I need emergency help with fiat 500 seasonal event

Ok, let me tell you whats happening...

I got my 🤬 bastard fiat 500 from the dealership, tuned it like i always do with new cars i get. Top performance, minimum weight, all expencive parts etc.
Guess what?
Those parts was no need and gives me consequenses with entering the race.
What i did was to try to dismount some parts and add some extra weight, there afther entered the race...
This car is a soo god damn bastard car. I cant even pull my left stick all the way to right or left else it will cause the car to lose speed. The worse is that i have never ever experienced a race like this, where im allways get stuck on 4th place.
Today I did some research about how to win this race, maybe someone had a tip or a glitch.
What i understund from the research was that i needed to change my suspension settings...
Someone says dit and dat and an other says dat and dit, noone gives the same information.
I TRIED ALL THE SETTINGS PEOPLE WERE SHARING, but no luck cant get lower lap times than 2.08.xxx.
Recently I readed from a website, dont remember the name, the man who gave this info were the administrator of the forum site. Hi says that he dont installed any of the performance parts that increased the power, only transmission and other parts like the clutch plates etc. Changed the oil and tata thats all, btw the new oil increased the bhp so he just took the bhp little down.
I held over to the dealership and bought a new fiat 500, but this time i done exact the same upgrades and those suspension settings,
NO LUCK ! ! !
But a bit better lap time than the other settings i had with top tuned 500, 2.08.xxx instead of 2.10.xxx ( 2 sec earlier )
I think today i have driven the race for over 50 times ( almost 13 hours of racing)

There is many vids out there in youtube, but what i dont understand is; how the hell can they drive the f..king same car under a lap time of 2.05.xxx and take those corners aproximately 10 km/h more than me?
People says that they just raced the race one or two time and there it goes, he gets the gol but how, how please help me!!!!

Which oppgrades should i have and which susppension settings do i need?
Should i use the controller or my driving force gt?
How to get best result from the corners (when i need to brake or do i need to brake at all)?
Afther driving the red bull x2010 i lost all my normal car skills:guilty:

Please help me out before i m taking suicade (just kidding, but i m soo frikin tired of placing 4th in the race all the day)

Thanks for the tip man, will try it tomorrow bcoz the clock is 01.27 here in norway,
Pls guys dont forget to post your tips, all tip will be usefull, thanks

It's an expert race, you need to have driven many of hours of GT driving (with gains in performance and skill) to get first. When you have the experience you know what needs doing. So the advice is complete the game then do the expert seasonal.
If you have the experience it might be you have reached the limit of controller input. A steering wheel might be a good move.

I used Redlines tune Here!

This was my car setup. Install EVERYTHING. Then I restricted it like crazy. Think it was the full 200KG that got added again lol.

I past the last Audi just before the corner before the final chicane with a big smile and victorious shout. Shame I won another NASCAR with the ticket though lol

EDIT: Forgot to mention, lap times are about 2:04/5.
If you have bought a brand new one, after each race (if you dont win) you'll find you need to lower the power restrictor more and more by one click. You can get away with it sitting on 66BHP (lower it one from 67 and you will!)

EDIT EDIT: Backing up what Raver said, only thing assist wise should be, if needed, ABS to 1. There are very few corners you will need to brake for, riding the momentium is key to winning this one!

Sure i try those new tune types you guys refere me 2, but tomorrow. Need to rest you know... Btw are lvl 34 almost 35 a spec, b spec around 26, played gt since 2005 and have many experiences but not exactly suspension, but i m for example good to tune a cars gearbox/transmission to make it to boost in race like a wind, but this race requries suspension skills that i dont have.
Any tip about which corner or chicane ( or how do you spell it, i m not pro english speller :( ) do i need to dont breake at all?

Ok I'l try and run through how I went.

1st corner or the "s" can be taken flat out. Keep it flat out up the hill and take a slightly wider entry into the tunnel. ONLY LIFT OFF and back onto the power

You will need to brake turning right beside the rocks, after that you are flat out until after going over the hill (where the jump used to be)

Brake and take a wide line again, you need to drop to about 65MPH / 104KPH. Then flat out to the next right hander. You need to slow for this one, hitting the rocks is so unforgiving and you really will ruin a chance of victory hitting them hard.

Down the steep hill and brake again going left, then back to the start again.

Final tip, as tempting as it is, dont cut any of the track. It just isn't worth th ebrush off of speed

Good lucky man :D

I would say if you have the experience to get 60 gold license test to be expert then you don't really need to think about suspension, just need to buy the car from dealer and drive it as standard to win.
I do use a steering wheel that's why I say it might be something to get rather than worry about suspension settings.

I don't know if those setting above have said it already.

But if you can do the maximum weight reductions and then use ballast to bring you up to required weight. AND place the required ballast in the rear position, to help bring some sort of balance to the car.

Thnx for those tip guys, will try them within a hour or two, have a task to do. Btw i have 40 gold and 20 silver licanse medals, all those races won afther 1/2 try

Edit:
Forgot to say; special thanks goes to tommy, tommy you are the man!

The expert seasonal, save the Subaru challenge, isn't as much about tuning than driving skill.

Hint 1: Remember it's about you, not the tune.
Hint 2: Take a very close look at your corner entry and exit speeds. The difference of exiting a corner at 101 rather than 96 km/h is the difference between success and failure.
Hint 3: Try different lines and don't stick to the dark areas too much as reference.
Hint 4: Try to lose no time with overtaking the AI. If you do, your line is not optimal or you have lost too much time already. You can overtake all cars save the Audi without loosing any time at all or compromising your racing line. The challenge is designed that way.
Hint 5: Don't let your tyres squeal. Don't go too fast into a corner and think "the excess speed looses itself." It doesn't.

