Hey All.
I am looking to join and or start a New League/ Club. I am already a member of the Turtle Racing League, and I like the way they are setup, but I'd like to join or start a league that has a multi-class setup in Enduro style. I'd love to see at least 2 classes, but preferably 3-4 classes on the same track at the same time for at least 45 minutes to an hour at a time, possibly longer.
Obviously this type of setup would require a regular commitment from members of the league so that we can have competition on the course, and preferably at least 20 members with the ability to run every week. We could have 2-4 classes at 1 time on the track, with PP or weight to HP basis for determining classes. I know rooms can only hold 16 for an actual race, so if we had 3 classes at a time, it would be 5 cars per class, with 1 spot for an alternate/ additional racer, or 4 classes, with 4 cars per class, or even the option for a larger single class, and smaller classes as well, such as 6-6-4, or even 8-4-4. I'd prefer to have at least 4 cars in each class, so depending on turnout and/or interest, I think we could work that out.
I'd like to give people the option of running multiple classes, but preferably stay in the same class for 4-6 weeks at a time. Maybe a graduation system, i.e. start in bottom class for new peeps, and top 2 in each class gets graduated to next class, and bottom 2 gets set lower. For classes with 4 or less, top 1 and bottom 1 would be moved. All of this is still based on turnout, but I think optimum would be a beginner/ amateur class of 4, a mid-level class of 6-8, and a top-level class of 4-6.
I'd like to have the type of setup where we could have 1-2 hour practice session on day 1, and day 2 would have a 30 minute to 1 hour qualifying session, and then a 15 minute warmup period, followed by a full enduro length race of at least an hour, but possibly longer. If we can get the competition level up, something that requires a decent commitment from you guys, then we could look into races that require at least 3 pit stops. I think that would be ideal, and closer to an actual race. Typically this length of race would require around 90 minutes to 2 hours, plus warmup and qualifying. Based on the way GT5 sets starting spots, a general qualifying session of at least 30 minutes should allow for everyone to be placed within their respective classes, as there should hopefully be at least a 2-3 second difference in lap times between classes.
As far as scheduling, I'd like to have 6 week seasons, with Division/ Class points, and overall points. Basically going on the above class setup I mentioned, we'd have points allotted to each finishing position within your class, and my goal would be as follows:
1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 7 points
3rd place: 5 points
4th place: 3 points
5th place (if applicable): 2 points
6th place (if applicable): 1 Point
7th & 8th (if applicable): 0 points
Overall would be as follows:
1st place: 25 points
2nd place: 21 points
3rd place: 18 points
4th place: 16 points
5th place: 14 points
6th place: 12 points
7th place: 10 points
8th place: 9 points
9th place: 8 points
10th place: 7 points
11th place: 6 points
12th place: 5 points
13th place: 4 points
14th place: 3 points
15th place: 2 points
16th place: 1 point
To determine standings, we would combine both points and provide a standings for each class, and then at the end of each 6 week season, we would announce a champion for the season, as well as graduations/ demotions.
Classes & Restrictions-
Class A (Top-Level):
-PP Cap of 800
-Unlimited Tuning
-No Drivers Aids, except ABS
-Preferably same type of car per week or season, but debatable. (i.e. everyone has to run a LM class or Prototype vehicle for the season which has be tuned to 800 PP, and then the next season change it up to RM cars, or whatever)
Class B (Mid-Level):
-PP Cap of 650
-Unlimited Tuning
-Driving Line and ABS acceptable, all others disabled
-Preferably same type of car per week or season, but debatable. (i.e. everyone has to run an Exotic/ Supercar vehicle for the season which has be tuned to 650 PP, and then the next season change it up to GT500 cars, or whatever)
Class C (Beginners):
-PP Cap of 500
-No Tuning other that Brake Balance
-All Aids available
-Preferably same car per week or season, but debatable. (i.e. everyone has to run a McLaren MP4-12C for the season, and then the next season change it up to Ferrari F40, or whatever)
I Feel like this would allow for the most competition among Classes, and still allow everyone to remain mostly competitive across Classes as well. Obviously Class A should dominate Class C, but top level Class C should be competitive with bottom level Class B, and so forth, which should allow for a good mix of racing, and some interesting results in points standings. The 6 week season should allow for enough time to see driver ability, and not so long that someone runs away with the points.
I'd like to consider an all star race in between each season or every 2 seasons, where everyone runs all 3 classes in the same night, but have 3 heats of 15-20 laps, with qualifying for the first heat, and then flipped grid for the next 2. You would have the option of running whichever Class you wanted for each heat, but you have to have run all 3 classes by the end of the night, and then we would combine points earned for each heat to determine an overall podium for the night, with a prize for the Champ, and bragging rights for 2nd and 3rd.
I'm basically putting this out there as a feeler to see if there is enough interest to open a full league, or if anyone knows of a league that is already setup in this manner or a very similar manner. Please respond if interested, and let me know availability. If I do decide to setup a new league, We'd be looking at probably Thursday Evening practice session, and a Sunday (Day or Evening) Race day, but I'd be open to suggestions.
P.S.
If anyone has ideas/ suggestions how to tweak the class system, points system, scheduling, etc. I'd love to hear it, As I'm hoping to get this started within the next few weeks, and I'd like to have a pretty good outline of where we're wanting it to be before I build everything necessary to get it set up.
