I have it dialed in perfectly, been playing all day and these settings work great. Very precise steering and good FF. You can make the game feel really, really bad or completely unplayable if you set these wrong.

FF-
Vibration Strength- 100%
Wheel Strength- 100%
Wheel Weight- 30%

Wheel options-
Steering Deadzone- 0%
Steering Saturation- 100%
Steering Linearity- 0
Throttle Deadzone- 0%
Throttle Saturation- 100%
Brake Deadzone- 0%
Brake Saturation- 100%

**EDIT** June 9, 2011: (I actually noticed this a while ago but forgot to update this thread)
I have noticed one really bad thing in Dirt3, I think it's a major bug actually. In snow especially I can feel this, that just like the rumble effect pulls the wheel to one side in the menus, it seems to do the same in the game at certain times.

It basically just feels like the car is pulling to the left with strong rumble effect going through the wheel. When I see this- mainly on snow with regular rally cars, I turn down rumble from 100 to 70 or 80, that seems to help or even eliminate the problem.
**End EDIT**

If you don't like them for some reason, it's still a good starting point. You could, for instance raise Wheel Weight- from 30% to 50% if you like a lot of damping, or turn it down for a more freed-up wheel. You could set Steering Saturation a little lower if you want slower, mushier feeling steering. Those setting above feel perfect to me though.

I thought these settings helped me a lot. The steering feels more precise and not as loose as it did to me before. Thanks.👍

I set up my steering settings the same way. The first thing I did after the first few races was turn down the "steering linearity", 4 was way to twitchy!

Although for my G27 my Force feedback is 90/100/90. I like a heavier wheel.

hi all
i got dirt 3 today on the ps3 as GAME didnt have it for the PC! :indiff:
will try your settings in a bit the only thing i find strange is thedegrees of rotation on the G25, there doesnt seem to be a way of changing this?? and it is only about 160 degrees in either direction? seems strange to me........
i want 900! or at least to increase it a bit would aid drifting surely??

@AWDwhite_2g -- Yeah 90% wheel weight will give you a very heavy wheel!

@jimboraver -- I see nowhere to change degrees of rotation. I would like more as well, but I think with Dirt3's physics model, the limited rotation let them dial in the FF for the PS3. That could be complete BS, but it seems like the limited wheel rotation is a big part of how the FF was dialled in and set up. It feels "right" just where they have it, if you know what I mean. I'd like to hear what CodeMasters say about that

i know what you mean the more i play it the better it seems :)
would still like some more rotation though especially for Gymkhana:nervous:

Yeah I wouldn't mind being able to adjust in some more rotation, but I guess the fact that we can't might possibly have to do with how they set it up. For sure most of these cars in Dirt 3 have extremely tight steering racks anyway, but I doubt they are all exactly the same.

I suppose that's part of what you sacrifice when you play an "arcade" racer as opposed to a "sim" racer. They did a pretty damn good job with the FF though, so I'm ok with it, how it is now.

No problem- glad it helped!

After completing the game with pretty much this settings (DFGT) except

FFB-
Vibration Strength- 100%
Wheel Strength- 80%
Wheel Weight- 50%

I really enjoyed the game but the FFB didnt seem all that good (bit dead)... Ive recently bought the monaco track and a few cars and I ve been driving single races in it (after completing the career monaco events) and started to try out diferent FFB settings and when I turned down the wheel weight to 0 (zero) and the Wheel strengh up to 100% the FFB sudently came alive, now I can actualy feel loss traction, rear wheel spin, etc, etc... almost like GT5

so this are now my new settings

Wheel options-
Steering Deadzone- 0%
Steering Saturation- 100%
Steering Linearity- 0
Throttle Deadzone- 5%
Throttle Saturation- 100%
Brake Deadzone- 5%
Brake Saturation- 100%

FFB-
Vibration Strength- 100%
Wheel Strength- 100%
Wheel Weight- 0%

If someone (like me) isnt totally happy with the lack of info the FFB gives you then please try this FFB settings and let me know what you think because to me the game came alive after doing so... I suspect the wheel weight kind of overlays the FFB effects

I think I'm doing something like this now:

Vibration Strength- 80%
Wheel Strength- 100%
Wheel Weight-30%

I just got PS3 back from Sony and haven't played D3 in about 3 weeks/ 1 month.

I'll have to check, but I did tweek them a little bit.

Did the force feedback change at all after the patch? I just played it for the first time last night in quite a while and it felt different. Just wondering if anyone else noticed anything like that.

Well, after reading the thread I did some testing at an undibiased subject called my cousin.

I let him drive a stage with a car of his coice with my standrad FF settings, which were 100/80/100.

After that I let him redo it with the 100/100/00 setting without letting him know the intention.

For him the FF felt better indeed and I had to test it. Same exprerience for me but to me the wheel felt a bit too light. So I did a 100/100/30 setting and both of us are happy as never before.
