:: GT4 WRS Week 110 ::

A change from what I had planned this week because I don't think you'll cope well with a snow combo so soon after the soaking you got at Tsukuba. ;) This week we will be running the Nurb in the Amuse S2000 GT1 '04. I hope you like it :)

Race Details:
  • Mode: Arcade Mode > Time Trial > World Circuits
  • Track: Nurburgring Nordschleife
  • Make: Japan > Amuse
  • Model: S2000 GT1 '04
Vehicle Specifics:
  • Power: (+20%) 602hp
  • Weight: Any
  • Driving Aids: Any
  • Top Speed: N/A
  • Transmission: Any

Week 110 Race Specifics:

Just have fun and we'll deal with any problems as they come along. :)

  • rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • no hybrids
  • no cheating of any kind
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • save your replay ('Save Replay' icon)
Thread rules:
The following info cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on MSN or via other private conversation methods):

  • deadline is Tuesday 5th June 6pm GMT
  • if you are unsure of the deadline try this site
Time verification:
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted:
  • all gold times each week will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • when a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide a replay before the next race deadline
  • failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from WRS results
  • video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified

Count me in. :sly:
Looks like amazing fun and will be starting on laps today. :D
Love the choice of S2s and not S3s. Also love the fact that you've avoided using a setup similar to the existing Ring spot race here in the GTP's Spot race forums.

Back when I've got a time to show. Until then,

Great combo, looking forward to this. Hopefully I don't spend as much time as I did last week, lots of room for error here.

Thanks. :)

You mean this spot race?
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=91651

If you do, then comparing the results of this combo to that spot race might be interesting. :sly:

Here i go again, albeit with less weight, more grunt, and a lot less grip to what ive been doin all weekend in the aforementioned spotty.

Im assuming that people will be running with -10% weight seeing as you've given them the option Sphinx?

That makes for one slippery machine...

Good Luck to all
:irked:👍

Looks like you've been having quite a bit of success over there! :scared:

The obvious option would be -10% if you're chasing for a top time in any given division, but some may like to add a bit more weight to the car for a more enjoyable run out. 👍

well you prolly all know how i feel about nurbie ... so no sub for me this week, but i will be doing your short and long-term leaderboard churns.

taraa! :nervous: but still :) as always i hope

Im sure there's a routine for this situation, but it's been so long i dont know what it is anymore, so i'll ask.....

Which T's will anyone be quoting?

Its always a good idea to use the ones you can look at without having to take a corner at the same time, so which ones would people suggest?

I would say T's 2 or 4, 6 and 10, as they dont come up just when you need to be looking ahead, with the exception of 6, which is a mite close to the right hander at Steilstrecke.

However some might suggest that 10 is too late a T to use in a lap as it can give a very good indication of final lap time, which of course, is NOT to be discussed.
Sphinx?

Just to VEX the thread even further, there may be a small advantage to drivers using DFP's this week, as its a lot easier to balance the throttle so it doesnt rev-limit on the straight with a pedal as opposed to an analogue stick/D-pad button, thus giving you a better lap time.
Discuss.

:mischievous:👍

I'm not worried about any advantage that may or may not exist... Plus, I can balance that X button pretty well. ;)

About the Normal T Times though, I think they are 3, 6, and 9.
Not sure though so don't quote me. :dunce:
Good luck on the laps everyone, I'm about to start racing and will come back with my first session results. :D

Pure brilliant madness! Thank goodness this car has a widebody with wide tires tucked underneath and some downforce... Otherwise it'd be undriveable with anywhere near this much power on SM tires! Works out perfectly though in this combo, controllable, don't NEED the TCS on, can hang the tail out and still be able to get it tucked back in when wanted... Having a blast.

Will be back later with some splits.

I think the 4-6-10 is fine, the last sector always has some suprises in hand so I think it's good enough, but who knows. Maybe 4-6-9. The earlier the first T time we use is, the more false hope it gives, haha. I do believe we've been using 3-6-9, but keeping them out of corners is a VERY good idea, IMO.

Who knows, putting the T times to use in the corners might make us less likely to look during the race and inturn we may avoid messing up a good lap (as it is, it seems like I can always mess up a sure thing the instant I see I've got something good going ;) ).

Exactly!
count me in, just hve 2 hope the track and car loads:crazy: i think it will
Sweet!(to the counting you in part...)

Just was sooooo close to having a clean lap... Argh!

EDIT:
Got one!!!
T3: 1'40.680(I always look at this one regardless, so...)
T6: 3'28.488
T9: 5'18.233(dunno if we'll use this number or not, but here it is anyway)
T10: 5'58.889

Twas a decent lap, with a couple spots of conservative driving to stay on the track... I'll be looking for between 3-5 more seconds chopped off at the line by the end, me thinks.

T's 3, 6 & 9 have a nice ring to them, so let stick with that. 👍

My test run splits:

T3: 1'41.300
T6: 3'28.394
T9: 5'17.029

I'm going to enjoy this one.
Great car, Challenging track & on S2's too.
This'll be fun!
T3,6 & 9 Are fine by me and I'll post my first splits in a few hours.

Have Fun!

I like the well behaved tire clip!
I've seen the radical lap before, some nice driving but the video quality isn't the best.
Haven't got T Times yet, ended up being distracted last night. :dopey:
Should get some laps in today (assuming I don't go buy a 360 and FM2).

Man, driving on the real thing is tooooooo scary at those speeds. Balls of steel!

Why spend money when you can just, race? :sly:

This week was expensive since I didn't have the car, but The Ring is the reason I bought the game in the first place so here's something to get the action started in D3...
T3 1'44.621
T6 3'35.046
T9 5'27.802

Well, I will not be playing FM2 today.
EB games denied me a chance to play FM2 citing MS reps as the controlling factor in what can and can't be demo'd in the store. That said, I refuse to buy a 360 just to test FM2.

So, I plan on racing in a moment here... Back with an edit assuming this post hasn't been followed by the time I get back. :D

Btw, you guys want really fast?
Check this out...
YouTube, Hans Stuck, M3 GTR Race Car, good quality onboard lap.

Edit:
First complete lap (not the fastest though)...
T9: 5'15.9??

...I don't work in the rain...

You big girl...Well, unless you're an electrician of course? :D

Didn't have time to put a decent amount of effort into last weeks combo, I'm itching to get started on this one, especially as there's a new series of big bother (< typo fully intended) starting up as I type this so I'll be taking every opportunity I can to hide from the TV and this years shower of fame hungry morons. :yuck: [/rant]

Nice car too, I only purchased one at the weekend too so I won't have to go and get one especially. 👍

Second complete lap (clean)
T3: 1'41.0
T6: 3'27.4
T9: 5'14.4

Lost lots of time between T6 and T9 so I expect to go below 5'14 before too long (hopefully).
