Is there any way I can use my computer LCD monitor to function as a television?

My desk is perfect for attaching a logitech DFP and there's just enough room for PS2 and other stuff. Is there a convertor that allows my LCD monitor to act like a regular television or is this impossible?

ah forget it, lol. That thing costs a pretty penny and I can imagine other models being quite expensive. I can get a playseat or somethin with that money.

oh yea, what am I supposed to do about sound? My monitor does not have speakers. So with that newegg product, I can plug in composite cables from my PS2 to the box and then from the box, a VGA output connecting to my monitor. I'll have to switch around a bit between my PS2 and computer.

how does a TV tuner card work?
You slap it in your computer, install it, then use various programs to run it. Basically, it's like watching video file on your computer, but your watching whatever is hooked up to your PCI Tuner. I have one, works very well.

I was going to recommend one of those, but the bad thign about them is they dont have composite connectors -- I guess this wouldnt be a problem if you had a ps2 to coaxial converter. But then 1080i would be nonexistent.

EDIT: Read more.. They have a converter, nice. But reviews say the quality of the video isnt th ebest, so i dont think 1080i would look that great.

They have composite.

If he wants better quality, he can get a more expensive one. I was simply recommending a cheap one that had decent features.

yea I noticed there was no coaxial. If I had a converter, would it be bad quality like acid X said? Can you link me up with something that has composite connectors? I like to go for simplicity. Anything I watch in my LCD monitor will be 1080i? That sounds very awesome.

Also, I don't live in the US so I don't want to order from them but this kind of video card is something I can find in a Best Buy or something right?

oh yea, about the sound. Would whatever is being played by the monitor just be outputted by the sound card like normal computer applications? I found a Samsung monitor with built in TV tuner but I don't really need a new monitor.

sorry I have some more questions. Ok I found some ATI TV tuner cards, one is external USB (sounds very good) and one is regular PCI. What else can I do with a TV tuner? If I have a cable TV connection nearby then how can I record TV shows on my computer?
