obvious that it would have been a Ferrari 1-2 finish, had nothing gone wrong.

But, I think besides the 2 Ferrari's, Kimmi should have won. I think he would have been able to hold off the disintegrating Ferrari for the rest of the race had he not been penalized for speeding.

I really hope Kimmi can show everyone what he's made of this year.

I disagree - given the amount of fuel Schumacher had to take on when he pitted to remove the bargeboard I think he had to stop anyway - meaning that Raikkonen would have won.

If by 'nothing wrong' you mean it was a dry start - well, that will have to wait for another time, as we don't know how much fuel the Ferraris had on board due to their early stops to change to drys.

Given the pace shown it seems that McLaren have made a large step forward and are at least at Williams level - I am inclined to think Ferrari might still have a (smaller) advantage, but it was completely masked by the fact that we couldn't determine what their starting fuel load was.

OK, it will take a pretty knowledgable race fan to know this. But:

How big are the F1 gas tanks?
How much does gas weigh?
How many MPG's or laps/gallon do F1 cars generally get?

In an F1 car. What would be a big disadvantage in weight? 10lbs? or more like 50lbs?

I think that an F1 car uses around 3.5 litres (not sure what that is in gallons) per lap of the Albert Park circuit.

Tanks vary in size, there's no mandated size. It's believed they vary in size from 80 litres to 110 litres.

I think on the telecast they mentioned a litre of fuel weighs about 750 grams.

i reckon that Jaques is an a$$hole, definatley screwed Jenson out of a good result
those BAR's did look good though (was on the outside of turn 14 at the race) and those cars did look very stable through there, if they get some reliability they could be a force

...had an amusing episode during the V8 race on Friday when Skaife went off right in front of where i was, as it turned out that corner was made up of Ford fans and absolutley gave it to him...FANTASTIC
