Murder and Canibilism

Should there be leniencey in Murder trials where canibalism is envolved because it is less wasteful ? What are your thoughts ?

Hmmm, yeah I am all about conservation. I would think there is a formula that could be writen to reduce years of sentence by percentage of body eaten. Something to that effect.

But you run in to the problem of having to prove that you've eaten the person, and not just burned them up or something.

You could always pick through their poop like a mom looking for a penny or something....

"Hey I got a tooth here, and a bit of hair!"

"Lucky for him, now he gets a few years knocked off. And to think we just thought he was a sicko murderer. Poor guy was just hungry."

"And frugal!"

Was it any less of a violation of a person's rights? That's why it's a crime in the first place.

Is this an even remotely serious question?

I would say its more so, because in addition to murder, you've desecrated his remains by eating them and denied the victim's family a proper burial, which is a custom in any society. Talk about adding insult to injury.

BTW danoff, I tried to PM you, but your inbox was full.

What if you kill the person, and eat the body because you are stranded on a island and cant find any food.

Did you kill for necessity?
Should there be an equal punishment?

I don't think you could really kill them just to eat them, but you'd better hope you can live that extra day so they die, and you've got something to eat without commiting murder...

Murder is murder no matter how hungry or deserted you are. Not that it really matters because how often are people faced with this sort of dilemma in the first place?

Well, it is something that needs to be addressed and there should be a ISO manual or something....even California had to just pass a bill that illegalized people from comitting necrophelia....if they had to pass a law for that, they shoudl cover the whole spectre of weird but necessary laws / injustices

I'm going to echo Duke's question here at this point: is that a even remotely serious statement? More people are killed by auto accidents or heart disease in 10 minutes than the number of people eaten by their neighbors in the last 10 years. I think you jest about just how important this issue needs to be 'addressed'.

I'm not telling you to stop talking about it, but this is hardly on my list of today's pertinent and compelling issues.

It may be on your list ///M Spec, but i thought it was just a topic people would have something to say about ( by the way, liked the 10 minutes / 10 years thing...very good ! )

It's not murder if there is no law against it. And I would say that on a deserted island, there is no law (:

Law and morality are far from the same thing.

If there are two of us on a desert island, and I attack you and kill you, it's murder, whether there is law there or not. If I attack you and you kill me in self defense, it's not murder.

The definition lies in the morality, NOT in the legality.

"Murder is less severe if you eat them afterwards?" (paraphrase)

Man, this HAS to be the dumbest thread ever seen on this site, ever.

Oh, there's a poll on the PS2 board asking whether or not people are going to buy GT4 that will give this thread a run for its money...

Reduced sentence?

I tell you what, If I ever come across some sick **** who gets off on eating the bodies of his victims, I'll do my utmost to put him away for the rest of his (hopefully short) life.

It's keeping SOBs like that of the streets that's making me become a cop.

Abuse of a corpse ( cannibalism ) is criminal . This thread is mearly phsycotic and somewhat moronic.

The Japenese had some insane soldiers who liked to eat the livers and the flesh of captured air men and other soldiers. The thought was you gained power from it. When they were charged with war crimes there was no law against EATING YOUR PRISONERS. No law was ever introduced because no one ever thought that it would ever be done ..like who's that crazy ? So that had to be charged with something else, like abuse of corpse or improper burial. Of course the fact that they had killed the captive by bayonet practice or sharp bamboo spears was also taken into consideration. The people in China who had to put up with the majority of this type of thing were not so lucky as to get war crime trials. In China the practice was wide spread along with just plain rape and beheadings.
