Steward's Comments:
WRP001 (Tim) is heavily involved in running our online events and loves race cars, especially fast ones. He's on vacation right now, without a PS3. I don't think he's going to be very happy that I picked this car while he is away.

The combo is fantastic. The track is wide, flowing, and probably the most commented/requested track to have turned into a real life venue. The car has loads of grip, but the power must be harnessed. Be careful and have fun. 👍

Viewing your T1 & T2 Lap Time Splits:

  • You need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay'

  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Home' and watch the replay from there using the 'Replay Theater' option.
  • While Viewing Your Replay, Choose the "Live Timing Monitor" To View Your Sector Times
  • To post your T1, and T2 Splits, simply post the sector times that are shown in the live timing monitor.
  • The WRS Fetchbot has been updated and will now add your splits together

Standard Clean OLR Rules:

  • At least two tires in contact with track at all times.
    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.

  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done, and we can read your mind.We will know.
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Save your best lap/ghost replay

Possibly the best title for a WRS event ever Kevin 👍
And you know he will for springing a combo like this while he's away.
I'll bet a loaded R8 that he's browsed best buy online to see what it would take to get this one in. Not saying he was thinking of going through with it, just that it crossed his mind to look

This looks like it will be a ton of fun :)

I'd be careful Kevin, I'd look out for any green cars at your real races. Better safe....

Good opportunity to try to tame one of these beasts. We'll see what happens...

Cool looking car. Had to give it a go. Hope I wont be real slow this week. haha
LMPs, havent yet figured them out tuning wise or driving wise really and may never but I still like them and think they are cool anyhow.:)

Kevin, you are an evil, evil man. :D

That he is... You guys enjoy while I quote Tolkien:

"Ho! Ho! Ho! To the bottle I go.
To heal my heart and drown my woe."

GameStop Tim, GameStop. 160gb PS3, GT5XL, plus a game for the kids for $250. Buy two, play now, take them home and then you only need two more monitors and you have a triple screen setup. See how I just spent $900 of your money:D

No tuning so far. Just raised downforce to maximum values. The torque from the diesel makes it very hard to go full throttle around certain parts of the track.

Honestly I would spend the $250 in a heartbeat... but I can't drive with a DS3... Add $500 for the wheel and $500 for the cockpit. And last, but not least, how much does a very unhappy wife cost? :dopey: I'll think about it.

EDK
You could always go with a DFGT and wheelstand pro.

$243 for both.

:mischievous:

That leaves $757 to go toward making that unhappy wife happier.

Oh, I'm pretty sure $$ has nothing to do with the wife element  All the money in Maine couldn't fix the damage a(nother) PS3 could bring with it.

And please don't mention the DFGT to Tim, his review of the G25 was ...well, it's no TS500 apparently. ;) It was a fun rant though IIRC.

Buy T500 from Fry's, when you get beck return it but pack in your unreliable one and keep the new;), you can give me the new Obutto if you'd like, and 12 dozen roses for the wife. You just aren't thinking creatively enough.:D

Now that's a plan!
Are some sort of hostage negotiator Scott? 👍

 Inspired creative thinking guys. I shall call on this collective brain-power when the time comes for me to negotiate for a Fanatec CSW ;) For now, stop torturing Tim, it's mean. :mischievous:

Great combo though Kev. 👍

I thought I'd just had a quick blast round but apparently it was an hour.... this might be one of those weeks that demands more time. :sly:

More time in there... lap was a bit scruffy at this point. No proper setup yet either. Max downforce, LSD 5/10/10, camber 2.0/1.0, toe 0.00/0.00, BB 5/3, ABS 10

LMPs, havent yet figured them out tuning wise or driving wise really and may never but I still like them and think they are cool anyhow.:)
Needs real smooth steering inputs, early on the power and lots of faith in the downforce in the high-speed bends. Thrash it beyond its limits for a few laps then start to wind it back in. :)

I made a bit of a tune for the car at one time, and was sing it when testing. I will get it posted up later on, when I have the game running.

I figured out what we did in the first post that was hanging up Fetchy, so everything for both week 72 and this week should be corrected now. The only exception being that Speedy still has to make some images. :)

Having feet problems, so may not last the week.:indiff:

Only a few miles.

Using Praiano's tune but changed the LSD on initial to 10:

audir10rc.jpg

Early splits, having trouble exiting the slow corners. Lots of rear tire spin with all that torque. :scared:

Haven't had much time in this car, more so in the gas powered version. These diesels seem to have a narrow rev range for all that torque. Looks like lots of laps for me to learn this torque monster.

Wait! You're on vacation and your wife is unhappy? Sounds like you need a whole new setup and I'm not talking PS3/Wheel/Cockpit here.

Haven't tried a real tune yet. At 682 hp, that should be the max. I'm wondering if, with the right tune, it would be possible to keep it floored from the exit of the hairpin to the last (left-hand) turn. As it is, I have to lift off a bit for the first left-hander after the hairpin.

Nice start Wes. 👍

Getting used to this baby's mid corner behaviour now.

32.363
31.531

More to come - still quite untidy on some exits. Fantastic fun finding the limits with cars this fast. 👍

👍 Not sure its about the tune so much as the line you take. On some laps I have to lift to stay on track but nail it just right and its flat out all the way. Stay off the curb on that left hander though.

Some good splits..
T1: 32.315
T2: 31.368

Time to work on the tune.

After a quick visit to SSRX, I made some changes: Ramon's Tranny Trick and other new changes in red and was able to knock almost .6 off my last splits. Kind of a sloppy lap though. :ouch:

My first 15 laps session:

33.815
33.003

Wow, what a nice combo again, this track in the reverse layout feels so great, especially the s corners after the tunnel :)
The car has a lot of power, will be a hard task to tame this TDI monster.
Using Praiano´s tune.

34.888
34.840

Just on DS3, only made adjustments to Camber and LSD Acceleration so far.

Will have to look into a full tune, this is one volatile biatch.

33.714
33.048

Clean lap because I was black/red flaged here on the last one. Going to submit in case I forget, but I'm not done.

Hmm, I don't have any credits left after buying the 2 audis on the "recommended buys" thread.

Have to go earn some cash.
