SERIES FORMAT & RULES

A four race series using the Mini Cooper 1.3i done in homage of classic mid 1960's Mini Cooper S racing. We will be racing at the following circuits;

Race 1 (April 12-18, 2004): Smokey Mountain
Race 2 (April 19-25, 2004): Deep Forest 2
Race 3 (April 26 - May 2, 2004): Swiss Alps
Race 4 (May 3-9, 2004): Cote d' Azur

Races will all be single hot lap races run in the Arcade/Free Run Mode. Racers will have one full week to get their best time. All times are due before midnight (12:00am) EST (I am in New York City) on the final day of the race (always Sunday night). All times (final times AND sectors) are submitted via PM to me, Scuderia229.

The general rules are as follows (same as the weekly);

1. You must have 2 tires on the track at all times.
2. The rumble strips are considered part of the track.
3. No wall riding or touching.
4. No cutting the grass or short cutting.
5. No hybrids
6. No cheating of any kind.

Time Discussion: All "T" Times. (DO NOT discuss lap times in the race threads)

A x-port/sharkport is not needed for this race series but is prefered, otherwise you may be asked for your logger data to validate your lap time. I know most people in this series and this should not be an issue but please do not try to cheat. .XPS/.SPS files may be posted in the "Results" thread each week.

Car Specs: A Simulation Mini Cooper 1.3i...fully modified (178bhp). If you don't have the car (and don't have an x-port) it may be won in the Amateur League in the "European Championship". You will NOT be allowed to turn on both TC or ASM, both must be turned off for ALL racing (it is automatically off for rally events). Otherwise you can tune the car and adjust anything you want (no hybrids though), don't forget oil changes.

Tires: Each racer will have the three tire options below;
- Racing Slick (T3)
- Rally (two sets of these for the 2 rally races)
- Racing Soft (T7)

Racers will have to choose which tire to run on which circuit. If you run the "soft" (T7) tires on week two you MUST run the "slick" (T3) tires on week four, or vis-versa. Week one and three are rally races and you have only the rally tire option.

You MAY NOT mix the tires either (i.e. running soft up front and hard in back)...what you run on the front must be the same as the back....all 4 tires must be the same.

Please do not discuss your tire choices in the race thread, though from your sector times it may be obvious.

Points: This will be a points series. Points will break down as below;

1st = 10pts
2nd = 8pts
3rd = 6pts
4th = 5pts
5th = 4pts
6th = 3pts
7th = 2pts
8th = 1pt

Additionally 1pt will be awarded each week for EACH fastest sector. So a racer could come in 2nd overall but they also have the fastest T2 sector so they take home 9pts total for the week.

The overall series winner is the one who has the MOST points at the end of the four races. A tie in points would be broken by whoever has the faster four race combined time. If that still results in a tie the racer with more fastest sector time bonus points will win.

Weekly races will be determined by the fastest time (not points). So 1st place could post the fastest time, win the week and get 10pts but second place could be .020 slower overall but have the fastest T1 and T2 sectors and equal the 10pts for the week.

Feel free to submit times each week and/or join in as you like and race just for fun....

I'm getting an early start on this one. Ran last night, clean save of:

29.548 / 1.17.568

I have have to win all 12 points to tie Eggman for 2nd overall, I dunno if I can get it done. NielsG will be on T3's so no worries there;)

It's going to be a sore thumb week for me:mischievous:

Don't underestimate me here. I'll be waiting around every corner smashed against a wall, being a general hazard for every T7- racer. :lol:

First session (out of the two I'll be able to manage this week) featured only 5 laps, and the T times are far from what I expected :
T1 = 31.3, T2 = 1'22.8
I guess session two saturday evening will be a real nightmare... :(

You may do just that... I have to finish my TORC race tonight, and my son's baseball season starts tomorrow. So I'm not going to get started on this until the weekend, with 2 baseball practices sandwiched around band practice.

Good luck all!

Good luck with TORC, the field of racers is just tremendous this year! Almost all the big names seemed to have shown up. If I would have known there was going to be around 60 guys I would have participated again perhaps. It is just so tough for me to be competitve without spending WAAAYY too much time on my run. Have fun with your son's ballgames also. I play softball twice a week, so that takes up some of my drive time:D I'll be back with some updates in a few days hopefully...the WRS #64 is going to take up alot of my time this week, I can't resist a Miata race:P

Nice splits...now I have to work on this some more, you're making me nervous:scared:

I'm sure Eggman's t3 will be in the 1.16's and we'll both be behind:P

Hello, T3s !!!
Nothing posted so far concerning T3 tires times. I would have liked to know how awful my first times are and I can only compare to T7s, which makes a difference of almost 5 seconds on T2 time.
I'll get depressed about this :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Don't fear me this week, flat-out. I don't like Cote d'Azur, and I don't like T3's. And after I tried this combo, I can say, I don't like driving a Mini on T3's on Cote d'Azur. Drove about 10 laps and I won't give my T-splits now. :embarrassed:
I have a clean lap to submit, but hope I can find the time to improve, just for the sight of it. My goal this week is getting last, and so far I'm doing fine. ;)

Yeah NielsG. It looks like the best we can both expect is to fight for the penultimate rank on this event.:(
Hope there will be a Mini Cup '04 part 2.

hahaha...nope...I'd had enough of the Mini for a while...

a RUF cup may happen this summer though...;)

Or something I have been thinking about with GT4P.

I'm not fan of the RUF cars in GT3, except maybe the 4WD one (RGT I think).
But if GT4:P is released on schedule on May 26th, I'll definitely be interested by some GT4:P event.
I practiced some more 10 laps on Monaco without improving my time... One last session tonight and I'm done with it.

Time submitted. Actually I didn't improve the best time I did on my first session.
Penultimalte rank, here I am :(

I don't see a 1:16 coming from here...

Finally got started today, and currently @ 29.7 / 1:17.8.

Time submitted.

Never raced again and still refusing to talk about my T's. :embarrassed:

See you around. :)

Time submitted.

found a good setup which was faster and more consistant than my first run,so quite pleased this week:D

Big Thanx to Scuderia229 for running the series:tup:
its been a blast...

Time submitted. I don't think I'll be winning this round.:lol:
Thanks for all the fun scuderia229! I had a blast! Just too bad LDM couldn't make it to the end. Oh well, back to TORC.

I never did get around to try this one again since Monday, but hey, that's the way it's been going so why do anything different:lol: I am lacking motivation for OLR right now...I need GT4 to get my competitive blood flowing again:P Time submitted.

It's been fun racing with all you guys, see you on the track:cool:
