Tracks were tested & chosen for their length, complexity,
and their variety of differences from one another. 👍
We had great fun racing this car previously!

Points:
Flat points based upon race participation.
(ie: 8 cars, 1st place gets 8pts, 2nd place gets 7pts, etc.)

Rules:
GTP OLR Rules
  • Please familiarize yourself with these rules prior to the event.
  • You are expected to behave like sporting gentlemen at all times. Dirty driving is absolutely forbidden.
  • If you cause a contact, you must make contact concessions. ie: no bump-passing
  • Failure to make contact concessions will result in a post-race penalty concession. (ie: you will be placed below that racer in the results)
  • Caution must be exercised when re-entering the track after an off-road excursion or spin caused by any reason.
  • Carless driving, recklessness, & aggressive risky maneuvers may result in post-race penalties, and will certainly result in your fellow racers being ill tempered... (ie: ill tempers will lead to race reviews & post-race penalties - so if in doubt, "pace down")
  • Retaliation, "payback", & monkey-see-monkey-do rule flouting will not be tolerated.
  • The in-game penalty system is switched to off to prevent ghosting, with the understanding that GTPlanet racers do not need the in-game penalty system to follow posted track rules. Shorting the track is strictly prohibited, must have 2 wheels on the tarmac (or at least rumble curbing) - this includes "going wide"; ie: off-roading in the grass or dirt, or using tarmac outside the parameters of the track, is forbidden. If off-roading occurs by accident, throttle lift is both expected and mandatory to avoid potential post-race penalties.
  • In case of any incident involving a crash or rule violation, please review the replay, and take a breather, before drawing conclusions or making accusations. Note the time and location of the incident. Try dialogue with the other driver first with Private Messaging. You may report the incident via Private Messaging, with details, in a timely manner (ie: soon after the race), if warranted, so an appointed steward &/or the race director may review the incident.
To sum up the "spirit" of the rules:
"Integrity before victory." - Trackbound7

Race will be hosted in the VCRC Lounge,
add PSN: VCRC

Note: This account is just the club lounge account. It will rarely be signed on.
Get the FR in a.s.a.p. to assure acceptance in advance of racing.
In order to check the league lounge, you must click on the coffee cup,
and wait for the room content list to present.
No yellow people icon will show, even when the room is full.

Also please note that all club communication should be done through GTPlanet,
and not directed toward the PSN acct, as nobody checks messages there often, if at all.

Would the race be too long using S800, it's kinda slow when stock.... I have the car, would love to join in.

Which day?

"too long" in what sense?
That's why it's 2 laps per race... which would seem bizarre in ordinary circumstances.
But because it's a low power car on long tracks, it makes sense.
I gauge the races to be around 12 minutes a piece, possibly less - not long at all.

I meant the track length, 15 minutes race is fine, maybe a shorter track with more laps would be more exciting, those custom track averaged at 5 miles each, it would be more fun with 2 miles track with 5 laps each. Just a suggestion.

I picked them purposely because they're long & complex. :sly:

I'm probably going to do some test racing tomorrow (Monday) around 2pm US EDT / 7pm UK BST / 18:00 UTC/GMT... if anyone's interested in some practice. :D ^^

@ Apmaddock WELCOME glad the time works. 👍

(Like the signature... you seem pretty good with Toscana tarmac. :nervous: :D)

I might have a play in your room tomorrow. I enjoyed the TT in the S800 only done one lap so far but got 350th on my first try and I plan to go back and improve on it :D. (Hoping for top 200-250 :))

Thought about entering, then I saw the race info.

5-6 miles...in a S800....2 laps?

What's the difference between that and driving the same small track several times for the same amount of time & distance?
I like the long complex tracks because it's far more interesting than driving a low power car around Autumn Ring Mini 2 dozen times.

I try to come up with things that are not boring and not done a million times before.

The beauty of these long tracks is that very few people can "learn them well", like being aces at Suzuka or Nürburgring by racing it in gran turismo for 3 or 4 years.
It becomes more about driving (driving simulator) than a competition about who has practiced a track to perfection in every sector.
I think there's room for both kinds of racing. (And the latter is easy to find, this is not as easy.)

Sure. Now I read this...

Some people just don't get it, melon, or are so ingrained in the same single sort of races that they can't see how a slight change could possibly work...

It's okay I got waylaid by the need to make tomatoes into sauce pronto today. :dopey: And then the VCRC lounge filled up with Vintage Showdown challengers. So I wound up not getting around to testing until 3pm, but I'll probably be testing tomorrow around the same time, around 2pm or so.
ANYONE is welcome to come test out the tracks.

I was planning a time progression. Not within the race, but starting each one a bit later than the previous one, to have the sun closer & closer to horizon in each race.
But obviously I want to "get it right" so that nothing unexpected happens. Like winding up dark early in the last race. :scared: :ill: Don't want that, frankly.

At any rate, I think you're right, it's very common to do the same sorts of races all the time. Particularly if you're in one series, or one club.
Granted, I think some people PREFER one type of racing.
But I imagine a lot of people haven't really tried a lot of different cars in a lot of different scenarios.
I like to mix it up.

Plus, there's different things that will work for different reasons.
I know a lot of people are scared off by custom tracks, because they think they're going to be the only person who didn't memorize the track practicing.
Or assume they'll never have a chance at winning because somebody's going to be an expert on the track.
Well, let me tell ya, with these tracks, anyone is welcome to get any of them in advance of racing. But I think it would take awhile racing these tracks to really perfect them. They're just too long & bizarre. So there's really no worries there.
I've test driven them all of course, we had a couple of races the other day with a couple of people, to make sure that the s800 wouldn't hit the limiter or anything. But do I know them? :boggled: Afraid not. Other than that RMC Toscana, I know better than to speed into anything blindly.

I know The Italian Job a little, just because we've had 2 previous events with it:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=247708
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=253021
But do I know it? Not really.

Not even my own!

Note: I probably wouldn't suggest a heavy damage endurance on any of these tracks. :sly:

Ok, sign me up.

Xstylez / Xstylez---X / Matte Pink / Thursday

Might wanna change sign up form to Thursday.

Me, Melon and Orido was testing a bit and I have to confess that I love this car. :) Wish I could do this track day thingy (see melon, I didn't call it a series..) but I don't think I'll be available any of the times.

Oh and i JUST noticed your signature melon hahaha, light pink is barely visible on my screen. ^^ Interesting how i've become "the swede" :P

Well maybe we can switch Saturday's to something that you, John WElls, me, & Atongo can do? :D :D

I really love this car too.
It was an immediate favourite of mine starting in gt4. :)

BTW: My schedule is not that tight... it's just UNCERTAIN. I can't plan anything during the week too far in advance.

My schedule is pretty "uncertain" as well.. but i can do late week night mostly ^^ but soon i won't be able to do that either and then i don't know what to do. :P

Hi, Melon, I'm in for today, Ridox2JZGTE/ GTP_Orido / Everest Blue

I'd just checked my garage, it only has 68hp, forgot to rebuild the engine, no wonder it felt kind of slow when we did the test races.

I thought your car seemed a bit sluggish on the uphill straights.
Though you did well enough even without the engine rebuild!!!! :nervous:

I had a great time racing the S800, tho I drove rather recklessly, crashing more than I should, but it was fun.
