Um……this has been done before, and that one hasn't failed at all…I know that yours is slightly different, having read through the rules, but you might want to change the thread name as it'll cause confusion.

Comment's: The Silvia goes really nicely, but has sudden snap oversteer if you cross the line. I feel 1.28 is a decent time, but there is a lot more time available on Autumn ring.

Comments: I chose the City for one reason- it had incredibly high PP for its incredibly low price. However, as it turns out, regardless of the money i pumped into it, the City lacked power. It was understeery, slugish and suffered from "smoking front tyre syndrome". I can see this time bieng easily demolished by the first person who tries, but it's an intersting lesson: If a car seems too good to be true, it's probablly a peice of 🤬

Comments: What a wierd sounding V8 and an odd looking American sports car  Other then that, this thing is quiet a beast, stable and fast, yet controllable and fun. As for the time, i feel it's quiet good and beating it may be a challenge.

Just had a quick go at one this is what i got

I like this and will be giving it a shot...probably not real competitive but I'll have fun.:D
Do think it might be a good idea to move this to the tuning forum and encourage people to post tunes for their cars.

Thought I'd found a possible winner for the 40,000cr category with a skyline GT-R LM Limited (R33)...cost of car 38,918 add oil change, sports air filter and sports catalytic converter and it was running 333HP. Unfortunately I forgot to check for Aero...has 3-8 points of adjustable rear Aero...DOH!:banghead:

That's a bad bit of luck mate, what a waste of 40K! Feel free to give it another shot though, who knows you could find something even better :)

Money wasn't wasted I'll give it a full tune at some point.:)
Been trying a variety of cars so far an impreza WRX STi version IV is the closest I've come to being competitive at 30k and 40k. My poor driving is the main reason I couldn't get a competitive time. I'm about 4 seconds off at 30k and 6 seconds at 40k. Car really needs a MT instead of the automatic I drive with.
Meanwhile I'll keep trying.:D

I'll try and participate!

I love budget cars shootouts, but unfortunately i dont have the time to be in online races when I want to.

Since this is time trails, i'll try and give it a go later today!

Here's my time for Challenge 3, there's probably another second or 2 in there from my driving and maybe half a second if I fully break in the car.

Challenge: 3

PSNid: sngd
Car: Integra Type R (DC2) '99
PP: 440

$5000: Weight Reduction Stage 1
$3000: Suspension Sports kit
Total cost: $49330.

A classic club racer car, bought mine with over 60.000 Km in it. Its engine is a bit tired and its chassis is visibly carring the weight of the previous owner, but still able to post a respectfull time. It is still lacking its paint in championship white, but that will soon change!

I reckon that with more than 3 laps it will be able to set a time in the low 1.10.xxx!

On a side note: this challenge should be limited to sports tires (as race tires is not exactly budget, but going in without race tires in eiger is.. well.. conceding on a loss)

One question: we may post more than one time or not?

Will post times for the other challenges when I have time, maybe tomorrow or the day after!

Regards!

For this week i'll keep it as is, but you raise a good point. I'm sure however some people will argue that the 15k worth of racing hards could better be spent elsewhere. It all comes down to how people budget and how they tune.

One question: we may post more than one time or not?
I'd say you should only post one time for each challenge, to stop people filling the boards by themself. But, theres nothing stopping you from trying some different cars before you submit a time

Will post times for the other challenges when I have time, maybe tomorrow or the day after!

I look forwad to it 👍 :)

Comments: The lancer turned out to be a brilliant choice. Fast, stable and easily controllable. It did however have a couple of issues, 4wd induced understeer bieng the main one, and a 5 speed gearbox bieng the other. Overall however, this was a very good car for he job and While this wasn't a particuarly fast lap, it was squeaky clean which on the 'ring can be just as challenging.
EDIT: Just realized i had 5k left to spend. I may be redoing this time.

Comments: This car is quiet good actually, it has nice acceleration and good balance. However- It thinks its a drift car and my fine tuning couldn't fix that. I guarantee however, this challenge will show who the best tuner's really are

Hi i've just been testing a car around the ring for challenge 6 & managed to get it down to a 7:49.xxx but i'm sure there is more time in it so I will wait to post a time but I was just looking at the cars you used & I realised the lancer you used actually breaks one of the rules because it has adjustable aero stock just thought you might like to know before you spend the extra 5 grand on it
