I am currently using a DFGT, and fairly new at it. I practice daily, and I'm making good progress, but I have some trouble with drifting straights and transitions. I am great with DS3, but I want a more realistic simulation, and I'm seeking smoother drifts, and hoping to get on a great team, like Burst, or Nemesis after mastering my wheel. Any good advice anyone might have to improve my drifting? Any help is greatly appreciated:D

I been on the DFGT since day one and I think that the best thing may be to Just feel it out. Go at your own pace and keep cool. Practice makes perfect. DONT get aggravated with the wheel haha and you will start to get it. Some people just get mad and give up. Add me if you wanna drift some time 👍

By transitions you mean when you're "changing sides"? :) With the DS3 you probably already learned how to pump the throttle at the correct time, but it might take a while to learn to turn the wheel really fast from almost lock to lock (if you've got big angle).

For this you should try sort of throwing the wheel around, use the FFB to help you turn and also use it to determine how much to turn, to find the steady angle from which you can start working the car with the throttle and steering.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ54QkUAX5I&feature=player_detailpage#t=122s this is not exactly a drifting video but this is what I mean. Try loosening your grip of the wheel a bit and sort of let it turn between your fingers and then stop it at the right time and start working the drift with the throttle.

As JustDrift893 said, it takes a lot of practice, but don't give up! :)

Yes by transitions I mean changing sides. Thanks for the tips there, and the video. I run 10 FFB, and I don't use any aids. I am just trying to practice the feathering technique used in real life... idk if this is correct? But I try to keep cool and not get aggravated by comparing my skill with the wheel to my DS3 skill lol (makes me very angry to feel like im just starting from day 1 again :yuck:) I use the wheel until my shoulders make me stop

Add me if you wanna drift some time 👍

Yeah I'd love to drift sometime, whats your PSN? Or if you want you can just add me, I'm online now. ;)

I've been on DFGT since 6 Days and won a comp :sly: anyways try a car you like alot stick with it (For me the Chaser). Tune it for your likings only drift with other wheel drifters not with DS3 drifters that gets you very very frustrated. look what they're doing ask them for their setup and some tips so you can try them out and maybe get better. BTW try stock ride height too it works awesome on flat tracks. and last tip watch drift bible till you can't go to toilet anymore.

I use FFB 3 no steering assits
My shoulder was hurting at day1 too

Thanks for the great support guys, it is much appreciated. I am using my wheel right now btw :gtpflag:

I was the same way, great with the DS3 but horrible when I first encountered the wheel, drifting that is. As everyone has said, practice, and practice. For a car that you can buy straight from the premium dealer, put CH tires on and go without tuning, the S2000 GT1(Amuse). That's just my taste but I've learned loads from that car. :D Also, try Rally. 👍 Take any 4wd rally car you enjoy and lap K Trail over and over as fast as you can, cleanly of course. Lot of transitions there and the gravel really slows things down for you for learning without the 'bite' of tarmac. If you haven't driven on gravel with the wheel yet, you're in for a serious shock compared to how the DS3 performs lol.

However I'm no pro. It tooks me months of 🤬:banghead:🤬 before I even scored my first gold in a seasonal drift lol

Try putting FFB on 5 or 6, that's what most people use. Make sure you are holding the wheel right too. It takes time. You'll get ahold of it eventually.

The S15 is a great car to practice with good luck with your progression man.

edit: How long have you been using the wheel?

edit: If you haven't made a e brake lever you might want to it's a life saver. You can see me explain my e brake at around 4:14 in this video i hope it gives you some ideas.

Ive been using the wheel for like 1 week, i dont have an ebrake lever and ive found it to be extremely difficult/impossible to ebrake lol

Ah well don't give up man the first three weeks was the hardest part for me.

edit: You can do the same thing with an old joystick.

I was thinking of using my controller, and pressing 'O' to ebrake, if you set the controller as controller 1, the ebrake works and doesnt interfere with the wheel. Is this a bad idea? lol

Its completely normal to do that just assign your ds3 to controller one and your good to go.

Good idea eddyac but i would find it very hard to up shift in the middle of a drift.

Yea was like that when first tested it works fine now when you get used to it .You can switch too so you got upshift on Gear stick and downshift on the pedals. I might try that soon out

I use the gearstick as ebrake and upshifting with the pedals works fine for me 👍
I was thinking this was a good idea and ive tried it before, but Im not sure if i will be able to change gears while the wheel is spinning around.. what if I accidentally shift down instead of up while the wheel is upside down lol:lol:

Stoner, best post ive seen tonight. :tup:This is def gonna help me out the greatest, i never imagined modding my wheel like that, but now that i see its possible...lol. He also has the same wheel as me so I'm set! I'm still practicing, I'm in my lounge and I'm @ Suzuka... I'm so tired of going deep into sand, its so frustrating 🤬 :banghead:, but I wont give up

Don't give up man it takes a lot of hard work determination to learn drifting with the wheel, you will get there in time. 👍

Thank you so much for everything, hopefully sometime I can return the favor :). I'm striving to be where you are, Team Nemesis... or a great team like them

No problem man here is some useful info I have posted before and some reasons why you would “snap back” mid drift. I find that when you get a ''snapping back'' effect it is because of a few reasons.

a) You are not putting on the power enough so the weight has shifted to the front tires gaining grip and throwing you into a wall while still counter steering.

b) You are in to low of a gear third instead of fourth for example. Meaning you are using up all of the power and bouncing off of the limiter, there is not enough power to keep the drift going causing a snap back.

c) You have not returned the wheel back to center fast enough on exit. Meaning you were still counter steering when the front tires gained grip causing snap back.

I hope this helps.

I drift my cars with steering control and throttle control.so when you turn in,give it some gas then let the steering wheel turn the other way then catch it and use throttle control and steering control.to drift around two corners,do the same thing but turn the steering wheel to the other corner to drift around the other corner.
