Mixed Class Racing Rules:

Thanks to WRS for this

SUBARU Class Rules:

Be Patient: Your job is to get around the HONDA class responsibly. Do not dive bomb a HONDA class car under braking putting them in jeopardy if you make a mistake. Understand where you car holds the advantage and utilize those areas to execute passes safely.
Have good situation awareness. If HONDA class drivers you are approaching are engaged in close battles don't expect them to stop their battle and let you go by. You may have to slow and pick your passing lines carefully. You may lose a gap you've built over a competing SUBARU driver, but that's the nature of multi-class racing. Everyone has a right to the road and everyone is going to get stuck behind a slower car at some point in the race.

HONDA Class Rules:

Be predictable. Pick your line and and hold it. Don't suddenly change your line thinking it will allow faster cars to pass. You will just surprise them and mess up any plan they've already made to get around you. If you are taking a corner on the inside hold that line on exit and allow the SUBARU car to pass on the outside. If you are on an outside line in a corner, maintain that line on exit.
Have good situation awareness. Understand which cars and how many are around you. Is there one SUBARU class car attempting to pass or a pack of them. Where do the SUBARU cars have a big advantage over you (straight, under braking, mid corner).
Do not block: HONDA drivers do not have to move aside for an approaching SUBARU car, but they are not allowed to "block" or interfere with an SUBARU car trying to pass.

Race End:

Thanks to WRS for this

picture.php

At 3 Hours (3:00:00.000 on the race clock) the race is going to end.
The first time the overall race leader (from the SUBARU class) passes the finish line after 3 hours the checkered flag is waved and the leader's race is over. I.e. the first lap completed after 3 hours completes the leaders race. After passing the start/finish line the leader should immediately slow to 60mph/100kmh and announce the checkered flag (press start, go to chat and type "Checkered Flag"). No car should pass him at any time going forward.
Any close finishes at the line will be reviewed with replay for the official results. Note: if in doubt, finish your lap and the results will be reviewed.
After the checkered flag is announced all drivers should complete their current lap and their race is finished when they next pass the finish line.
They should line up behind the train of cars that have already finished moving at 60mph/100kmh.
When the last car passes the start/finish line we will announce race end, record the results and then allow everyone to exit track and save the replay.
If you are in the pits beyond the start/finish line when the leader takes the checkered flag you can complete your lap only if you can exit pit road before the leader passes the pit exit.
You cannot pass the leader on the parade lap.

Racing rules and treatment of race incidents:

We apply the general OLR-rules that you can find here.
To put it simply: behave in the races as if you were in a real world car race.
Car contact incidents are part of racing and will always happen. Nobody is perfect.
Everybody makes involuntary driving errors. The important thing is to stay fair.

Here is the procedure to follow in case of an important incident:

- In case of an incident, always first look at the replay
- If after seeing the replay, you still think another driver has disadvantaged you, first contact him by PM.
- If that does not permit to resolve the incident, send a PM to the race steward (host).
- Steward will review the replay and if necessary take a race-decision.
- Never accuse another driver publicly, it is forbidden by WSCC and GTP-policy and can lead to definitive exclusion.

REMEMBER TO CLEAR THE ONLINE CACHE EACH TIME YOU PLAY THE GAME

In order to have GT5 working flawlessly on-line besides clear your cache from the in-game options/network menu it's better to open,
for the PS3 IP, the following ports on your firewall (from GT5 manual inside the game):

TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 5223
UDP 3478
UDP 3479
UDP 3658
UDP 5658

and also, if it's possible in your router, to put the PS3 IP in the DMZ function.
This two operations will make possible to have less lag and room connection problems.

This is an interesting web site to help you operate your router to open the correct ports

Sign me up please, gprili. I missed out on the Nurburgring 500k Enduro because of multiple disconnects, so thanks for another Ring race! I hope I can connect this time.

I'll do some testing and let you know what car/#/colour soon. I love the Subaru but I might be leaning more towards the CR-Z TC...

