Lots of great discussions this week. Some things are going to be changed around here.

First off, there will be no more Div.1,2, and 3 threads. All drivers here are to respect others and at least be courteous to other drivers no matter their skill level. There will be a new "WRS Pit Stop" thread for general chit chat and discussion. There will also be a thread to welcome new drivers and for new drivers to introduce themselves if they wish. Intermingling of conversations will be one less thing to drive people into cliques.

Second, T times posting IS NOT MANDATORY. Some drivers may just run a last minute session, may not feel like logging on all week, may be too busy in real life to log on. Hell some drivers that are just starting out may not want to post splits out of shyness or just plain not knowing anybody. Some people may see 30 T times posted already and think what's one more T time going to matter? Posting of T times is just to spice things up around here and help develop rivalries, so it would be ideal that everyone does it. But this is not going to happen, so deal with it. Bottom line is, if you seriously want to win a division around here, bring your best game each and every time you race. If you lay down your best effort, then who cares if you win or lose. Just like in real life.

Third, starting in week 10, Division 1 will be required to post replays if they particiapte that week. Everyone in D1 is very serious about thier work and there's not really any reason not post thier run out of respect for thier fellow D1 drivers, as well as giving the D2 and D3 drivers with access to replay devices the chance to learn from all of the D1 people. This is also going to snuff out any potential arguments that are bound to happen any week now. Replays for D1 will be required within 3 days of the results going up, unless previous arrangements are made in advance. If you know you're going out of town or won't have access to your PC for a few days, just mention that in your time submission to me so that everyone will know.

Fourth, It is entirely up to me as to who's replays need to be posted in other divisions. Quite often in the past I have asked for replays of D2 and D3 winners, and in 90% of these cases I knew that these drivers had access to a replay device so I had them post thier replays. OG's time was not queried by me this week because for one, I knew he was having a busy week in general, and two, he has 2 years of me personally competing with him on a 100% verified basis so I fully trust that his run was legit. The only times I will request replays from D2 or D3 is if I know the drivers have a replay device, or if thier time is well ahead of the rest of thier division and I want to check it out before promoting them, or if I get complaints of someone's time not being belived by the other drivers. If you have a problem with someone's time, speak up and let me know, and if I agree I'll make sure the time gets investigated.

Fifth, I am going to have discussions with Flat-Out as to whether we are going to continue using this leaderboard format. I have tremondous respect for what Cyril has done and the large amount of effort he puts into the leaderboard each week, but some people just don't get what the WRS is really all about. Hopefully a revamping of this will change some people's views.

As a final note, there is a lot of animosity between a lot of the veterans and a small group of drivers who are new to the WRS. The main point that the veterans (like myself) are not happy about is the way the tone of the WRS has changed since GT4 has come out. PAY ATTENTION HERE: We are not upset that there are new people here with different opinions, or new drivers that are faster than us, etc. What upsets us is the lack of sportsmanship.

Examples of such:
Not having to reimind winning drivers to congratulate others.
Not laughing at slowers driver's times (which has happened)👎
Being accepting of others even when you don't agree with them.
Not bragging about your accomplishments. (Whether it be in your signatures or whatever)

To the Veteran drivers, please be aware that some people that are new here don't think of it as a "sport" since it is on a PC and you are not competing face to face. Please try to consider this when trying to persuade rookies into acting a bit more sportsman like. Bluntly saying that "I've been here XX races and this is how it is" can be taken the wrong way. A little tact goes a long way. If at first someone doesn't take the hint, then perhaps something a bit more blunt is in order.

Disagreements are bound to occur, and that's fine. As long as flame-fests do not erupt, then I am going to interfere as little as possible. I am more of a "hands-off" type of guy, as I expect each of you to carry yourself with some dignity. Just because you have a PC and can log onto GTP does not give you the right to race here. It is a priviledge and I expect you all to treat it as such.

I was contemplating quitting my administrative duties here at the WRS, but I'm going to give it one last shot. If this kind of crap happens again, someone else can have it. Hopefully some of our veterans who have been put off so far will come back when they have some free time and give it one last shot also. Lead by example and show everyone the way things should be! I also hope that some of the new drivers will not see the recent events as standard practice around here, and continue to particiapte. In tiime, the WRS can be a good time for all, and sooner or later we'll all be "Veterans" and have a good laugh.

Responses are welcome in this thread, but be warned: Any out of line garbage and you're going to get a warning from me, and a record of the offence in the Moderator's forum. Three strikes and you're banned from GTP by the way, so use your head and don't get your first warning here.

Later, Todd the WRS Mod.

Good post Todd and completely understandable after yesterdays events 👍

I personally will not erupt on GTP anymore unless I have no other choice!
as for yesterday I can only apologise about my outbursts but I was a timebomb yesterday and would have kept going given half a chance and acted in a pretty childish manner! ..... my aplogies to all involved :)

GTP has been in my eyes "my home forum" for so long and I want to keep it that way 👍

even though I'm done with WRS ... I will still be racing on Databases etc .. Cya's all on a track sometime in the future 👍

Cool man, sorry from my side as well dude. I also agree with your post Tod and will next time rather keep my opinions to myself 👍

Everyone's entitled to post thier opinons. Just think about how you phrase things before hitting enter. I'm not here to tell you how to think.:)

Good post Todd. 👍

I too am sorry for any offense to people i may have caused.

See how the WRS goes and i might not give it the flick after all 👍

That's the problem, I'm straight up, say a thing like it is. I've been around the forums long enough to know what's what. So I'd rather steer clear of anything not related to T times and Final times. Thanks for warning us all, this should get everybody in line again. 👍

On a different note i do hope everybody has learnt from the past few days as some posts had some real good meaning to them (from both sides) even if they were a bit blunt.

Learn from mistakes and WRS will be a happy place.

I like your post and your attitude in general (as I also have previously pointed out).

I like the work, time and thoughts you and other members of this (and other forums) put in, not because of their ego, certainly not for money, but just because they LOVE what they do and what they do for others who share the same enthusiasm! That is one of the main reasons why i decided to join the WRS. It looked like a place where there is a sportsman like conduct, friendly rivalry, a good sense of humour (with people being able to laugh at themselves once in a while)

So, it would be a shame to see people like you being so piXXXd off by others that you decide to quite and leave what you love. Rest assured that there are many, many members out here, veterans and newcomers, who indeed appreciate your efforts and respect your commitment!

I agree with nearly all of the stuff CFM says especially about the tone of the WRS changing since week 1. However, i personally don't think that having a small list of GT accomplishments in your signature is an example of 'lack of sportsmanship.' The only reason i displayed some in mine was because i'd seen alot of other people had done it and figured it'd be the most appropriate thing to display seeing as it is a GT forum afterall. Anyway, i suppose i can see how some people might interpret this as a form of bragging so i've cut mine down to the basics to avoid upsetting anyone.

And finally Todd, i hope you do hang in as the WRS Race Administrator. You do a great job 👍

Ive been away from the forum for a bit, what have i missed, great post tho CFM and I totally agree :)

Thanks, Todd 👍

I really appreciate the effort and patience you've shown in handling the last couple of days. You're a class act and we're lucky to have you.

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone in the 'debate' over the last few days, I've was pretty upset because I've got a real soft spot for the WRS :ouch: But things are certainly looking brighter this afternoon :D

Viva la WRS!

Haven't really tried to get caught up in all this drama myself over the past few days and haven't really been around long enough to voice a well-formed opinion on the matter, so I'd just like to echo STINGER's comments above. Well said.

Creative differences aside, hopefully this blows over quickly and we can all get back to racing and havin' some fun around here.

Great topic there CFM! 👍
If I had mentioned something that you took offense to in any previous post from the last day or so...then my sincerest apologies!

I think the powers that be, including yourself, who not only run GTPlanet.net but the WRS do a kick-a** job and I'd hate to see anyone leave who really didn't want to!

And as for what Z said above about Stingers post...I agree...It was well said!

Later-

Well said,CFM!

.....I also hope that some of the new drivers will not see the recent events as standard practice around here, and continue to particiapte.

I am new to the WRS (this week as a matter of fact),and I just wanted to reassure CFM,and everyone else who has been here the whole time,That I dont plan on letting something like what happened recently, keep me from participating here at WRS.It happens, especially in a competitive sense, just like in real life.
I think that everyone realizes this, and things get heated at times, and probably always will, thats just the nature of this sort of thing. But,as long as everyone remembers that this is supposed to be competitive in a fun way,and remember that we are all here for that same reason....for the love of GT4 and racing in general,it will be fine..it just happens, right?

