Luxembourg - The Official Thread *READ THIS*

This thread is for discussion on any topic relating to Luxembourg and it's foreign policies. Use this to criticize or support Luxembourg leadership, Luxembourg policy and Luxembourg action.

Rule #1 - You WILL NOT violate the AUP. No swearing, no personal attacks, no broad sweeping generalizations about Luxembourgians, Arabs, Muslims, Christians or any group. It will not be tolerated and offenders will be warned. Repeat offenders will be subject to administrative discipline up to and including banning.

Rule #2 - You WILL NOT post anything that even remotely suggests that people -especially civilians, regardless of nationality, race or religion should be injured or killed. Your post will be modified to remove the offending remark and you will be warned, plain and simple.

If things get out of hand in this thread, it will not be locked. Instead, the offenders will be warned and if they continue to violate the rules, be banned.

Highly recommended: Make whatever point you wish, but be prepared to support your argument with facts.

Highly recommended: READ the thread before you post. Chances are excellent it's been covered before.

Highly recommended: Be polite. Political discussion is often highly charged and personal attacks are always a danger. It is not against the AUP to be rude to someone or even critisize them, but if you cross that line you should be ready for the consequences.

So lets get the discussion started about this country... what is your opinion about Luxembourg? What do you think about Luxembourg's aggressive foreign politics? What part of the country amazes you the most?

I personally love the country even though I never visited it, it is the only surrounding country that never ever beat my own national soccer team!

:D

Why have you copied the first post from the America thread and changed it to Luxembourg?

I've actually never given Luxembourg much thought... I wonder what it's like in Luxembourg and what Luxemburgers taste like....

I believe it's what's known as a 'parody'. If the tone stays light, all is well. But if it turns into a thinly-veiled attack thread, it will be closed, and the poster will be directed to the Site Feedback board.

I just thought it would be funny what the defensive stance put in the America thread would look like when implemented in a thread about a country which absolutely never makes the news anywhere in the world. I bet they don't even have news about their own country in Luxembourg. :D

The "America" thread is not put there because Americans are defensive. It's put there because it eliminates the dozens of redundant threads that would otherwise be started on the subject.

If so many people didn't feel the need to belabor America ad nauseum there would be no need for a sticky thread on the subject.

Well, I have to admit that it was probably a good idea to create that thread, since the USA is very controversial ever since King Bush the 2nd was crowned and lost his communication skills.

By the way, you can lock this without causing any hard feelings because I don't really care about Luxembourg at all. :D

I am angry at Luxembourg! In 1997 and 1998, someone shovelled millions into Bernie's pocket to have a Luxembourg Grand Prix at the Nurburgring WHICH IS IN GERMANY! I think it is clear that this was the early stages of an attempt by the Luxembourg elite to take over the world. Why does this not get any press?

I love how you post those rules in the first post and make a comment like that.

Did you guys know the capital of Luxembourg is in fact 'Luxembourg'! WOW! These Luxembourians sure are an inventive bunch!

Another interesting fact is that Luxembourg possesses the highest GDP per capita in the world ($77,595 as of 2005). I really don't know what that means, but it's the HIGHEST IN THE WORLD! WOW!

In 1979 Luxembourg abolished the death penalty for all crimes...Maybe a few other countries could learn a bit from little LuckyBurger

I always thought Luxemborg was a stinky cheese . Or a place money goes to hide . Other than that the Germans seem to pass through alot for vacation and invasions . So why do we need a trivia queation any way ?

I've been to Luxembourg, it's a not a bad place to drive through, I drove through a lot of Europe around this time last year. Thoes were the days when I had a SEAT Ibiza before dumping it in Spain with smoke bellowing from under the bonnet and getting a plane home . I wonder if it's still where I left it... Minus the wheels. No hang on, Spains not Liverpool, the wheels could still be there.

Well, Luxembourg is clearly not an industrialized powerhouse nation like San Marino* and Monaco, since even they hold Grands Prix in their nations. There's also been races in the nations of Detroit, Phoenix, and Europe!

Luxembourg might as well cease to exist as a nation, lay down it's arms, and allow Germany and France to fight** over it in the boxing ring, like United States and C.C.C.P. did for the rights to the Nation of Sylvester Stallone. We'll call it World War III, the Rumble in the Mumble!

* Grand Prix of San Marino may be held in a country near or in Italy, at nation's request. No purchase necessary. Must be in Italy to win.

** Or they could race at San Marino at or near a suitable Italian venue. That's better.