Sign me up
ADR_BRONCO(Dragonwar233), I'll use a Subaru #69 (my favorite number). Not sure about the color I'm not on the game atm. I hope to actually practice for this one.

I'm in. Subaru, No.24. However it should be a challenge getting used to such understeer (in either car) since tuning is banned. May have to run a harder compound tyre at the rear...!

sign up updated 👍

the race is going to last around 22 laps for the SUBARU class... the limit is going to be the 3 hours mark... please read carefully the rules!!!

the HONDA class is going to be lapped around 3 o 4 times :)

Ok, I'll jump in the Honda CR-Z TC
Colour: Vivid Blue Pearl
#: 55
Thanks Gprili!

Edit: sorry G, changed colour^!

Tested the Subaru. With SS at the front and SM at the rear, with a rear-bias brake balance, it's actually pretty good, incredibly stable; but of course you'd need to be well accustomed to a slightly understeering style. I did a 8:31.0xx on my second free run lap, but only managed 3 laps in total before reaching the 1/3rd point on the front tyres (the point I usually like to pit).

Question GP: In the race, the first two drivers come to the end. The leading driver passes the start finish line seconds before the 3 hour mark. The second driver passes the line second AFTER the 3 hour mark. What is the procedure? Does the leading driver bother to complete the lap, or do they slow down and announce the race end, as the winner? Does the second driver then slow down, as a finisher? Also, if the leader beats the 3 hour mark, and they do go on to complete the lap, what happens if the second place driver fails to slow down, but chases down the leader and beats him?

In this case the leading driver and everyone else must complete another lap 👍
Reasonably and depending on the gap between first and second driver, the leading driver can slow down to hit the 3 hours mark before passing the finishing line ;)

If the leading driver passes the finishing line after the 3 hour mark and announce the checkered flag, everyone else must slow down at the end of this lap. If two drivers are in a battle they have to stop it after the finishing line and slow down. If someone passes the leader after the end in a rush of speed he must give him back his position.

Honda class for me please Gippone. (No point in wasting a Subaru on me : )

MorphicJim/MorphicJim/no.77/British Racing Green

ps. two speeds....great idea.

Gotcha, so it's entirely up to the leader to announce the end.

Yes it is. The leader must be aware of warning the rest of the pack once he passes the finishing line after 3 hours mark.

Welcome MorphicJim!

Thanks Gippone.
Seems the FF Honda can be driven much more aggressively than the FR Silvia, as it's much more forgiving of being too early on the gas and excessive steering input. Will be trying to get a bit closer to the action this time! .....and no need for headlights....

It's pretty quiet lately, isn't it...

If we only get 6 drivers (minimum for me), and only 2 pick the Subaru, if it's permitted I'd like to change to the Honda...more action to be had that way...

I'll take a spot in the CR-Z. I wonder how my first race with a wheel will do.

Car: Honda CR-Z
Number: 27
Color: It's original DLC color. (Doesn't give a name)

I'd really like to sign up to this, but as it's a Saturday night I'm not sure if I'll have my 3yr old son that night. So can you sign me up 'provisionally' and I'll find out in the next day or two whether I will actually be available?

If so, I'll take the Impreza, number 9.

I'll try to find out as soon as possible what my commitments are for that night.

Signed you up! For now to be confirmed 👍

Blah, I might have my kid that night. But he usually goes to bed between 7pm and 7:30pm anyway so I can still make the qualifying and race.
My only concern is if he wakes up and I have to go settle him again.

Ah go on - confirm my participation. I had a few laps last night on the 'Ring with that car fitted with S/M tires and it actually felt surprisingly good :)

If the worst comes to the worst I'll pull the car over to a safe place and quickly settle him.
I'm desperate to get into an organised event, and Nordschleife is far and away my favourite track.

Welcome m8h3r!! :)

We have now 1 place left for the HONDA and 3 for the SUBARU 👍

Put me down provisionally for the Subaru class (no. 56), it's kinda in the middle of my end of year uni exams so I may have to sit it out and revise, depends how it's going/how I'm feeling. Should be able to spare 3 hours for a break though haha.
