European Bundle for GT5: Prologue has been announced, and now it's accompanied with picture showing the bundle. Retail price should be 399 euros while bundle should be on disposal day after the solo-game - March 29. Official announcement is still on hold. Notice that bundle should come with "normal" Sixaxis, not with DualShock 3 (wierd).

GT5: Prologue in March 2008 for outside of Japan

Basically, I've got a 99% percent confirmation for this, so it is true. :(

We could pretty much expect this, it's a part of tradion for GT games after all :D

Basically, my source has unoficially confirmed me that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue release on non-Japanese terrirtores has been postponed for Q1 2008, probably for March release. In other words, Play-Asia, here we come. Double sales for SCEi, but they've learned they praxis with GT4 after all :)

Do not mourn though, who thought they'll come on time has forget sheer amount of language-translations that PAL relaese have to oblige for releasing the game on all PAL territories.

6 months then for official PAL online-racing, and December will show how will Japanese servers cope with ping of all of us from rest of the world :D

Final track for GT5:P is Daytona, with both configurations - oval and infield (Rolex) course.

Tokyo Game Show is behind, and many new info has surfaced. However, this one in the most important - SCEA has pretty much confirmed GT5:P release in North America. ALPHA has it in his thread here:

My dear friend Spacemaniac.hr brings exclusive Gran Turismo 5: Prologue hands-on report from Lepzig, together with few nef info-bits from Q&A sessions that he and my other colleagues did 4 days ago with Kazunori Yamauchi (see below for Q&A summary):

Greetings to everyone on gtplanet.net. I am not posting very often but I am keeping close eye on informations you're bringing to gt addicts. Afterall, my friend and colleague amar212 is always up to date with new info. 👍

Allow me to say few things and bring you some impressions on Gran Turismo 5: Prologue as I've played it's demo (both single player on SIXAXIS and multiplayer online in seats on G25 wheel w/o gearbox) and co-done interview with Kazunori Yamauchi at Liepzig Game Convention 2007.

1. Gear changes are present in the current demo but their animation naturally depend on car you're driving - sequentional behind the wheel gearbox or standard one (the stick). Sticking to animations, the ones that considers hands of the driver are just incredible with materials streching and changing depending on the action you've taken (fast turning the wheel for 360 etc.). Lightning and shaders are doing their part of the story also.

2. GT stand with multiplayer demo of Prologue had 6 seats with Logitech G25 wheels and pedals installed but without gearboxes. Players could select any car from demo and begin a race on Suzuka Circuit stage at any time regardless of the other players allready doing their best times on it with other cars. F430, Alfa Romeo, VW Golf - everybody on the same track at the same time. Must I describe how good it feels to drive out from the box, come out from the 1st right corner behind GTA and put the pedal to the metal with F430 leaving Alfa behind in matter of no time on short straight afterwards? I thought so. :)

3. The sound in the demo is absolutely outstanding, with F430 roaming @ 7000 rpm like it's in the room. Even I didn't had headphones, at first (bussiness only) day of show I've turned up the volume on the Bravia at 60 and it sounded just right - deep and hard with different effects depending on the view (bumper/cockpit/behind both front and behind). I would say that PD is doing very good job with engine sounds this time around.

4. GT5P is running on the same engine that will "drive" the full game (GT5) but it is not just yet fully optimized so little yiggies and some very rare slowdowns in "16 cars on the screen" situations are to be evaporate in final version of the Prologue. Every model of a car is build from about 200.000 polygons (for illustration, one car in GT4 was built from 4.000 polys) and every part of the car is done as 3D object (f.e. light lenses are made of as many polys as hole car in GT 4). 5. GT5P is definitelly coming out this year, GT5 is coming out next year, and after it's release Polyphopny Digital is planning to take out never forgotten PSP version of GT. As sad by Kazunori Yamauchi in the interview. It is not known yet will portable version be based on GT4, GT5 or something in the middle and will it have any integrations with console games. 6. After game release, Polyphony Digital is planning to continue their design work on more cars that will be opened for download via PSN in the future, and this time they will try to bring players almost every car in history from all over the world (not focusing on the japanesse models mostly like in previous GT games). Also, few more things that catched my eye in this discussion. :)

