Since there hasn't been nearly enough judges applying, I have moved this thread to the main GT4 forum for more viewers, and therefore hopefully more judge applications.

Ok, what's this about?

I need 3 or 4 judges each week, to rank each set-up on Handling, Acceleration, Braking, Car Balance (the overall feel of the car, if it has a "secure" feeling, if it bounces around, pretty much your overall happiness with the set-up), etc. :)

What will I have to do?

There will be a number of set-ups each week, that will be customized for a certain car and track (I'm thinking about at the very most, 8 set-ups each week). You will need to rank with designated rankings, each on a 1-10 scale. If you have any more ideas for what to rank, etc, discuss it here or PM me. Each set-up should take about 10-15 minutes to race around, so it should be relatively quick to get through. 👍

For fairness, the judges cannot submit a set-up for the week, so no one will rank their own set-up, and thus possibly rank theirs higher than normal.

Do I have to do this every single week?

You can try it out for a week if you want, so you won't be locked into it. I will be recruiting each week, unless all 3 judges want to judge the next round.

The attachment below is the ranking sheet for the judges.

 That says it all.

Ciao...
I said that so judges won't rank someone else's settings higher, since they like them or whatever. Or they're just plain dumb, and don't know how to do squat. So, pretty much, if you're trustworthy, you're good.

I'll be a judge.
Ok, your in.

Duck,

I would be very interested in acting as a judge for your competition, will drop you a pm with some details.

regards

David

i have one remark on this.

as we're not machines it's largely about personal preferences and styles, so how about requiring the judges to submit a short (1-2 paragraph) description of their own driving preferences and styles the way they assess it themselves?

point being, a mark and a assessment by a judge of a given setup has little significance to me unless i'm able to translate his judgement to my own metrics. i need to know how the guy drives, what is his technique.

👍 Exactly what I did in PMing Duck earlier.

Your right about everyones style being different, that said, a certain car will require setting up a certain way in order to obtain the best from it (from there fine tuning to suit personal preference is then possible) so I see this as an exercise in finding the right type of setup for any given car to achieve its best.

An assessment from a judge stating that a setup is good will let you know that it could well be a very good base line to work from, it at that stage doesnt really matter how the judge drives, its about the car being inherently "right".

I'm working away from home until the 7th June, but would be more than happy to submit my name for a judges position.

*raises hand*

I'd love to be a judge, I've always liked testing out people's settings and evaluating them, and this would be a good excuse for me to do it more often! (Like I need an excuse... :P)
If you're interested by my application, I could even be persuaded to do it every week :) 👍

Ok, FireEmblem62, Dave_George, Scaff, and Dark Elite (yes, that's 4, I know), you're all judges. I'll PM each of you for suggestions for what to rank, and how. And the car/track combo. :)

Were have the former judges gone too?? I might be able to squeeze this in,, MIGHT,, cause the WC is of course busy and I have to go too school,, And the thing that would bother me is not posting my own setting,, But I would liek to be a judge though:)

If possible, I'd like to carry on. Just getting my word in quickly, despite not having actually tested the current settings yet, but if you'll keep me aboard I'd love to keep going with this! 👍

DE

@ De@tthwi§ho0 - I think it would be best for you to just submit your own settings, since you're real busy, and I don't want being a judge interfere with real life studies and all. I'll keep you on hold. :)

@ Dark Elite - Ok, you can be one (again :D)

I'll be a judge because:

I've completed GT4 and now all I'm doing is tuning and testing cars, I love doing it, and comparing settings, I'd like to be a judge lots and lots :).

Thanks.
George

Should see no problem carrying this on Duck assuming its a long term thing, am working on this weeks submissions now, interesting diversity!

Im away from next week tuesday for two weeks so count me out of those two, after that give me a shout mate.

David

People that have been judges should let other people have a go, otherwise thats unfair :(

They were picked in the first place,, so why would that be unfair? Doesn't make sense to me,, I would rather see the same judges evry week,, than every week other judges.. But I can fit it in,, so I would like to be a judge,, Completed GT4 a lont time ago,, and I have been busy with settings since then:)

GeorgeMorley and Dark Elite will become judges for Week 2, and if De@tthwi§ho0 will have time for it, he can do it too.

@ noobie 4 ever - I'm sorry, but I will have to deny your offer, just for the fact you are new, but I invite you to participate in the comp, and submit some settings. 👍

Ok then I'll new to buy all the mods for my Tuscan.

*looks in empty wallet*

Why did I buy that Ford Falcon Race Car?
Don't worry, I'll judge :)

I agree with that one (Although, I would say that, wouldn't I?), purely because I think the competition would work well with familiar judges and so on, but that's just my opinion. :)

I agree aswell but just people eager to judge (like me I suppose) should get a chance, even if it's just a week or so, I know I'll want to be a judge for ages anyway. (doubt I will be)

From my point of view it'll be nice to have a degree of consistency - but at the same time I'd quite like to have a go at judging at some point too. Depending on the number of people willing to be permanent judges, we could have a slot or two open each week, with 2 or 3 (or however it pans out with availability) permanent judges.

Just thought I'd throw the suggestion out there, I guess it'll probably sort itself out as we go really :)
