Lap time glitch in practice mode???

I was testing out different transmission setups and spoiler settings using a Lambo Superveloce at Grand Valley in practice mode. I was doing lap times with a particular setup and even though the car felt neutral (maybe a little snug on corner exit) the lap times were slower than I felt they should have been. I put this down to the transmission/spoiler setup and I had and even written the difference in my notes. I then changed the downforce settings and engine reducer (keeping @ 550pp). Went out to the track and when I crossed the start line on my first lap, it gave me a bunch of red numbers (gap time) and the lap time counter was in red as well. First thought…this ain’t right. So I got out of the track, back to the course selection screen. Got back into the track and started my lap times with no issues. My lap time for this small change was 1 second faster than I had on the very first setup. I decided to go back to the original setup and try again. There was a time improvement of 8 tenths of a second. I’ll admit I’m not GT Elite, and even though my lap times won’t be the best (junk) they are pretty consistent… consistently junk! I know that when doing online races or practices I’ve had people join the room and my car characteristics might change, usually towards the tight side. So I just reload the track and away we go. My questions are… Has anyone else come across this? If so, are there any warning signs to look out for? I’ve got loads of spreadsheets with lap times and I’m a little concerned that I might have had this issue before without realizing it.

Usually if the lap time is in red, it is invalid for either cutting a corner too close, hitting a barrier, or for some other infraction.

Yeah it wasn't anything to do with an infraction. The gap time showed in red something along the lines of (-999.999.999xx) it was unique I'll give it that, and the lap time logger was in red like the current lap was invalid. But the bigger issue is the lap times before and after this happened.

Yeah, I've had the -999.999.999 split counter many times, but more often in Lounges online. Haven't seen it in Practice mode yet. Still don't fully understand what you mean by the rest of your post.

Before the "glitch" came up I was running consistent lap times of 1.55.9 (About 6 laps worth of practice). After resetting the track, the very first lap was 1.55.1. It's very unusual that I have a gap time like that after running consistent laps. Just wondering if the glitch had anything to do with it.

I have a feeling it was because you were driving with a ghost for the first 6 then when you reset the track, the ghost disappeared, so without a ghost to chase you went faster.

Happens to me once in a hundred laps. Usually in Seasonal Time Trials