7. "Professional mode" is, by the words of Kazunori Yamauchi himself, a mode that will simulate (new) physics (engine) of the car movement as accurate as it is possible with new hardware and is ment for players who want to experience real professional driving. (Thanks for quoting the source: GamePlay Magazine Croatia, www.gameplay.hr) Describing difference between normal and "pro" mode is not something I can do yet but in shortly - pro mode was definitelly more difficult (challenging at least) than the normal and felt like the real deal (I've tried driving VW Golf on N1 to pull some comparisations with real life experience). Result? Far more swinging, more leaning, more weight shifting, more everything. More "playing" in sandbox than in normal mode when going over the edge. :)

8. Stands with seats with Logitech G25 wheels on it, had three pedals (from left to right - clutch, brake and gas) but clutch pedal was out of function / non-functional. Options menu couldn't be entered so the clutch support in demo remains a mistery for now even thou Kazunori Yamauchi in our interview stated that he would like to implement clutch in new GT games very much. 9. G25 wheels had "rumble effect" on them but the force of Force Feedback seamed like on very low level. I personally guess that was for the safety reasons and/or easier manuverability of broader audience (public purposes).

10. Some cars (f.e. Nissan GTR Prototype) didn't have designed interior (cockpit) like the others but all cars will have it fully designed in final version of the game. Racing car Nissan Z350 MOTUL couldn't be selected for driving in demo. Depending on the cars (Japanesse/American/European/UK's) in-cockpit view puts the driver on the right or left side behind the wheel like in real life that gives whole new perception of the track when driving. Perspective of the track from cockpit view (personally my favourite in every game that gives that view option) in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue feels very good and natural. Unfortunatelly, movements of the driver under inertion forces (known as "G-force" also) that appears when braking/accelerating/taking turns wasn't noticable (maybe even fully non present) as I expected them to be in turning at high speeds, fast accelerating or hard breaking. Maybe it was because of the strongly secured driver's sitbelt?

11. Replay mode in GT5P demo is good as it ever been in GT series. "Triangle" button gives you on-push leveled zoom-in, "circle" turns off/on background music, "cross" changes car/stage view, SELECT changes car views (bumper/cockpit/windshield/3rd person) and "square" turns off/on dials/tachos. With directional buttons on D-pad you can change focus on "target car" and with (if I remember correctly) L1 you can look behind the car. There weren't any video-music synchro mode available in a demo, but the (in)famous transparent circle ring in the middle of the screen during replay was once again present. Why? I've never knew that.

12. When playing the demo in multiplayer, "game-pauses" (they definitelly weren't lags and I wouldn't called them frame-drops either) were noticable. Sometimes they've lasted for about 1 or 2 seconds and that wasn't nice experience. At least the car(s) stayed where you had him before the picture stop moving so you knew what to do when it continues. I guess that was happening when someone new joined the multiplayer game (respawned with car in pit line) and the time for "one session" driving in multiplayer was limited to few minutes (if I remember correctly - about 3 minutes or so - I must check my videos).

July 25, 2007 - The latest issue of Famitsu has a huge blowout on the racing game that's set to make PS3s throughout the world burn later this year, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. In addition to some slick screenshots (which we hope Polyphony will be good enough to release online shortly), the magazine also sat down with producer Kazunori Yamauchi for the full word on the GT5 sampler.

A series of firsts kick off the coverage. We're given a first look at the new cockpit view, which places you in the driver's seat -- a first for the series. In addition to a detailed interior, this view has nice touches like a moving speedometer and odometer and rear/side mirrors that reflect the happenings behind your car. You can use the D-pad to look left and right, although Yamauchi noted that you'll need to have the steering wheel peripheral for this.

Engine sounds are different when driving from the in-the-car perspective. Extra credit work from Polyphony's hard-working development staff? Actually, Yamauchi admitted that the team had recorded these sounds before.

The magazine also offers a first look at the "My Page" interface, which serves as your personalized menu for the game. In addition to icons for Race, Garage, TV, Album, Option, Profile and Home (you'll have to figure out what these do for yourself for now, although some should be obvious), the page has a calendar with upcoming race events marked, a world map with your area of play marked in red, weather readouts for major areas of the world, and a clock.

Yamauchi seems to have high regards for the My Page area. GT5 Prologue has been made with online play in mind, said the producer to Famitsu, and its game style is fundamentally different from other race games. Just as social network users start off at their personal pages when accessing sites like My Space, Polyphony expects GT5 Prologue players to want to start off at their My Page. Sure enough, the game will take you directly to your My Page after start up.

