Hot on the heels of the 15th Anniversary Celebration, PDI has update the numbers of units moved for all Gran Turismo titles. With that said, GT5 continues to impress me, especially in Europe.

GT5 Total: 10,660,000

Here is the breakdown for individual areas.

GT5 Japan: 780,000
GT5 America: 2,810,000
GT5 Europe: 6,740,000
GT5 Asia: 340,000

GT5 has passed GT1 and will soon pass GT2, although I am not sure it will pass GT4 when it's all said and done. I think it's obvious to why PDI decided to tap into the PS3 user base.

Just out of curiosity, what were the figures for GT4? I don't follow the numbers much, but since you brought it up, I was just curious to see the comparison so far.

Edit: Nevermind.

What about Australia, NZ, S.America, Africa, etc?

I think australia and nz fall under sony europe I thought I saw something like that on a game.

It makes sense to release GT6 on PS3 financially even if what we are getting is GT5.5 ( I am not complaining). Another 10 mill of them will go for sure. :-)

What a milestone for the Gran Turismo series! 👍

The fact that GT5 has hit over 10 million shows that a vast majority don't even care about the reviews and "issues" some may have with GT5.

It's a great game that many people still love after 15 years, even with other options available.

What other options are there on PS3 though? I'm pretty sure that is a large factor for it's sales, if you want a realistic driving/racing game with road cars and race cars and you only have a PS3 what are your options? There's GRID and SHIFT but they're no good if you want normal road cars.

Scratch that, in general what options do you have?

GT5 has the widest selection of cars a typical person can afford to drive with the widest global selection of tracks to my knowledge.

I remember when I was scorned by GT5 I was trying to find another game that was similar and came up short. There's nothing else quite like it..

Simon, while you do have a point, many realistic racing games have challenged GT's dominance on the other Sony consoles and many have failed.

Plus, as many here are quick to point out, there is always Forza. ;)

That is exactly right. There is a reason over 10 million people have purchased GT5 and continue to trust what PDI puts out.

Even if "this" is wrong and "that" is incorrect".:)

The sales figures do not count for USED disc sales right or does it?

Own 4 GT5 discs as I am sure SOME might have 2 discs as well.

I am glad to hear GT5 has hit it's milestone. But, PD prolly won't give us anything to celebrate it aside from the Seasonal event that drivers like myself cant enjoy as I am no good at the nurb especially in a car that I am A. Unfamiliar with and B. Cannot practice in as I do not have it. I would love to see Silverstone as a free DLC for us. But, PD has the final say in it. I do hope that GT6 does away with the Standard/Premium and condenses our selection down to 2 or three notable variations of each car so we don't get flooded with 10 versions of the same car. For example, SVX and Myself both have SIR II EG's his is a 91 mine is a 93 after that they are identical aside from Mileage making mine(56k miles) 2 hp short of his (~350 miles). I also have two R34 prem's that are similar to the R34 N1 and the M.N.P. R34 in everyway.

I just want GT to be GT with some added new features like how GT6 has (fulfilling my dreams btw), it shouldn't change at what its good at but fix little things that were issued. Like how Mario games are good at being Mario.

I believe in PD to make GT6 the BEST racing game of this generation, and hopefully hitting 9m - 10m again. :D
