WCF reader Samir Sadikhov has sent us several photos of an Aston Martin DBC Concept, his vision of a rear mid-engine RWD coming from Gaydon.
If the name Samir Sadikhov seems familiar, that's because he took second place in the Ferrari World Design Contest in 2011 with his Xezri Concept. You also might remember Samir from his Cadillac C-Ville envisioned as a more luxurious XTS.
His latest project is of a "thoroughly modern Aston Martin" with regular AM styling which could be easily carried over to a production version. Typical Aston Martin design cues include the front grille's shape and side strakes wrapped around in a more modern package to make the car "look like a muscular athlete wearing a tailor-made suit."
Samir says his objective was "to ensure that the car's design was pure, clean and modern, while at the same time you should be able to put your hand over the front nose badge and still recognize the car as an Aston Martin."

Yes it's just a designer's rendition, but from a very reputable designer. I doubt it will even make it as a rolling concept at an auto show, but one can hope !

I don't like it, soemthing's wrong with the proportions. The details look okay, though, and with some refintement it could look really good. However, Astons aren't really meant to be mid-engined. Astonas are GT cars; fast, beautiful, and roomy. They should be beautiul and useable first, and fun second. They're not about lap times. So a mid-engined Aston doesn't really fit into the brand's identity for me.

Really? I love the proportions! I like it better than the CX-75. But you're correct, Aston's road cars are GTs and that's what Aston Martin is good at. However, Aston has been about lap times since the DBR9, shoot they made a LeMans prototype. IMO I don't think a mid-engine supercar is that far out for Aston Martin anymore. Whether or not it fits Aston Martin's lineup and image is up for debate, and I do agree, it seems out of place for them (but I still like it).
