I finally have my own cockpit. I built it up the last week end in 2 days. It was a good and interesting project. So now...i'm just waiting after one little thing... GT4!!!!!

I'm so enthusiam to try the new physic engine and the 900 degrees of my DFP with GT4! Now, i'm playing with Gt3 and I like it very much. But i read that it's not comparable with Gt4.... I can't wait to try it with GT4 :) just a month to wait....

(Sorry for my english...i'm from Quebec and i mostly speak french :)

It's my first post, but i''m watching the forum since....2 months now hehe :D

whoa! i wish i had that to play GT3 and soon to be replaced with GT4. i want to just buy a seat out of a car in a junkyard or something and do something like that.

I was lucky because one of my friend send his car to the junk yard. I picked up his passenger seat for 0$ :D It's the cheapest solution to make a nice cockpit like that. It's made in ABS like PVC but a little bit more powerful and it cost to me about 80$CA with the wood, screw, and PVC...

I you want to make something like that DON'T USE GLUE....you have 30 sec to plug you part...if you miss it...you're in big trouble ;) So...using screw is the best deal :)

Hehe...thanx for encouragements about my english :P And...i'm sorry it's not to self...it's a emotional peace of art!!! :D

welcome to the forums...
I'm wrong western canada.... man that platform is pretty nice... and not very expensive. unlike the ones you order online :(

are there any more detailed pictures of it so maybe forum members can get some ideas in building it?... like the mounting of the seat and the wood pieces

Wow, amazing....make me one!!!!
Looks comfortable too, Don't know about the gas/brake pedals seems that they will slide when slammed upon!

A nice way to get seats is heading down to a junk/scrap yard, and pulling seats from a sports car. I could get some Celica seats, both front seats, for $18 USD.

Mount one of those on a wooden box or similar to give some height. For the pedal and steering wheel, mount to flat, level services and elavate the wheel service with PVC pipe. Then make brackets or what not to hold the pedal/wheel cluster to the seat position.

Thats what I would do.

Still, not the same as racing an actual car... >_>

Very nice. I'm planning on doing the same thing, I put a racing bucket seat in my car, so I have a stock driver's seat sitting around doing nothing.

looks good!
wondering if the pedal would slide away after a period of time
seems like you don't have anything to keep the pedal in position
if you have carpet instead of hardwood floor would be helpful too

Yeah...for the moment it's ok cause de rubber pads is adherant...but i though tu put the pedal in a certain angle..maybe it will better...fixed on a wood board

I was thinking that too. Or have you thought about making a stand for the tv on top of your cockpit Alex?

Yeah maybe later....now i'm playing on my parents TV...so after christmas...they give me the 21 inch tv..so i will probably install it in front of my face...not to near...but at a good distance :)

Yeah..just in 2 days...Is was fun to make...like a Puzzle. I had the plan in my head...so is why you can think that it's a bit to longer...but...anyways...it was cool to play with :D

Thank you for your comments and your welcom :) I will probably post more detail pics in few days for who wants to make something like that :)

When my brother moves out other than throwing a party and playing GT4 I will be making my own cockpit, so detailed plans would be appreciated. :D

Salut!

For those who speak english i said that's not very difficult to make. I Dont have the plan cause i plan it in my head and built it up step by step.

Just make the "base" first like where you seat gonna go....For me y use 3 bars for more stability. I put a board on that and fix the seat. And for the front of the cockpit....you could see how it's made..it's very easy :)

I link more pics to see in other angle

If you have other question, ask me :)

Awesome job, Alex. I think I'm going to eventually build something like that for GT5 seeing as how there is no room in my dorm. I'm most likely going to try and rig a 20" LCD Widescreen PC monitor (not a cheap piece of equipment) to the frame and try and grab a seat from a Corvette because they are soooo comfortable. Massive props to you for the cockpit, Alex 👍.
