Remixes have been going through out music since artists have had different ideas. Creating new and radical different songs based off just another artists work. So what would happen if you brought remixes to a photo community ?

RE:MIX is a experiment that I came up with based off of the Edit my photo thread, and SMfan's current gallery. Since SMfan's PS3 died, various members have been sending him shots for him to edit and keep his gallery alive, so what would happen on a larger scale ?

What RE:MIX essentially is, is photographers offering up their stock sets to be edited, Remixed by other photographers. Here's how it works exactly.
  1. Photographer A produces a new photo set
  2. Photographer A puts his set to be Remixed
  3. Photographer B PM's Photographer A about remxing their set
  4. Photographer A chooses or denies access to Photographer B
  5. Photographer A puts together a Zipped or RAR file contaning all the shots from that set, wether they made the final cut or not, along with his signature
  6. Photographer B edits Photographer A's set, adding their own editing style to the pictures
  7. Photographer B also adds Photographer A's signature and his own signature, giving both Photographers credit.
  8. When Photographer B uploads the Remixed Set to his gallery, he must name it xxxxx (Photographer B Remix) [eg. Six Speed Drift (slzk remix)]

You can offer up your set to be Remixed with either a public link to your folder, or a Private contact and send the links through PM.

Introducing Re:Mix LVL2.

What is it ? Well it's still the same principle, but with more freedom. A Photographer posts up their idea based off a recent picture of theirs, which is a Car + Location (eg. Aventador @ Nurburgring) Now, it can be as vague as that, or even A Lamborghini at a German track, or on the other hand, you can get down to specifics, Like Java Green Aventador @ Nurburgring, at Sunset at the Karrussel. If it does get very specific, please put a car, or a custom track up on share, and please mention it here too that it is up for share. While this Level may not catch on as much, you can bet it'll get used later in something I'm making up. If you have a Lvl2 remix to post, please PM me with one shot so i can use it as the preview square.

I think it's a great idea, this. It's a nice and fun way to learn.
It should be interesting to see what photos that may be able to come out of each REMIX, with editing and phototaking styles of each photographer being, vastly different. (is it?) :lol:
 
I couldn't just link to an ImageShack album instead of a .rar or .zip file, for people to download from..?

I just watched the new TopGear episode where they had a H2H between the new Maserati GranTurismo MC vs. the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series.
And I would like to do that with someone. ;)

Photographer A: Take the Maserati Gran Turismo in black and shoot it on the TopGear Test Track

Photographer B: Take the Mercedes AMG in orange with a spoiler and also shoot it on the TopGear Test Track.


Who's in? I'll take the Maserati! :sly:
 
I have sent my shots to Gtuned, now awaiting his package. :sly:
It's nice to see people take up this idea/project. Hopefully it'll produce results! :D

It would be cool to see what people can come up with, based on the same picture.
I think it would also be cool to have a gallery or album somewhere, where we would be able to see the same shot, edited by different people.
For example: shot #1 edited by Mr A, alongside shot #1 edited by Mr B, then by Mr C, etc etc...

What I'm saying is it would be nice to go from one pic to the other in a simple/efficient way :)

A post per image would be sweet. Each newly edited pic would go in the right post, alongside other versions of the same pic.

Might be a bit difficult to organize though... :/
 
I don't even care enough to have to be asked. If someone edits my unedited shots, I just hope they have the decency to give me credit for the original photo and possibly to even tell me they edited it.

Some people aren't good at photo taking, but are good at editing, and I respect that.

OP Has been updated with mine and slzk's remixed sets, also added a section if anyone else adds a set to be remixed.
 
That's a great idea. I'll get a set available for remixing.
It'll be in a couple of days though as I'm a bit busy at the moment.

And I thought I'd share a small "set", and due to me having some issues compressing this into a single file package, I have just put it on here via ImageShack. (Will probably edit this after I get 7-zip to work.)

This is a set I shot for the CCCL a while back, and forgot to enter.

So yeah, it's a vent and a door at the 'Ring.

Anything I upload after today is openly available for taking and editing. I would actually appreciate taking photos and editing them.

My 30-day free trial of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.6 is ending today and I won't have the money to purchase a complete copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.6 until about a week from now (also I won't have time to purchase it all week).

All of my photos are still open to be taken and edited, but, until I get my own copy of Lightroom, I won't have as many photos to upload, because some specifically need Lightroom to work, like my shot named "Back In Black" that is posted in my Photo Gallery.

I don't do photoshoots really, so my single photos are all I have to provide.

Yeah, I might be able to. How did plan to do it, I don't quite understand. We just take of one car each?
