Figured I'd take the initiative and post up a T500RS + Dirt 3 thread. I am currently playing on the PS3

FFB
The FFB is very strong like one would expect. So strong my arms are very sore even though I turned down my Wheel Strength to like half đź‘Ť

The Force Feedback is just really well done and have currently met my expectations

Bugs:
Currently there are some bugs- like that Flashback feature not working with this wheel (maybe we can bind this to a different button? Haven't bothered trying yet- want to learn the tracks). Also during the menus, sometimes the wheel gets ffb effects and turns.

[edit] Mystery solved, you can either turn your wheel for rewind/fast-forward or just use the pedals (thanks Mr Latte!)

Here's a video put up by Overdoser. I might make my own if I get time as well. If there are any others would be cool to post here too

Settings
I'm currently just using Default wheel settings. Will edit this part. TBD

Speculation
As Mr Latte pointed out elsewhere, the game recognizes the Clutch. I am hoping Dirt 3 devs already have a h-shifter prototype but maybe that's going out on the limb. But it would be nice if they did not have to patch the game when the shifter comes out. Devs usually get devkits way before the public gets access to hardware so perhaps my theory isn't too far fetched.

* Note, I'm not going to rate the game or anything. Just barely got my copy and drove for a few hours. I barely made it out of the 1st rookie section in the tour. I'm loving it so far though

hey thanks for adding my video, having a heck of a great time playing dirt 3 with the wheel.

definitely noticed a lot more options are available in fine tuning the wheel compared to gt5, you can set things like the dead zone as well as limits on turning, also the scaling for the wheel rotation is tunable. I highly recommend just setting the scaling to zero as it's most similar to gt5 this way. with the default settings it felt really awkward at first. Another thing i noticed was how we can set the wheel resistance for turning, i never knew this was a feature of the T500 until Dirt 3.

Just got Dirt 3 on PS3...played 2 races so far. Discovered a bug where T500RS wheel would automatically turned all the way to the left when a race is finished and back to the menu page to update player's reputation. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm running the T500RS with all the feedback settings to the max. The default setting seems to be on the weak side for me. Just personal taste, I guess.

My first impression on the game is that...why the "greenish" tint thru out the game on every screen? During the game, on the menu...everything looks green. At first, I thought something is wrong with my projector...but then I realized it's the game.

Update : Setting to the max is a bit too strong...LOL...need to bump it down to 70 to 80%.

Hi guys, just seen this thread
Mentioned in the other "Unofficial T500 Wheel Thread"

MENU - Wheel Turning to Left on Updating Player Reputation / Menus (See link below its happening on other wheels & PC too)
REPLAYS - Use "Steering Wheel" instead of labelled onscreen buttons for FFW/RWD with Pause and it does work.

It would be best if T500RS users register on the codies forums and report their problems. They will likely only patch it when several people report the issues. đź‘Ť

CODEMASTERS LINK

I would recommend for GYMKHANA to not play too long and reduce the settings a little particulary the "Weight"
On repeated sessions with my first go of the game I had a weird noise from the wheel but it went away.

Doing burnouts at full lock with the resistance high is probably going to be straining the mottor

I was under the impression that thread was dedicated to posting links to professional reviews and such. So I started this one to discuss everything else basically.

Yeah I lowered my FFB as well. I think my arms might still be sore from the workout I had when the FFB was 100%. Felt sooooo gooood though :dopey:

Hm, I'm getting some color tints on both my Plasma and LCD screens. So it's not just me then.

My wheel does get turned when they rewards me my reputation, etc. I think they accidently sent ffb effects to the wheel for each reward. So by the time it's over the wheel is turned to the left by the 3 jolts

Hopefully the devs peek over at these forums as well even though I would suspect most wouldn't post due to accountability. But what you just posted is the best course. I'm already registered over there too so I'll make to point them out so they can get the fixes into the patch.

So to be clear- you were able to use Flashbacks? I guess it just sounds like you were

I'm already registered at CM, so I reiterated PS3/T500RS bug.

The DS3 vibrates at the rewards screen too.

This wheel goes up a notch when used with rally . The information it gives you is superb . It makes my old Logitech wheel feel very toy like .

Just make sure you take your hands of the wheel when the race finishes though.

How are you guys doing on the Drift challenge? So far all I've hit was Bronze. Was wondering is there any special tricks I can do with this wheel to at least hit Silver.

Mr Latte posted a good tip on mapping the clutch pedal for the handbrake , Which has made drifting and gymkhana alot easier.(But i still find it hard to do and a bit of a chore )

Ah right, I had my handbrake set to the clutch. I noticed it would spin me around in a 360 and I would get points. Just noticed on the web there some tips to stick to using the handbrake for that so I'll give that a try again tonight.

how is the driving PHYSICS, could you compare it to GT5, becuase i'm thinking about gettin this game when i get my t500. and the only thing i can compare DRIFT3 is GT5 which i have.

If I were to give my honest opinion it's bloody close. I think even ISR said the same here:

I don't consider myself an expert on physics in the least though. But I find the collision response to be very similar to GT5 if I was forced to compare as well.

I am no expert also but it feels pretty close to the rally in GT5 . But it is alot more fun and the cars feel a bit more responsive and do not have over exaggerated loss of traction.

Yes exactly, it doesn't suffer from the overstated sliding understeer at slow speeds I find GT5 can have.

Also it seems 60fps to this games 30fps isn't a big loss, if anything Id take the extra graphics quality as a more satisfying element when playing.

I game for fun/entertainment and not one of these people that want to dissect every games physics based on their, so called realism.

Did anyone figure out how to get the rewind feature to work? When I do a google on the bug it leads me right back to this thread.... :indiff:

Not a huge deal, but might come in handy

When paused you can use the wheel for slow mo or altering the speed. Also using the pedals. Think you just have to pause first though.

Hm, so you're saying rewind should work then. Going to go try right fast. I never seen it actually rewind. Let me try again

AH! Thanks a ton! You meant literally turn my wheel to rewind. Works perfect đź‘Ť Just got a chance to try just now. edit- Ok pedals work as well like you said, updated the OP

Why does my T500 only have a 90degrees rotation of the wheel on each side? Is this something to do with the settings or is it a software issue?

I'd very much like to second this; You wouldn't want a full 900, never mind 1080, but half a turn isn't putting the T500RS' abilities to the best use (540 as in real rally cars would strike the right balance of challenge and accessibility). Not many PS3 games actually support it yet, so when the ones that do set rotation at 180 it is disappointing. A patch for users to personalise rotation settings would be great if it happened.

My settings on DIRT 3 - PC version:

* Inside CPL, Wheel rotation at 1080°
60457404.jpg

and all forces at Maximum:
18219462.jpg

* Inside game, configure Wheel like this:
(with no Dead-zone, Saturation at 100% & Linearity at 0%)
33414492.jpg

and ForceFeedback like this:

(with Vibration at 100%, Strength at 100% & Weight at 0%)
83092207.jpg

Result is awesome    (but Warning this setting is really not for children especially during drift: Wheel turns at incredible speed )
