Ok, my first EVER post and new thread. Anyhow, I have been tinkering with this car for a little while. However I can not seem to get it right as I'm no where near as good as tuning as others are on this board.

Show me what you got :)

Oh and, my speedster is fully maxed out with mods. Everything you can possibly buy and the most HP.

Yeah I noticed that. I didn't actually notice it until I was into the race and started to wonder why some of the cars were keeping up....

Then the next race it showed 200 a spec points.

From what I've read elsewhere the key thing to buy on the Opel Speedster is the rollbar, aparently on this particular car it makes a vast difference in the handling and winning the speedster race series is very tough without it.

I've not tried but as I said i have read it numerous times.

EDIT: Of course I've just re-read your post and you o say you have bought every las thing available so I'm all out of answers... :indiff:

I bought everything, and then Soft racing tires, and it was a 170 pt. race. Also the races were all cake... i just did them like five minutes ago. It was pretty tough without soft racing tires, though. Also, I lowered the suspension to 99 Rear and 98 Front, and then hardened the springs, making the front harder than the rear by 1 degree. Downforce was at 15, and after that I was unstoppable.

After reading this thread and noticing "200 A-Spec points" I said to myself "YES! Let’s do this!" Holy crap that's some good competition! This race has probably been the most enjoyable racing I've had in GT4. Anyway the competition is good but not unbeatable.

Call me a glutton for punishment or someone that likes a challenge but I held off on the Stage 3 turbo and stuck with 2, also didn't think about a Roll Cage or Weight Reduction. Other than that I threw everything else on it. It came out to be dead on 315HP with Medium Race tires. With everything still on default I won the 1st race Grand Valley without too much effort (I know that track super well from GT3) but I *DID* have to try, it wasn't a coast-job. Anyway I was very pleased with the competition. 2nd race - OH DAMN these boyz are here to play! Now I had to tune...

N0S = THE KEY! a 65 shot will do for everything except Infineon (for me anyway)

Suspension:
Front Rear
SR 4.2 5.0
RH 100mm 100mm
SB 8 8
SR 8 8
CAM 2.0 2.0
TOE 0 0
STAB 3 4

Transmission:
Auto 7 Final 3.300
5th = 0.970

Brakes: 10/12
Tires: Racing Medium

ASM(Oversteer) 10
ASM(Understeer) 12
TCS 7
======================================

Took me several hours this morning because I REFUSED to use the Stage 3 turbo, Weight Reduction, and Roll Cage. The rolling start races are the WORST. Infineon is the biggest bi*** of them all IMHO. For me the absolute KEY to victory was shots of N0S out of sharp/heavy turns, this car loses major speed in the turns and the N0S really helps to launch this car out of turns. For the life of me I just couldn’t get 1st on Infineon (always 2nd). So I caved in, took a break, and purchased the Stage 3 turbo. Also did an oil change and a car wash just for the hell of it. Car went from 315 to 361 and I won the Infineon on the 1st try (oh, I also pumped the N0S shot to 75)

I'll try the Roll Cage, Wing, and Soft Tires to see how big of an impact it will make. My feeling is that the car with then EASILY dust everyone and ruin a little joy of the circuit.

In closing try out my tranny settings it makes all the difference as far as power. Also brakes and the N0S are critical. I say critical for anyone not using Tires and Roll Cage :) great racing fun!!! 👍

With a stage 2 turbo and soft racing tires you can be very competitve if not able to dominate. Oh yeah and a medium shot of nitros.

Man, I can't thank you enough for those settings. However I already beat this race series with just the stock settings on the maxxed out mods.

Anyhow, I'm going to go back and try these settings. I know the line real well with this car.

Soft tires was the key for me. And forget b-spec on this race. I tried it after I won it all doing a-spec and it whooped my butt on b-spec.

I also noticed that for me to pass in the turns, I had to get ruff with the AI and ram into their car on the inner part of the turn causing the opponent car to drift off into the dirt, sand, grass, whatever :) But then I only did it a few times as I was starting to get annoyed by this race.

Take note.. the NA Opel Speedster is a fast car... less weight, less prone to understeer, and can actually have a better PWR because it can be turboed.

