My NEW Taurus SHO

Pictures are from the previous owner and I don't have a digital camera yet, so... only difference is, these pics have on the original NJ plates, my car [obviously] has NY plates & reg.

That's a really nice car Brian. Nicely kept as well. Did Doug already insult you for buying a Ford?

Fough SHO!

I admit to always wanting one, even though it wasn't stick.

Thanks everyone!

@Condraz23: That's correct. 1994.

@Diego440: He hasn't, but I eagerly await his response.

@Pupik: That's cool. This is my first stick car, so it's taken some getting used to.

@Carl.: Oh yeah! :D

@High-Test: Excellent question... it was having "some" problems. Some were my fault, but the majority of the them were carried over from the previous owner. The main issue was a mysterious intermittent stalling problem that was misdiagnosed several times. Sometimes it would shut down suddenly (electrical?), other times it would bog and then shut down (fuel?)... and I couldn't pinpoint the problem. After a while, I decided to get another car (something that was non-turbo and had a manual transmission) and after extensive research and a few test drives, I settled on the SHO. Currently, the 'brick is sitting at my dad's job (along with a few other abandoned cars w/o plates).

Nice, loved the SHO's especially the early gen ones. Yamaha V6 right? If I ever get an SHO I'd get a plate that says "FO SHO" for the hell of it!

Thank you! And yes, this generation does have the same Yamaha V6 as the early gen ones. SHOs in good condition can be had for (comparatively) very little money.

That sounds like what's got my lexus down right now.. Maybe something was fried in the Brick's wiring harness, and there's a melted or shorted circuit.

That's the only thing I didn't check. These cars are known to fry wiring harnesses because they were made of a biodegradable material.

I bought a wiring harness for the "Battlewagon", but I don't yet have the time or everyhting else I need. (Battery terminals, manual, battery cables, etc..)

I hope you find out what's wrong with it.

That car hauled major ass, although I'm confused why the automatic transmission was shifting like a stick shift. And congrats on getting the SHO! :) Now you'll get to enjoy the wonders of owning another Ford..........

Thanks, I haven't given up on it yet... but still need to take care of some things with the SHO first (tires, inspection, alignment etc.)

It is a stick-shift (5-speed). :) My Turbo Coupe had an automatic.

And congrats on getting the SHO! Now you'll get to enjoy the wonders of owning another Ford..........

Thank you!

Pretty cool ride. 👍

Always been a fan of the SHO as its a wolf in sheeps clothing and makes a great sleeper if you can some how cover the "SHO" in the bumper. Whats the specs for the Taurus SHO anyways?

Doug will never insult you for buying a Taurus. He thinks Taurus is the greatest midsize sedan ever built.

Congratulations on your new SHO, Brian. Hopefully, you won't be needing too many parts for it. They can be very hard to find. :D

Too bad about the Volvo, I'm quite interested in turbo Volvo's. Good luck with the SHO. :)

That Conan video is classic. :lol:

Thanks again everyone for your replies! :) Much appreciated.

@Vonie: That's cool. They're great cars...

@VIPERGTSR01: I'm glad you liked the video. Hilarious! The 'brick served it's purpose, though: 1. to end the withdrawls from not having a turbo for 4 months after the T-Bird Turbo's engine blew. 2. to get me from "a" to "b" If I get another turbo car, it has to be T-Bird Turbo Coupe. The Volvo was fun, but they're everywhere... there were at least 3 (2 non-turbo, 1 turbo) at my college campus parking lot last semester. Turbo Coupes & SHOs are rare (although if I could, I'd have them ALL!!!).

@a6m5: I agree with Doug. :sly: Thanks again, but as far as parts are concerned, I knew what I was getting into. The next two paychecks are reserved for preventative maintenence items (despite the fact that the major 60k mile service was completed ~20k miles ago).

@SRV2LOW4ME: Covering up the SHO bumper would be cool, but most people look at it and think it's a regular Taurus anyway. Only car guys like us know what this car is really capable of. :)

Specs are for 89-95 manual transmission models:

3.0-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 (w/ dual-stage intake a.k.a. IMRC)
220 hp @ 6,200 rpm
200 lb./ft. @ 4,800 rpm
0-60 (published figures): 6.4-6.8 seconds
1/4 mile (published figures): 15.0-15.53 @ 92.5-96.5mph
1/4 mile (Internet-searched timeslips): 14.66-15.498 @ 91.98-97.73
Curb weight: 3,300lbs-3,425lbs (depending on year)
Most factory/mildly-modded SHOs (MTX) dyno about 185-205 hp at the front wheels. Plot 1, Plot 2

(all figures for all-stock, factory cars... no modifications)

*edit*

RVDNuT374, if you thought the T-Bird Turbo hauled ass, check these out!

Thanks, Nate! Actually, I found the car here. Some of these SHOs can be had for very little money and in decent condition. The ad that I bought the car from is still listed (2006-04-23). And you're right about this year being a rarity. For 1994, only 2,497 (1995... 2,036!) were made with manual transmissions.
