After the success of our inaugural race, The Indianapolis 500, the Authentic Sim Race Association is proud to bring you the "Crown Jewel of the F1 Calendar", the historic Monaco Grand Prix! This will be a full length race (78 laps) featuring 3 rounds of knockout qualifying. We will have a week of "qualifiers" to determine the participants (top 14 plus 2 hosts) who will move on to the knockout qualifying rounds. If we get enough participants for 2 races we will hold a half-distance race for those who don't qualify in the top 14.

The Race
The Monaco Grand Prix is a Formula One race held each year on the Circuit de Monaco. Run since 1929, it is widely considered to be one of the most important and prestigious automobile races in the world, alongside the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (informally known as the Triple Crown of Motorsport). The circuit has been called "an exceptional location of glamour and prestige." The race is held on a narrow course laid out in the streets of Monaco, with many elevation changes and tight corners as well as a tunnel, making it one of the most demanding tracks in Formula One. In spite of the relatively low average speeds, it is a dangerous place to race. The first race in 1929, was organised by Anthony Noghès under the auspices of the "Automobile Club de Monaco", and was won by William Grover-Williams driving a Bugatti. The event was part of the pre-Second World War European Championship and was included in the first Formula One World Championship in 1950. It was designated the European Grand Prix two times, 1955 and 1963, when this title was an honorary designation given each year to one grand prix race in Europe. Graham Hill was known as "Mr Monaco" due to his five Monaco wins in the 1960s. Brazil's Ayrton Senna has won the race more times than any other driver, with six victories, winning five races consecutively between 1989 and 1993.

The Ferrari F2007
The Ferrari F2007 is a Formula One motor racing car, with which Ferrari competed during the 2007 Formula One season, it being the fifty-third single-seater car which the team have built to use in Formula One. The car is famous for providing Kimi Räikkönen with his first World Championship title and the team with its first Constructor's title since Michael Schumacher helped them win both in 2004. The car was unveiled to the public on January 14, 2007 at Ferrari's Fiorano test track in Maranello, Italy. The chassis was significantly altered from the 248 F1, the car Ferrari used during 2006 to finish as runners-up to Renault in the constructors' championship.

The Ferrari F10 was a Formula One motor racing car built by Ferrari to compete in the 2010 Formula One season. The F10, the 56th single-seater car produced by Ferrari to compete in Formula One, was launched in Maranello, and online, on 28 January 2010. On 20 February, Fernando Alonso declared that the F10 was the best car he had ever driven, and that its true pace was being hidden from its rivals. The F10 proved immediately more competitive than its predecessor, with Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso picking up 2nd and 3rd respectively in qualifying at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso won the race with Felipe Massa finishing second.

LIVE BROADCAST!
For the Indy 500 I experimented with doing a live video broadcast of the race through Justin TV and it seemed to work out pretty well. For the next race I would love to have a couple other volunteers do the same thing so we can offer multiple views. All that's needed is a webcam (I used the one built into my netbook) pointed at your tv and a Justin TV account (free, easy registration).

This race is still in the development stage and will probably take place sometime in the middle of June. We are still sorting out the specs on the 2 F1 cars but on this track they seem to be very competitive with each other in their stock forms. We are also still sorting the details on how to handle knockout qualifying, but we will do qualifiers during the week like we did for the Indy 500 to determine who makes it to knockout qualifying for the Grand Prix.
We are going to be using different compounds of tires for the race like they do in F1 in real life. We will start the race with the tire restriction set to "Race Hard" and once everyone has entered the track the host will change the restriction to "Race Soft", so at the first pit stop the soft compound will be available. This should add an interesting and "authentic" element to the race!
There will be many practice and testing sessions leading up to the race as many of us are new to these cars and/or still need to break them in. Details for any practice sessions will be posted in this thread. As details and specifics for the race are decided this OP will be updated accordingly. As with the Indy 500, all practice rooms will be hosted by myself (StigsHero/BrandonW77) or Jeff Owens (OwensRacing/OwensRacing).
Registration:
All interested drivers will add their name to the Registration List. We are accepting more than 16 drivers, during Qualifying Week we will set up times for Hot Lap rooms to be opened so everybody can get a chance to turn in their times. At the end of qualifying week the top 13 drivers will move on to knockout qualifying for the Monaca Grand Prix. Drivers who don't qualify for the main race can take part in a half-distance race the day before the Grand Prix. When registering please use the following format: GTP Username (PSN name): Car (you can change cars after registering if desired).