I've done quite a bit of testing on these two cars, as the Speedster was one of my fav cars in GT3.

Also, the competition in this race is using RACE tires. Since no limits are placed on tire selection, this makes a huge difference. I used racing MEDIUMS on a full tune NA Speedster, and was still getting about 170 A-spec points. Full tune includes downforce.

B-Spec can be won easily if you following the above posted suspension settings & change the pace during the races so that you do not run off the track on hairpins & other sharp bends. I managed the gold in all last night on B-Spec with the Turbo Speedster fully spec'd out .
Hard but not impossible.

Yes, I'm going to try those settings and re-race the series. Going to b-spec it. My driver has about 6k b-spec points so he's skilled enough to handle the opel.

I throught hmmm i'll buy a speedster to do the speedster cup and get a nice car, easyyyy.

Then get my ass smoked.

Hopefully these settings will help.

I beat the series without these settings but it wasn't difficult but it was a good race.

I tried out the settings and let me tell you, it was amazing. I can't believe I got 200 a-spec points for that race on those settings.... :)

this car loses major speed in the turns

Your car is losing all that speed in the turns because of the ASM, turn it off, slide the car round the corners a bit and you'll hold onto the speed and more importantly be able to put the power down coming out of the turns

I also was having major problems with this - I have a Speedster Turbo that was UNDRIVABLE after the mods. So I played. And played. And played some more and now I have found a setup that I can never touch again because the thing actually drives like a real car instead of a pig on skates:

Full upgrades from a stock Turbo, except no brake controller or limited slip. NOS set at 65 but that's track dependent (used almost none on Grand Valley, almost all on Autumn Ring). Tranny settings again are track dependent (go into the practice run and find out what you need). Play around.

GET A WING FROM GT AUTO. This made an enormous difference once I set it up right. While you may be tempted to put more downforce on the front to cure that horrible understeer, I found that 10/15 makes it very nice. The car now has drift instead of plough and that's a lot easier to control. Not much drift, either.

Weight reduction stage 1 and the rollcage helped a lot. The loss of torque from the S3 turbo is mitigated by lighter weight this way.

Suspension: this car is incredibly sensitive to the suspension settings, far more than any other car I've got. I'm using almost stock settings:

SR
5.2 6.0

RH
111 111

SB
4 4

SR
8 8

Cam.
2.0 1.0

Toe
0 -1

Stab.
4 4

ASM
10
10
5

I found that the thing was incredibly twitchy in the rear at high speeds (120+). The -1 toe in the rear fixed that in conjunction with actually reducing the downforce in the front. Since the races are short R3 tires will last through the whole thing (I could probably put R4 on the front if I wanted).

I'm not walking away from any races but I was just about 10 sec. ahead on Grand Valley and made up a horrible 4 second deficit at the start of Autumn Ring (thanks to the computer dumping me into the sand during the rolling start) to finish 7 secs. ahead.

It does this in every series that uses the rolling start at Autumn Ring too. I had to use the Cizeta to win the Italian series because of it.

Same Problem, Hate the rolling starts Beacuse of it, Dodge Viper Gts suffers from Banking By the Ai frequently,

But, I was going to ask is there any difference to, The Speedster & The Vx220

There is currently a thread going along in the write ups about head to heads for the same cars, i think that this should be a nomination, make sure u check there , beacuse this may be very helpful to this subject

thanks for the setup mocoman...I have been playing the series since gt1 and I got to the race and Im like is this game serious?...fully moded Turbo Speedster just getting embarassed by a 147hp NA Speedster...crazy...but the setup seems to help alot...2 races into it and havent lost yet. I put a wing on just in case...but havetn needed to use any downforce yet.
This race is about the equivelant to the vitz race I think it was in gt3 in the pro section...I think thats what it was...either way...little hatchback race in teh hardest section...dust off the GT3 and check it out if u never raced it...its a tough one.

