This year seems to be crazy as hell in my family for new computer equipment as well as print machines at the family business. I've gotten my pc up and running for a few weeks now but I never really said much about it since I still haven't *completed* the project.

My bro also decided that the graphics workstation at his office was finally out of date and I finished building his machine today. At the same time, this will free up a pair of 400mhz Pentium II machines that have been sitting there catching dust. I'm thinking of getting my hands on a dual processor board and making a HTPC out of those. I figure a combined total of 800mhz and a gig of ram should be workable for that purpose.

My old pc (aka - the pc my sister stole from me last year) will be put into my sister's room - that means a new wireless card, LCD monitor, and *possibly* a new video card to handle the higher resolution

Last but not least, my laptop will be getting replaced in September by a much, MUCH better model.

My desktop
Athlon64 3500+
1gb ddr ram
MSI k8n Neo4 Platinum
Radeon x800xl
2x200gb Seagate 7200.8 hard drives
16x LG Super Multi (dual layer burner)
450w OCZ Modstream PSU
Thermaltake Tsunami case which will be modded for more silent cooling (dynamat)
Hyundai L90D+ monitor

-- Grand total of somewhere between $2000 and 2400 canadian after taxes. I still need to replace all the stock fans with quieter alternatives, I need better speakers, and I'm thinking of water cooling it.

My bro's workstation (used primarily for photoshop/corel draw/quark and other 2d graphics apps):
Athlon64 X2 4200+
(dual core baby!!!)
1gb ddr ram
MSI k8n Neo4 Platinum
Gigabyte 6600GT
2x200gb Maxtor hard drives with 16mb cache
16x dual layer Pioneer burner
Antec Sonata II w/450w psu (VERY silent and runs surprisingly cold)

-All of this can be yours for the surprisingly low price of $1900 CND after the standard 15% sales tax

My upcoming laptop (copy and paste from my school's website):
• IBM ThinkPad T42
• Processor Speed: 1.8 GHz Pentium M 2MB L2 cache
• Monitor: 14.1" XGA Colour Screen (1024X768)
• 512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
• Graphics Subsystem: ATI Radeon 7500 AGP, 32Mbytes Video RAM :yuck:
• 16 Bit Audio
• PCMCIA supports 2 Type I/II or 1 Type III
• 60 GByte 5400RPM Hard Disk Drive
• CD/RW DVD-ROM combo
• Integrated 802.11a/b/g Wireless Network Capability
• Integrated 1Gbit Ethernet port
• Integrated V.92 Capable modem
• AC Power Adapter
• Li-Ion Battery rated at 5 hours in normal operating mode

Mine for the low, low fee of $1400 per year for the next 2 years after which it goes right back to the school :irked:
