First of all. Thank you very much for a great site. :)

Secondly. I could really use a spell check option. English is not my first language, and sometimes it is very hard work for me to make an understandable post. Of course I use a dictonary, whenever in doubt, but the main problem occur, when I'm certain of the spelling. One thing is my bad grammar, but it sure would be nice to know that my spelling was right. ;)

Alternative. Does anybody know, if it is possible to spell check in an easy way elsewhere on the net?

Sorry if this is a frequently upcoming question. I did search the site, but only found some very old threads, where Jordan replyed, that a spellcheck would be enabled in the future.

I just fire up MS Word and paste my text in it when I am really concerned about spelling. It corrects it, then I paste the corrected text in the reply box here.

Good idea, but unfortunately my writing software is in danish. I fear that would give an even worse result.;)

NielsG, you do a great job of posting in English! Unfortunately, there is really no practical way for me to integrate a spell checker into the site. However, there is a free program called ieSpell, which will check your spelling of anything you type in your web browser (including your posts here). It is in English, and should be just what you're looking for. I use it all the time and find it to be very helpful.

Thank you, Jordan. Just what I need. I'll give it a try. :)

Edit: Just tried it out. It's fabulous. :D

His English is great...much better than most people here! I'm happy that it worked out for you, NielsG. :)

And waaaaay better than most native-English speakers here...

Was there any further progress on being able to integrate a spell check into the forum ? I really do think it would be a benefit to the forum on an international scale and a valuable tool for users who don't use English as there main spoken language, speaking English is one thing attempting to put it into text is another only then to be ridiculed (by certain members not mods) for making a mistake, it would also stop unnecessarily sarcastic comments from others.
Thank's, Scud

There is really no point in having spell check through forum software when most (all?) browsers have it built in already.

Believe it or not, Internet Explorer is actually still missing a spell check feature. To answer your question, though, Scud, there are unfortunately no plans to implement spell checking with the forum software.

Reading old posts, we can always install ieSpell, right? 💡

Exactly what Jordan said. IE doesn't have one. :grumpy: I don't need it though, I type my english pretty well.

And my French pretty good, too. :D

I never said excellent, instead I just used "pretty well."

This is not English class.
I just gave myself and English lesson. Not how you put the quotation mark in front of the full stop? In Australia we put it before which I find interesting, I spent the best part of 10 minutes reading into that :D!

The internet programs Firefox and Chrome has spell-check.
For Firefox I always have to install the dictionary?
