I really like flight sims/games. One of my favorites of all time was from years ago for the Mac, called F/A-18, but for consoles the only flight sim style game I like is the Ace Combat series for the PS2.

I saw this title, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, and from its description it looks very promising, especially the idea of playing with up to 16 online players at one time, and with the option of working together in squadrons as well as one on one dogfighting.

If anyone has picked this up yet, please share with us your thoughts on the game. Thanks!

Thanks for the heads-up from both.

I'm curious though, would the recommendation change if I was only really interested in dog fighting with online players, and not the "mission" gameplay?

The few reviews I read it seems most of the complaints are directed towards the "story" and missions, and not much detail even being written about the quality of the online dogfighting.

I'd really appreciate hearing some detailed assements on the online play.

Thanks!

I think the gameplay in general is really bland. I haven't played online with it (since there isn't an online demo), but I really can't imagine it being very fun. I wouldn't fork out $60 just to play online in it. I'd still just rent it first. If you like the online, then you can buy the game or whatever.

It's cool to get a sense for the motion control, but it controls just like the planes of that era, slow and sluggish (though this is intentional, and not hte fault of the controller, as it's the same via analog sticks...it just "feels" more pronounced with the motion control).
