As some of you may know I recently had a holiday in Jamaica with my girlfriend which presented me with plenty of great photo opps. These are what I feel came out best. Bare in mine while viewing these that I had no tripod, and I was shooting out the window of a bus or from the back of a Land Cruiser for 99% of the images! I think they came out really well though, I'm especially pleased with the images of the Rastas from Nine Mile. Let me know what you think.

Very nice photos! I love #5 especially, mainly because of the vibrant colours.
Is the rest of Jamaica that colourful?
Also I like #8 for the kind of old look it appears to have. The guy looks like a bit of a legend as well!

Good job, all top quality pics. 👍

Nice pics:tup:

I went to Jamaica in '04, would love to go their again now that I can actually do things on my own(Not to mention the beach was closed 6/7 days due to weather).

Some of those shots have that older look to them, and I'm not sure if it is the lens or the processing. Regardless, I quite like the look and it fits.

Those are awesome photos! good Job. Im trying to get into photography.

Thanks! If you want to get into it, just go out and shoot photos anywhere you can. It's good fun if you just get out and about and stay active with it.

Jamaica is a very colourful country in general. The grass and forests are bright green, the sky is blue and all of the houses and shops/stalls are painted in bright colours. The tour guide was a bit of a legend, he said he didn't smoke any more but from the way he was acting I'd say he was lying

Thanks Justin! We had 3 out of the 7 days that rained pretty badly but it didn't stop us from doing much. We cancelled one trip due to being tired and fed up of being wet but it worked out better in the end as we needed the time to recharge! I'd definitely like to go back but not during the rainy season again!

Just amazing, love these photo's moglet.

That bird is so cool! :)

Thanks, I'm glad you liked them!

I really love this shot, not sure why but I love it. Excellent set though as expected from you Mog. 👍

I was very pleased with that one too, and I can't figure out why either. Thanks for visiting :)

Mog, did your girlfriend want to go, or Jamaica?

:sly:

Oh god....

Wow, Lloyd. Wow.

👍

I'm glad you liked them Danny! I'll be doing a full trip report and including the snapshot photos soon. 👍

It'll be the processing, I only have very basic lenses to work with! I tried to avoid over processing this set as Jamaica is naturally interesting and photogenic IMO. It was nice to stay away from the filters and editing boxes!

Your thread titled just reminded me of how Tintin Adventure books were named... Then I was expecting some fantastic adventurous photos into the wild, where you find treasure and fight off pirates!

In any case, I like birds so therefore I like your photo of the parrot 👍

I jsut bought be a beginner Nikon Coolpix L120 for $305. I need to get my computer redone and pay for photoshop. What are some tips for images. such as Iso ans stuff?

Brilliant set of photos you have there. Great to see the real side of Jamaica rather than the usual postcard shots. Being a huge reggae lover I would love to go there someday and soak up some of the culture that spawned the genre. Did you spend much time in Kingston?

These are the outstanding photos for me...

My favourite shot is number 20!

Thanks! 👍

The adventure thread is coming soon :P

There is too much for me to tell, unfortunately! It's a very complicated world out there, and ISO is just a teeny little bit of it. I tend to keep mine at as low a number as possible if the light allows for it.

If you love reggae, you'd love it there! It's quite literally the only music you will hear while you're there! We didn't visit Kingston as we were staying just outside Lucea, and it took 3 hours or so just to get to Ocho Rios so I dread to think how long Kingston would have taken!

Thanks for your feedback, those style of shots are exactly what I was trying to avoid, there are already hundreds of postcard shots of Jamaica out there and I wanted to be a little different.

Speaking of photos, my website is now live too! http://www.wix.com/lloydmorgan/lloydmorgan I'm eventually going to be getting my own domain (I need a good name), unlimited bandwidth and some Google and Facebook ads (hopefully!) 👍

I'm a wee bit late to the party, but a lot of amazing pics here!

My favorites are the people shots (especially 7, 8 and 12) and the moving shots on 14, 17 and 20.

I'm also liking the retro tones in some of the images, 17 and 30 in particular 👍

Nice work! Threads like this make me want to pick up a real camera instead of just a controller. ;)

I like the ones that Rue likes, and all of them that feature people. Those guys are all characters that are worthy of a photoshoot one by one.

Bivrant colors, too, and nice compositions on the anchitecture shots. The white thing with water and pilars and more water... a hotel?

looks like a perfect vacation!:)👍
The pictures look gorgeous, also the landscape and everythin else. Perfect work mog:tup:

And now, get back to the GT5 comps:P:lol:

Wow, beautiful photography, absolutely stunning 👍

Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback c_f. I was having a break from GT5 photography so figured I might as well do some real stuff instead. ;)

Very nice set Moglet! I think you managed to capture pretty well this country's mood.

Thanks Dolp, that is exactly what I was aiming to do. Jamaica is considered a tropical paradise by people who have seen tourist photos, but the reality is that it's a very poor country in a lot of areas. Tourism is their main income and I wanted to get away from the usual tourist crap and focus on the real Jamaica.

Awesome pics! Love pic number 5. Awesome colors!

Thanks for visiting!

I wish I could have had a shoot with each of them individually! They really are as interesting as the photos make them out to be, too.

And yes, the white thing with pillars and water is our hotel. That was one of the pools, the main one with the swim up bar! To the left of that shot is where we sat for breakfast in the bright sunshine! :)

looks like a perfect vacation!:)👍

 I'm getting there, I promise! Thanks for your feedback.

Beautiful pictures there Mog, makes me wanna go soon!

It's a wonderful place, the people are very friendly and everything is so relaxed! I wish it were more like that over here sometimes.