But basically stick to Hint 2 and optimize (and memorize) your entry and exit speeds and avoid being caught to overtake an AI car so it costs you any time.

The Fiat really does respond to tuning. Moving as much weight off the nose as possible and stiffening up the rear suspension will make the car rotate tons better. Just those 2 changes and no other tuning to the car cut almost 2 seconds a lap off my times. I ran it back to back, stock tuning and weight/suspension. No power tuning except the limiter to reduce 1 hp. No transmission tuning. Both were very clean runs. Stock I lost by 4 seconds. With tuning I won by 3 seconds.

Which is not to say the car drives itself. You still must know the track and drive reasonably well.

I agree with s2k. I found in the fiat the factory gearbox worked better for the powerband especially up hill. I did a bit of suspension tuning but mainly trying to keep a clean line is key.

I did it with a sports suspension, but as can been seen here it's also doable in stock form. I tried it a couple of times, but the motivation was gone so I abandoned the effort. However, looking at my replay, I saw a lot of missed apexes and opportunities.

I felt a bit of tuning helped compensate for my shortcomings, like a very heavy finger when playing with the DS3 rather than the G25.

However, I personally don't like to fiddle with the cars too much, like lightening the Fiat and then putting back weight at my convenience. I feel like this goes against the spirit of the (expert) challenges.

Especially those +25/-25 ride height adjustments are simply a physics engine hack - nothing more.

Anyway, much of the advice always goes in the tuning direction while I feel some very basic driving and racing techniques both help beat the challenge and improve overall driving skill. So I added my advice, which is generic but also generally true for all challenges, license tests and special events.

Just because something is "doable" does not make it doable by all. There are some people (myself probably included in this group) that simply won't get this race in stock form.

I have great respect for those who do it in stock form. Not so much respect for those who try to dictate to others how they can do it...

The "spirit" of the challenge is a relative thing. To make allowable tuning changes to the car may offend your spirit but my spirit is fine with it.

If PD wanted the race done in totally stock form they could have made that the rules.

When somebody comes here and says "Help, I can't get this no matter how hard I try!", it certainly isn't helpful to tell them to "just drive better".

Doing this race with stock tuning: 👍
Chiding those who can't: 👎

Gosh, why are people always offended?

Seriously, once one is aware that the challenges are doable in stock form, it should encourage to work on the driving technique rather than hunt for yet another tune. This only leads to frustration.

But this is next to impossible if no-one ever bothers to mention what to look out for, and how the GT challenges are always set up: pass a certain car at a certain point. If you don't, restart and don't bother wasting your time. Memorize your entry and exit speeds and try to optimize them: is a bit slower in faster out? Is a wider line faster than a tight one?

The Fiat challenge reminded me how to read a track properly, the Lotus that I loathe these cars and I'm rubbish with them, and the Subaru that hotlapping LAguna Seca in FM2 was good for something at last.

Have to admit I've completely given up on the Fiat event (thus far)...not a quitter, but this event seems simply impossible.

Guys i forgot to write to you that i won the event!!! The trick was just to turn off the traction controll (i did not see it untill recently wanted to turn the abs to 1)
Cheeers!!!
But the saddest news is that i got an other nascar from its ticket

just ugrade engine and use power limiter. u will get higher torque. reduce top speed with fully adj gearbox. simple as that.

Why then, do you think, has PD added the tuning feature to the game?

What I really think is that it's a shame the vast majority of the community seems to be more bothered by grinding, glitching and taking shortcuts rather than actually picking up a few things while playing the game and that there's so little discussion of driving techniques but so much talk of tuning setups.

It's not only a loss for each individual player, because he will never know what he is missing out in terms of game depth, but also a loss for the GTP community.

Other than that, tuning in GT5 is very limited compared to other games, and I do believe this was done intentionally. There's nothing wrong with tuning, but changing the powerband or weight distribution characteristics is just taking shortcuts in my book and has nothing to do with 'classic' tuning and setup.

While I do usually want to blow things away and get them done ASAP, the Subaru and Fiat 500 challenges where 2 difficult challenges that required a car setup rather than driver skill and they where very enjoyable being like .7 of a second shy of the lead A1 and seeing the lead Skyline pass the final hairpin before you get there.

Having lapped Im sure into about a thousand laps on Trial Mountain since the first game and having done easily a few thousand in Laguna on many games I confidently know how these two tracks go. But setting up a car to do damage.... not my personna sadly.

had to check out this thread, if only to find out what constitutes a need for "emergency" help with a GT5 race. i thought maybe the guy's family was being held at gunpoint or something, and he could only get them back if he won the race. turns out he's just frustrated. oh well.

I have only 1 tip to share.

Brake before committing to any turns (that require braking) and accelerate through and out of the turn.

If you adopt this approach you will find you're able to take a good 6 - 10 seconds off your final time. This event really is all about driving composure and accuracy. No matter how well you pimp and / or tune your Fiat 500 to fit within the specs, it won't go fast enough unless you are good.

I won a Ferrari P4 (CR 20,000,000) out of this so I am quite chuffed.

That's actually some good advice. I was stuck on this event for a while using what I'd have to call my default style of trying to trail brake deep into the corners. It was only when I wanted to get an accurate figure of what speeds I could hold around all of the various corners, I adopted a style like you said above.

In an effort to get a speed worked out for each corner, I would approach the corner, do all of my braking in the straight ( bear in mind it is only a brief moment of braking ) then hold a constant speed as I turn in and through the corner and get back on the throttle at the apex. Driving like this, I got a big improvement in lap times.

I think that the trail braking I was doing earlier, was causing too much variation, in some corners too much braking, so a slow corner, then in other corners too little which meant further braking required and a messy cornering 'arc'.

Add me on PSN (bigburt82) and try my setup. Best of luck!