Yamauchi feels that GT5 Prologue offers the feeling of a simple GT Mode, a "Gran Turismo World" in which a large number of players co-exist. Polyphony is working on perfecting the details, from the interiors of cars to town scenery.

That's right, the game will recreate not just your garage, but your area of residence! When you turn off the icons from the My Page screen, you're shown actual pictures from your location of play. Polyphony is assembling scenes from Tokyo and other cities, as well as the inside of buildings and more natural settings.

As you might have guessed from the presence of the Home option on the My Page interface, Polyphony will be adding Home support to the game. The current plan is to give Gran Turismo its own universe within the Home virtual space. Players will be able to jump into GT5 Prologue directly from this space, then jump back by selecting the Home option from the My Page menu.

It seems that GT5 will be replicating some of the Home functionality in game. Polyphony is hoping to implement friend lists in the final version of the game, complete with the kind of features you'd expect to see in a social network. How this will work with the friend list and other community features of Home was not discussed in the interview.

Also sure to contribute to the feeling of community is voice chat. You'll be able to select two forms of online racing, one with the chat features on, the other a more purified arcade experience with the chat features turned off.

Offline, the game will play completely different from GT4 Prologue, in which the single player mode consisted primarily of license tests. Yamauchi says we can expect a game design somewhere between the arcade mode and GT mode of past titles. You earn money from racing, with each race offering a different prize. This money can be used to purchase cars from a car dealer. The tuning shop from a full-fledged GT mode is missing.

The game will feature around 40 cars and 4 courses with 8 layouts, including some locations that have never before been seen in the GT series. Prologue will not feature paid downloadable cars and courses, Yamauchi confirmed.

Yamauchi also made note of some of the technical specs of the game. The final game will run in 1080p, just like last year's demo. This technical feat is, Yamauchi admitted, very difficult, and his team is working hard to make it work.

Famitsu noted that the lighting effects in the Pit Menu screen are particularly impressive, and Yamauchi responded that the game uses a technique called High Dynamic Range Lighting. He believes that this is a technique that cannot be replicated on other systems. He also pointed out that the scenery used in the pit menu is actually an evolved version of the same scene from the GT4 intro. Of course, the scene was pre-rendered footage in GT4, and it's real time here.

Despite the 1080p visuals and the detailed cars, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's engine is powerful enough to display more cars than we're used to seeing in the racing genre. While the number hasn't been finalized, Polyphony is hoping to have 16 cars on the track during offline races. That number will likely drop to 12 for online races due to possible connection issues.

And the feature-list keeps on growing! Believe it or not, Yamauchi is hoping to include a B Spec mode in the title. In this mode, instead of driving, you stand on the sidelines and issue orders to an AI driver. The team is making use of something similar to the B Spec mode as a means of tuning opponent cars, but it hasn't been decided if the mode will be included with GT5 starting with Prologue.

Gran Turismo fans may be wondering if it's worth picking up GT5 Prologue or just waiting for the final GT5 release. Here's some incentive to make the early jump. Yamauchi confirmed that, at the very least, money that you earn in GT5 Prologue will be available in GT55. Prologue's October release should mean ample time to save up in order to buy a spectacular first car when GT5 comes around some time next year.

ON special event in Tokyo 23rd July Kaz announced Prologue will feature around 40 cars and that game could come out earlier then Tokyo Motor Show. He hinted 20th October as posssibility. What remains intresting is mentioning "game release day" - which sill raises questions of wether the GT5: Prologue will be download via PSN or stand-alone BR-disc-game. Nothing answered though.

Kaz said that GT5 could come out "during next year" and he even mentioned PSP game could be done after GT5 is finished.

Seems it is going to be one hell-of-a-big "Prologue":) Almost as a full game release with all those features that this pic resembles. This is going to be very serious stuff..

It has some kind of real-time clock, cross-world connection (cities are highlighted on world map), calendar, video-stream (GT Tube anyone?), PhotoAlbum and direct connection to PlayStation Home. Oh yes, Garage is now an separate entity, as it was not in GT4 prologue. So we can speak about possible great amount of cars there. Japanese site that have short report mentiones Kaz was also speaking about the weather reports and "customizations" - but it did not make clear what customization reffers to. It seems that after going online game will show you your city, location, local time, weather, temperature, etc.. They also mention that Kaz was speaking about 16 players online as a fact for Prologue. It also seems GT5:P is going to be Network download game after all.

