problem progressing to extreme events

I am new member so i hope this is posted in the right place.
I've got a really frustrating problem with the Gran Turismo World Championship race series in the Professional events. When i compete in the championship series of races i can progress from each race to the next and can complete the whole ten races and be credited with the podium placings and the prize money for each individual race. HOWEVER, after the last race i dont get any championship prize money, any podium placing or any prize car (if i come first). my only options at the foot of the screen at this point are
1.replay
2.save replay
3.options screen
4.exit

I can never get my championship placing acknowledged which means I cant progress to Extreme events because I havent completed all the Beginner and Professional events. This is really annoying me

Any advice how to solve this.

You must do it as a series, by selecting the silver GT shield before the races list. You seem to be doing the events individually.

Just to make sure: you are driving this as a series, and not each race individually, right?

Be prepared for the chastisement of The Lord Overseer Famine! This question maybe found in the FAQ section. I too have made the same mistep in some of my earlier posts, and have been informed, that this type of question is best answered elsewhere.
But if I am to understand your question, are you entering each race individually, or are entering the series? The first Icon in any series is where you enter. You then progress in each race accumulating for each one until the series is done. If you have the most points you are then awarded the championship purse.

You guys are quick !
Yes, I am competing in the races as part of the championship series by clicking on the sheild at the beginning. I've not had a similar problem with any other championship series. Even though i can come second or third in the championship in one or two races I come lower than 3rd place. is there some minimum placing requirement ?

Someone referred finding answers to this question elsewhere. Where exactly should I look ?

No, there isn't, at least not to win the championship. For that, you have to have the highest number of total points after the last race. To advance to the extreme events later on, you must have won each race though, so you should probably try that anyway. Still, you should get at least the prize money and car when you win the championship, and I'm afraid I don't know what the problem is. Could be a glitch in the game, some people have stumbled over several small problems. That's pretty unlikely though. My hint is to win all the races, maybe it'll work then.

EDIT: nice to see that you're using proper language by the way, the majority of new people I see use txt spk.

You must get first in the championship, and then if there are any races you didn't come first in, you must beat those individually.

Is this correct ?

You need to place first in the series, to win it (Gold medal). You need not win each of the series races to win the series.

However, to advance to the next stage, each of the races must be gold.

In the NTSC version at least, you don't have to win each race to access the Extreme Hall, only the championship.
