pull a wheelie w/the escudo at 225mph

How is this tuning or settings? You're just stating that you can do "x" - without providing any settings or, significantly, any pictures to prove it.

Caution: Extreme Rant Mode. Comments made here are not specifically aimed at this threads originator but are the result of years of accumulated minor irritations (and,as ever when I get like this, some rather splendid Wolf Blass (hic) :embarrassed:).

I'm so tempted to post something blunt and scathing here that it makes me take a step back for a moment to contemplate what on earth GTP has devolved into over the past five years.

I want to make clear, I hold it to be no fault of the Founder or the Moderators (nods of appreciation to all splendid fellows concerned) or those serious contributors who still post here (you know who you are, I'm not going to embarass you by naming names). It is merely the fact that the site has become a victim of it's own success and is the first port of call for anyone with a PS2, the ability to hit a keyboard with fingers and an internet connection.

For every post or thread where there is a shred of interest in the subject matter of the game there are a myriad of similar ilk to this one which merely serve to show the gulf between 'gaming' and 'driving'.

It's a waste of my life and my bandwidth to read it and I'm struck with the question of why I still click the links... ah well, habits die hard I suppose.

From now on, I'll stick to the private fora where at least I don't have to look at such drivel anymore.

To emphasise, I mean no direct insult to any one person in particular but it's obvious that the 'GTA/Ridge Racer n' crowd have taken over the 'GTn' crowd and any pretence that 'orthodox' racing 'simulation' is discussed any longer has vanished. A shame.

I guess I'm saying "Farewell and adieu" to a 'public' prescence here.

Of course, if anyone has a serious question (that a search doesn't answer) about how suspensions work and what compromises you have to make to get the 'game' under-pinnings to work something like the real-world ones, then I'm perfectly willing to respond to PM's (however, I reckon the 'stickies' cover all that well enough these days).

So, it's "Goodnight from him ..."

Although I'm sorry to see you 'go', I sympathise entirely. I suppose the only reason I can still go through threads like this one is that, being a member two years junior to yourself, I've only seen them a dozen times before rather than hundreds. I hope your expertise isn't wasted as you become a 'backstage' contributor.

And, may Ronnie Barker rest in peace