Another problem with this speedster race that I noticed when I was getting beat and now that I am doing the beating is that the AI gets alot faster every lap...I was racing on grand valley and had a comfortable 7 second lead half way through the 2nd lap...get the end of the lap and find that my lead is still 7 seconds...took a decent line through all the corners and didnt mess up at all, improved on my lap 1 time of 2:00.8 to 1:56.3 (lap 2), puzzled I tried for an even better 3rd lap, once again no mistakes good lines and took a 1:55.0 lap...at the end I was just 6 seconds and some change ahead...does this make any sense and has anyone else seen this on this or any other race?

That post is a gem and should be sticky :)
It helped me yesterday evening to win at least the Autumn ring reverse in the speedster cup.
I have the NA model . Even if it accepts a turbo ,I always prefer a NA over turbo ( for the same output power ).
I was loosing by about 10 seconds even with the NA stage3 mod.
1) The secret seems to be the use of very racing soft tires ( I was reluctant at first because I was afraid of excessive tire wear ).
2) I included the chassis stiffening mod too but I don't know what the exact influence of it because I added both mods 1 and 2 at the same time.
3) Gearbox tuning is crucial too because it has only 5 gears and I made sure to "flirt with the redline " right at the end of the longest straight ( where the finish line is located )
4) It took me half an hour to get a decent suspension setting but it helped too.

Thanks to all of you who took some of their time to build this thread.

Yeah, I was very skeptical about using the very soft tires. If I remember correctly I had to change the tires for the nurburgring race cuz i raced it on very soft and noticed that my tires were not making it to the end of the race. Even on b-spec when I went back to re-race the series it didn't do so hot.

Yeah, I didn't expect such a good response to this thread and I never realized this series would be one of the harders ones in the game.

Another newbie poster here, but thanks to all I got through this mother and found a few tips of my own to add to the collective knowledge base for the whole game:

#1 - NOS can save your butt. If you have it, you can use it when you need to, like when you get shoved off the track or pick up a penalty at the wrong time. You don't have to use the stuff, but it's the Great Equalizer when the chips are down. Think of it as the Cosworth "Power to Pass" button used in Champ Cars.

#2 - Work your way through the pack and latch onto the leader like you do in the pace car license tests. This guy will show you the fast way around the track, and he usually breaks away from the pack early on. It's like everybody else is there to run interference for him. As you lap with him, look for where your best passing opportunity will be, as close to the start/finish line as possible. Sit on his bumper until the last turn of the last lap if you can wait that long and then get by him any way you can. This is like real racing -- it's hell being in the lead, but #2 is the sweet spot if you've got what it takes to make the pass at the right time.

It felt great to finish the Opel series and win the Calibra -- which was a favorite of mine in GT3 with dirt tires on the rally courses -- but you can't get dirt tires in GT4! Bummed me seriously, but on with the show . . . :)

Thank you guys u saved my life , best thread of the year , i m sure this one will be looked ( huh sorry my english lol ) many times

I was last by 15 seconds even with stage 3 turbo.

With your settings i don t even need NOS , GREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTT

If you don't want to fiddle with settings, though, a quick way of winning this race (Speedster Cup), is to get a N/A Speedster and upgrade to the max (weight reduction, stage 3 turbo, transmission full-customize, etc.); get nitrous, AND, make sure you get "soft" racing tires. These are all sprint races, so even on the four lap races at longer tracks like Grand Valley and Autumn Ring, your tires should be okay and just going yellow on the final lap. If you use the nitrous coming out of several turns and on the straights, you should find yourself with about a 2 to 7 sec. lead on the nearest racer. Glad to be done with this race, finally!

well... i noticed something when i did the speedster cup today...
i checked the preview replay... and it sez that the opponents have 343hp... now... my fully tuned speedster turbo has only 344hp!!!!

thats why its so damned hard! its the same bug as the über-elise of el capitan 200miles...

Need help winning Speedster cup using Speedster Turbo. So Far I won Seattle and Midfield using the same car...I am having trouble with Autumn Ring, Suzuka and Infineon...I have silver on Autumn, and Bronze on Infineon, and nothing for Suzuka.

Much help is appreciated on how to win those races using B-Spec bob, who is 100 AI, 99 course, and 99 battle with 9993 points. Thanks
