Drifting with a Front Wheel Drive car is done by using the eBrake to slide the rears and the power to point and move the car. Often referred to as "ass dragging"
RWD started to practice and is considered the purest by many and a relic by some. Front wheels steer, rear wheels slide through power.
AWD drifting is known to be the easiest since the front wheels can be used to control the position and heading to great effect. Some don't consider it to be drifting.
I remember seeing people in fwd at mod shows and car meets attempting to drift
What they did was drive their back wheels onto tea-trays, apply the handbrake (e-brake) and drive round without the rear tyres being in contact with with road surface
Looked quite funny
I mean the only reason i would practice it is for the props you get because it's such a hard thing to do. But i would never do it for fun, not that i have done it or even tried it but drifting with a RWD car is a lot of fun. Trying to drift a FWD car just looks unbearably boring and annoying. But i might try it if i come across an FWD car to prove myself right or wrong... hopefully right.
The rules of D1gp allowed FWD or RWD but not 4WD. I can drift FWD better than some can do in a RWD. But RWD is really the only true drifting in my opinion and 99.999% of drift cars you see are RWD.