I hope PD will deliver some new press info as Tokyo event finishes today..

1Up podcast claims November release date, clarifies that footage is from Novemeber game and make some claims about being able to get in and out of the car (with the camera?).

Yes, I just saw the video. From the low-quality stream I could tell it looks even better than the GT:HD demo. Sounds are finally improved.

Just stunning, I am also glad London is in GT5 Prologue, which should make for some great photomode shots in GT5 and if possible maybe GT5 Prologue. Also a glimpse at the interiors was great and most of all great sound effects and lighting.
 
Zonekill: It was "live" from Sony's press conference at E3. Gamespot is streaming the conferences, and GT5P was one of the very last games to be shown. You will/might be able to download the entire conference here.
 
IGN says it will be a "downloadble demo" but I somehow doubt. Nobody at the floor used a word "demo".

Hopefully, I'd like IGN to be right when stating it is going to be released this year, but nobody at the floor used words "release date" too. Tentative and speculative date of 22nd November still remins to be gossip.

July 11, 2007 - Gran Turismo 5 is still on the distant horizon, but following the success of Gran Turismo HD as a free download on the PlayStation Store (over one million downloads). Later this year, Sony will tease GT5 with the release of a downloable demo called Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Prologue is going to be a full-featured demo that includes online functionality for multiplayer racing.

Sony unspoiled a brief demo of the game on the big screen -- it looks extremely promising, running in full HD. The demo trailer started with a pit crew poring over a Ferrari before it tore down a race track. The camera flies into the car as the driver squeals away. The camera swings behind the driver before swooping out to follow the car as it roars down the asphalt. Even from outside the car, you can see an incredible amount of detail within the racing machine, from the contours of the driver's helmet to instruments on the dash.

The trailer revealed several environments, from a nighttime city run to a traditional race track. Cityscapes looking quite European in flavor sported detailed architecture and texture work. There was a run through a lush landscape, too, with the sun poking through vegetation to create some fancy lighting effects. The trailer was short, ending with a static shot of a polished ride sitting in a city square.

I've seen one pic of the Nissan GT-R in London, the pic was poor quality though.

If that's what were in store for GT5, it's going to be an amazing leap since GT4. The sounds of gearshifts, down shifts, tires, and even the engines! Everything sounds so real!!!!!!!!!

Later this year, Sony will tease GT5 with the release of a downloable demo called Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Prologue is going to be a full-featured demo that includes online functionality for multiplayer racing.

Sony unspoiled a brief demo of the game on the big screen -- it looks extremely promising, running in full HD. The demo trailer started with a pit crew poring over a Ferrari before it tore down a race track. The camera flies into the car as the driver squeals away. The camera swings behind the driver before swooping out to follow the car as it roars down the asphalt. Even from outside the car, you can see an incredible amount of detail within the racing machine, from the contours of the driver's helmet to instruments on the dash.

The trailer revealed several environments, from a nighttime city run to a traditional race track. Cityscapes looking quite European in flavor sported detailed architecture and texture work. There was a run through a lush landscape, too, with the sun poking through vegetation to create some fancy lighting effects. The trailer was short, ending with a static shot of a polished ride sitting in a city square.

You best believe, player! I saw the E3 trailer just today. I was blown away as usual. I've seen my true love- the Ferrari F430 race around some track. I've seen great detail inside the Motul Pitwork 350/Fairlady Z. There was some brand-new street course at night that looks awesome. There was even this sort of city where some cars were just sitting there for a Photo Mode opportunity. Something told me this was either New York or San Francisco... so that was London? If that is London, then this is the very first real-world United Kingdom location featured in a Gran Turismo game (hard to believe after going on 10 years of the GT franchise).

The trailer still showed more than six cars to a track. I'm sure damage won't be shown until PD has a proper base to use. I'm sure you'll still get to see an Enzo tore up. Keep us all updated, my Croatian friend. Too bad I can't say "thank you" in Croatian...
 
Yeah, the car was the Motul Pitwork 350Z. IGNore has to please the "fanboys" with mis-information, you know. IGNore comes through again.
