Enthusia Club: Online Racing

It's really too bad that Enthusia doesn't have online racing, and our (people who visits this forum) talent (which I don't have) go wasted because of it. :ill:

So I thought that we should get together a club. We could race on similar simulators that have online capacities, such as LFS, until a sequel of Enthusia comes out. What do you think?:dopey:

I bought LFS and a DFP for the game and after a while, i just dont see it as a sim, its too slidey, way too much oversteer, but i wouldnt mind playing.

I would argue against sicbeing's claim that LFS isn't a sim, but that would ruin the point of this thread, so I'll keep it on topic. :)

LFS racing sounds like an excellent idea to me. I'd love to race with some people I know, for once. The only people I've really become friends with online in LFS are drifters.

Who among us has the fastest connection? I can host with my PC and play at the same time, but I can only support 4-6 people....or should we invade one of the dedicated servers that's always online?

I wouldnt mind either way, but i dont mind derailing this topic just for a second to talk about LFS.

I exagerate when i saw LFS isnt a sim, it's really fun at some points, but it seems no matter what i do, i cannot keep a car under control very well, especially when it comes to oversteer, i seem to be able to throw my front end into the corners way too easy and my back end swings out uncontrollably. What should I do?

sicbeing, I've sent you a PM on the subject. As much as I enjoy off-topic discussions that evolve out of threads (and dislike it when people complain about them), I don't think this one needs to end up here. :)

Sicbeing: You might want to fiddle with the settings with your car, you know, negative cambers in the back might help.

On topic: I have cable, so in other word slow. Wolf I think 4-6 people are enough. I can play through Easter week.

Let's do XFG only for a few races because not all of us have s2 licenced (including me), Blackwood GP Normal.

Let's post our tags also

Dragon
Plate: Amontillado

Online on Easter week!

No matter what people think, Enthusia is unique.

I havent really dabbled with online much, is there a way to search by player?

Maybe we should set up a specific time to play, by server, so we arent all on at diff times

That's the problem -- only licensed players can search each other. So, we should set up some sort of meeting time. Maybe this weekend, if GarouGT wants more time to figure LFS out. ;)

I've only quickly browsed the LFS website so excuse the dumb question. Is there a free version of LFS? From what I saw you have to buy it. But from you guys talking about being "licensed" i'm kind of thinking there is a free version too...?

You can play the demo for free, but if you pay £24, which is about $40 or so, you can get S2, which is the "licensed" (aka full) version of the game and features many more cars, and several more tracks. A third version, S3, will come out sometime in the future, and will cost £36 (or £12 for S2 licensees, or £24 for S1 licensees...I think you see the pattern). S3 will add even more cars, tracks, and features.

According to the official site, buying a license can be done via "credit card (VISA, Mastercard and UK debit cards), Paypal, Moneybookers, UK Cheques and Money Orders."

Online multiplayer is free.

In the multiplayer options, S1 and S2 racers have the choice to venture into the demo servers.

It's funny, because if you do so, the game basically warns you that you might be racing with rowdy, rough, uncivilized and unskilled drivers, because they haven't spent money on the game...

EDIT: Whoops, Wolfe explained the demo bit while I was writing my uberpost.

I DL'd LFS a couple weeks ago and played some. Gawd I hate Windows! Took me an hour to conclude that it is impossible to make Logitech wheel settings stick in a non-admin account. :grumpy: :yuck:

But on the bright side, the game was quite impressive. And I really enjoyed it the first time I flipped a car completely over! Took me back to the good old days of Hard Drivin' in the arcades... :)

BTW, for anyone setting up DFP the first time on their PC.
[1] Go download Logitech wheel drivers, I think you can pick any wheel in their list basically to get the right DL since DFP isn't listed specifically.
[2] Install in an admin account and then open the config window.
[3] Set the wheel settings to 720 degrees of rotation, and zero out the spring-back and such (but not the feedback strength!).
[4] Still in an admin account, launch LFS and set the wheel settings to 720 and you should be good to go. 👍

(The setup information can be found in the LFS forums by doing a search for DFP configuration, IIRC.)

I may try and drop by too, if I get the time/energy to untangle the DFP cords from the PS2 and haul them into the office by the PC box. Make plans without me though; it looks to be a busy week so its not worth me trying to guarantee I can show up at any given time.

Are you sure you didn't mean to write "720 degrees?" That's the lock of most of the street cars in the game. :)

I think we should meet on demo servers because, like I said before, not everyone has S2 licenced.

Let's determine the server name and password right now so we can search by server. Wolf why don't you do the honor since you will be the host?

I suppose I should just call it "Enthusia Club" or "EPRC Server"...but when shall we all meet up? I can play late tonight (around midnight to 3am or so) if anyone's interested.

Holy crap lol, i have to work 9am-5pm on weekdays, no way i can stay up that late. I can play anywhere from 6:30/7pmEST - 11pm/12amMidnight EST, but dont wait up for me if im the only party pooper who cant play latenight->morning.

I can play right now until midnight, and anytime on weekends. Im not in school or anything so i dont get easter break, im not even sure what that is.

Whenever anyone's hosting, post the server name, password and time duration on this thread so we would know when races are on.

Can someone post their cfg for me? I'd like one that's optimized for use with a DFP since I seem to just screw the cfg up worse when I try. Plus LFS wouldn't recognize my pedals in when I was trying to set them for accel/brake. :ouch:
