Well, at least we all know now, music is truely in Pako's blood.

Sorry, cheese is my middle name sometimes. ;)

I don't think I could ever do that with my trumpet... I have busted a lip, wonder if that counts?

I play the guitar, primarily with my fingers (never been able to hold on to a pick for a whole session).
I've been sore, had tender finger tips on my fretting hand.
Have never bled for my art.

Got any recorded samples you'd like to share? I'd still like to do a collaborative, digital session and complile a song with people from accross the world using the internet as a studio medium.

Interested?

Hmm, sounds interesting. Have any need for a piano? My only concern is that I don't know how to record things cleanly. I wish I did, then I could produce my own Piano cd's, but I just don't have the sound equipment to record well enough to make it CD quality. Does anybody know how to do this if the instrument does not plug into an amplifyer?

Oh, and if you wanted to send the music parts back and forth over the internet, would you use .wav files? That's the only real way I can see anything sounding good, maybe at what was the bitrate, 1550? Anywho, it would be sweet to do something like that.

Check this out:

It's an offical thread,

Do you need a "rhythm banger"? I also do a lot of little sweet finger picking stuff. It isn't nearly as bluesy as I'd like, but it makes the wife melt.:D

Gil,
Yeah sure!!! ;)

Giancarlo,
Very good observation. :D Actually I haven't really figured out how to use a pick yet. ;)

Frustrated Palm,
You betchya!

Pako, you must remember I have six kids with this woman. Before I learned to play!
Actually, I love the blues, I'm still on the easy stuff. But I can pick my way thru some of the country stuff. "The Thunder Rolls" and a great deal of Hal Ketchum's stuff.
I don't record...yet. I am starting to look at some simple recording gear, as my writing is starting to bloom a bit.

hey pako I know this is off topic but can you please edit my avatar to have the same scene but without the crobra king thing? here is the origninal THANKS!

Jeez, Pako - I remember the very first avatar you made me - with the chick and the GTPlanet background - and you did exactly the same thing as above - you PMed me about 20 copies of the avatar. Any reason why you do that?

skylineGTR_guy,

Sure thing... :)

SandStorm,
I guess it's all about being able to express my self beyond the 35k avatar size limit, or it could have to do with some kind of insect vision fetish. :D

ooooo an insect vision fetish thats a new one.... Insect vison hasn't happend to me since I almost knocked my self out trying to do a backflip :boggled:

Haha. Hey, Pako, how'd you manage to do that with your finger? You dont strum with the top of your fingers, do you?

He whacks/slaps it. Bass players do it the most. I don't know why they do it, but I do know the type of sound it makes, I can't describe it though.

That is wrong on so many levels.... first he :odd: "whacks/slaps it" then "bass players do it the most" to make it even worse "I don't know why they do it...but I know the sound it makes" :yuck: to finish it all off "I can't describe it though":odd: see what happens when you jump in the middle of a conversation...you get the wrong ideas

:embarrassed: I'm just givin Cobraboy a hard time :embarrassed:

, no not quite. It is a result of a couple of things:

1.) Rotosound Strings. These strings are "sharp" and cause major damage to frets (and fingers), but they have great tone and they don't brake on me.

2.) I was doing a "slap" style of playing that cobraboy was pointing out. This technique involves slapping the string with the side of your thumb for the downward attack, while plucking the string with your other fingers for the upward attack. It is during this upward attack that the top of finger rubs agianst the top of the highest string that I'm going to pull up on.

The sound can be described as a popping sound. You can hear this technique being used in Funk, R&B, as well as Rock and Alternative. The common recent artists that use this technique would be Les Claypool, Flea, Victor Wooten, and many more....

If the strings were spread further apart, or if I could adjust my technique, and/or change to different strings...this probably wouldn't happen.

Hope that clarifies things for ya.

I can honestly sas I've never heard of one of those songs...

Les Claypool - Primus
Flea - Red Hot Chille Peppers
Victor Wooten - Bella Fleck and the Fleck Tones

Victor Wooten Kicks Ass!! I understand you all the way Pako.. Sooner or later you'll get the skin really hard on the fingers from playing. Just keep with the music and follow your dreams.