I am sure that I am not the only noob here that feels this way,but Im not going anywhere because of it.

Just my thoughts....:dopey:

EDIT: ..and btw,CFM..you really should reconsider giving up running WRS,because,It seems that everyone else thinks you do a fantastic job as well, and WRS would probably take a huge loss.

Nicely put 👍

Quick question: I've only been in the WRS for 2 (3) weeks now, and I saw most other folks putting basic tracking in their sigs so I figured this was the norm. Sorry if anyone interpreted this as bragging, it wasn't intended as such, it was simply meant to convey my progress to everyone else who did the same. CFM, are you saying you'd prefer it if we removed this info? Perhaps you're referring to some more elaborate sigs I haven't seen, or does mine qualify?

It's fine.

Overall comment : 👍 👍 👍

To go into more detail, it's true that we still haven't managed to recreate the atmosphere of fair-play (if not friendship) that we experienced with the GT3 WRS. Nobody's fault in particular ; simply many new racers joining and many old racers not as involved as they used to be. Everything will settle down in the end... But when will this end be reached ?

As for the board, I too consider it as part of the "problem", if there is a problem. It's deceptive in the way that many new racers' main goal is to move up a few ranks and score a few points each week. That's the kind of reason why I liked it 'unofficial' as I called it initially.
I updated it later than usual last week partly for that (and partly because I worked 14 hours a day every day), and I find that unsticking it was a good idea.
I know that everybody appreciates the time I put in this, but I'm ready to stop this if you (Todd) think it would help to recreate the atmosphere I mentioned above. Of course many people (Todd and me first) would regret this, but if it has to be done, then let's do it. Let's switch to PMs when you want to discuss this issue Todd.

I hope I can buy a new PS2 soon, so that I can join and show my craptastic driving skills on the track.
:D

:D

Just thought I would sound off on this for a sec,if I may.
Being a brand-new driver here,I agree with you completely on this, that is the main reason I came to join the WRS,because at first glance, it seemed just like that sort of atmoshpere you mentioned.
Im not saying that I was wrong in my assumption, but apparently, from the way others who have been around and involved in the WRS for some time have been talking...it has changed.
Me,myself I dont necessarily see that because I havent been around to see that happen.
I wanted to say this though,I came here to have fun,not just to compete for 'blood and guts' as you could say,but just for the fun of racing in general, and to form a 'family' or 'friendship' with people who share these same views.
I know that some of the drivers are in it purely for the standpoint of just gaining points and so forth, and moving up the board, and rightly so,because there are alot of FAST drivers on here.I dont think that its necessarily because they want to be 'better than anyone else', but it just adds a little more spice to a game that can get a little stale just playing it alone, and in turn it makes it more fun for everyone,so in the end,we are all in the same community,if you will.

I am assuming that is what you meant by this, and if I am way off here, then I apologize.Just wanted to give you a point of view from a nOOb !:)

And yes, you are right flat-out, we DO all appreciate the effort you put into the board. And CFM, what can I say...you're the man!!
 ....... to the both of you, and everyone else behind WRS.

I, for one, would be greatly disappointing if either leaderboard was suddenly discontinued. I like to see how I stack up against the numerous friends I have made :)

I am having a blast here, I like the social atmosphere. It's friendly enough but has a bit of an edge sometimes :)

Another one to say Well said CFM....

Ive been here awhile since the Gt3 Wrs, never really posted much, too busy reading threads.
This is how i see the gt4 wrs series, and i hate to compare it to the Gt3 series but i have to.
Playing in the Gt3 series was fun, yeh there were a few flaming sessions, but your gonna get that with all the keyboard warriors out there. It was still a challenge, more so a friendly challenge and a personal challenge for everyone racing to better their times through each race, and respect was given to all drivers no matter what division you were in.

Gt4 WRS seems like a statistical race, complaints about the Combo's, tit for tat convo's. Full credit to Flat out and luxy(i think) For their leaderboards, but personally i dont see the need for it. Do you win a prize for being first? NO. Do you gain respect? No.
However i dont care either way if it stays or goes, im here to race.

As many have said we are here for fun, we wouldnt be here if we didnt love the GT empire. And if it wasnt for Boom , Kent , and CFM there wouldnt be a WRS.
